I''m miserable. We had a record high of 104 today and the "feels like" temp was 108 (as if the 4 degrees matters). UV levels are "dangerous", air quality is "unhealthy" and it''s not looking to change anytime soon. It hasn''t rained in 31 days!

I heard that there has been nothing but RAIN RAIN RAIN in the northeast for the last 21 days. What the heck is going on?

I know crazy isn''t it. I would have gladly sent you the rain we have been getting. I feel for you lucky, as I don''t love hot weather either. In the east coast, we get that really hot and sticky heat... But haven''t had any of that yet either. I feel like the summer is halfway over and we haven''t had summer yet...

At least it's not humid...

ETA: It's supposed to be under 100 this weekend. Fingers crossed...

The humidity is 35% right now. I haven''t noticed a difference, is 35% supposed ot be good? I''m still sticky! The A/C has been running non-stop for days and yet the inside of our house will NOT go under 83 degrees (which is obviously an A/C problem on top of the heat).
Meresal, can I come live with you by the water?

I''m thinking of buying a kiddie pool.

Honestly, I don''t know what''s worse.....constant rain or constant heat. Either way you don''t want to go outside.
7.gif

Kaleigh I was thinking about that! The summers in the NE are so short that I think I would be so bummed if a whole MONTH was dedicated to rain. Maybe nature will compensate with less snow this winter.

Not sure what''s worse - the depressing constant rain we''ve been getting in New York EVERY SINGLE DAY for a month now, or oppressive heat. I think I would take the rain over the heat, but what happened to nice sunny summer 80 degree weather??

seriously, if you asked me what color the sky is, i''d have to tell you gray.

i can''t remember when i last saw blue sky. my grass is rotting...because it''s basically being asked to grow underwater!

like other posters from the NE, i''m afraid summer will be over before we get any! and the winters here can be brutal...

We''ve got the humidity now. We had an unseasonably cool/dry spring and beginning of summer-no storms, no nothing..and then all of a sudden we got hit with bad storms and tons of rain (my hostas and flowers look fricken awesome!) and ohhhh the humidity! I let Chicken out yesterday morning and when I opened the door it felt like my breath was sucked out of my lungs.

LS I''ll be glad to send you the rain that we have had here in NYC. I feel like I live in Seattle. My son Noah is already working on the new ARK

After a horrible winter and a cool spring, we finally have hot humid weather. 92 today. I''m loving it!

Too cute. I was telling a friend in CA, I might as well live in Seattle. Tell your Noah he needs to build that ARK, fun summer project when you are stuck inside.... UGHHH.

Luckystar, I am going outside to do a rain dance for you and send all this yucky wet weather your way! According to some weather reports we were supposed to have had rain showers the past 2 days and nothing. Today (Thursday) overcast and humid and it looks like it is going to pour and perhaps I hope it does because i am playing tennis in a couple of hours outdoors and hate to play when it is humid.

On no! My brother''s stuck in the Heat Belt & I''m in the Rain Belt. Hey Misery, I''m Company!

Does anyone know if plants just start rotting with 30 days of straight rain. My container garden plants aren''t looking so good ... but the grass is as high as wheat. It never gets dry enough to cut it w/o stalling my mower.

I''m a huge fan of cool, cloudy weather and am very content to be without the sun for days on end and even I can''t take any more of the rain. Everything is damp: my house is damp, the dogs are damp, even my sheets feel damp when I climb into bed. Everything smells musty and I think I saw some mold start to form on our fence this morning.

As I type this, however, I see a slight break in the clouds and even see the reflection of what appears to be sunlight on a nearby office building. I''m keeping my fingers crossed!

I definitely feel for the midwesterners, though. I grew up in the midwest and won''t go home in July or August because I have absolutely zero tolerance for the triple digit temp/100% humidity combo. It''s absolutely miserable.

Seriously! It''s hot and muggy here, and I''m not a big fan of being sticky all the time, but it''s waaaaaay better than freezing. I complain about snow and ice all winter, so I feel like I can''t b*tch and moan when it finally warms up. I''m a little uncomfortable, yes, but I''ll take too hot over too cold any day.

I haven''t been able to straighten my hair once this entire month! Yesterday I left my umbrella in the car when I got to the grocery store because the sun came out like something out a movie. However, as soon as I walked out of said grocery store, we got a torrential downpour. Never mind that it had rained all day long! I got drenched, like I had stepped out of my shower fully dressed.

Today the sun looks like it''s peaking out...we''ll see because she keeps toying with us. I think this entire month we''ve had one, MAYBE two days of sun

It''s brutal here which unfortunately usually means a really bad hurricane season

I was thinking that! I bet we''ll probably end up with a bad one this year.

I''m having the opposite problem with our grass/plants. A few weeks ago we ripped out our hedges and planted a bunch of cute shrubs in their place. They aren''t doing so well.
15.gif
We''ve been watering them so hopefully they''ll hold up. Our grass on the other hand......well, the sprinkling system isn''t doing much for it. It''s all brown and crunchy.

Last night DH came home and he had this great idea to go swimming at an apartment complex that our friend used to live in. So we did.....and it was AMAZING. We''re rebels.

Living in both Maine and Houston has allowed me to experience two extremes in weather. I used to HATE the winters, but now it''s gotten to the point where I seriously dread the summer. I start to get bummed out around April when I know it''s coming. I much prefer being cold over being hot and sticky. I know that when we eventually move back to the east coast I''ll start to hate winters again, but I''m positive I''ll never hate them enough to suffer through these summers again!

Ugh. So it''s not raining today (thank god for small miracles I guess), but it''s HOT and MUGGY! I mean, it might as well be raining at this point. Ugh. So sick of crappy weather. Everything in my house is damp and smells like a combo of dog and cat. Mmmm yummy! It''s been too cool out for a/cs but I''m getting to my breaking point.

Too cool for a/c but not comfortable either. It''s just WET! Even the inside of our home feels damp. The moldings, the comforter on our bed...

But at least if it''s hot I can justify having the a/c on.
