OMG!! I have no words for this. Truly disgusting. I hope they throw the book at them.

That is so sad

.

Miami has been attacked by a cat killer. This person has killed over 33 cats (some were stray, most were pets). He would torture them by skinning them alive and then leaving them at the doorstep of the owners
7.gif
. They have a teen in custody now (although I think he posted bail) but the parents are arguing that the cops have the wrong person.

This story makes my blood boil...along with Fiery''s...it''s too much. What a bunch of sick f***s. Seriously. People like this do not deserve to even be in prison...they deserve worse, far far worse.

omg this is horrible. PPL just are so sick

I won't read the story. I don't visit PS so I can be subjected to crap like this.
I have to agree with Monnie. I can't bear stuff like this. If it shocks you why would you want us to feel the same way. I have a cat and a dog and I am like a mummy to them.

I''ll sort of disagree, Italia. I think these people do deserve prison--with very large dog-loving cellmates.

This is heartbreaking. I've noticed that there are many more animal cruelty stories in the news recently than there have been in the past. I wonder whether it really is an increase in the number of incidents or whether the media coverage is just more extensive. If it is more incidents, I wonder what causes anyone to do these things. Is it drugs? Is it because the economy tanked and they have to take their anger out on a creature that can't slash their a$$es right back? Is it because they were abused as children? Is it because they never had any humanity to begin with? Were they damaged in utero because their mothers used drugs? I don't understand it and don't have an answer for it.

In his book "East of Eden", John Steinbeck wrote:

“I believe there are monsters born in the world to human parents, some you can see, misshapen and horrible, with huge heads or tiny bodies; some are born with no arms, no legs, some with three arms, some with tails or mouths in odd places…And just as there are physical monsters, can there not be mental or psychic monsters born? The face and body may be perfect, but if a twisted gene or malformed egg can produce physical monsters, may not the same process produce a malformed soul?”

He was on to something.

I didn''t watch. I personally feel that there are some sick people in this world, and they need to be in padded cells.

That''s absolutely disgusting.

Jesus... Crimes against animals and children just make me so sick. They are innocent and defenseless.... There is a special place in hell for people like that.

Just curious... Why would you open this thread when the title clearly says that it''s disturbing material?...

exactly - you''re only "subjected" to what you choose to click and open - and Jet gave fair warning about what was in here. This is just being dramatic.

I think that posting this kind of stuff is going to cause upset to whoever reads it. I don't understand the need to post stories like this. I think posting this in ATW would be better as people do go there to read news stories. Just my opinion.

The title didn''t say anything about a puppy being skinned, arjunajane. I''m not trying to be dramatic, but I certainly think OP was by posting something with a title meant to grab one''s attention. It could''ve meant ANYTHING, the title was not obvious enough to stop me from even opening the thread out of curiosity. Dramatic, my foot. I was just making a comment.

The title I read said "warning to those who are sensitive." Again, it didn''t imply that there would be a story about a skinned puppy inside. Forgive me for indulging my basic human sense of curiosity.

this is absolutely horrifying. i can''t even click on the link it''s so upsetting.

The title to this thread should have been less cryptic, imo. OP, maybe you want to message the mods and have it changed...maybe you could call it something like: "An Oklahoma couple is charged with killing and skinning a 7 week old puppy so they could make a belt".

This is the same thing as the time someone (I won't name names) posted the link to the American soldier throwing a puppy off a cliff over in Iraq. Because, you know, we need to spread around that type of thing as much as possible.

Ok, me and my dramatic a$$ are outta here.

What were they thinking? They were thinking that they are cool when they are cruel. They LIKE being evil creeps. Normal people don''t do these things.

Whether they get the book thrown at them or not, I''m hoping PETA will turn their lives into a living hell with as much harassment as is legally possible.

Monarch, if I hold my mouse over the title of a thread it will show me the first line in the thread, so I can see what it''s about. I did that w/this one too..even tho I clicked in to read it anyway!

I think it''s just a part of being human (SANE human, not these freak shows that seem to be on the news all the dang time anymore), to read/post these stories. Sometimes it gets people involved in things to help, and it''s also, I think, a way of trying to come to grips with things that happen. I posted in here about a baby thrown from a car. I knew it would upset people-hell, I thought I was going to have a panic attack when I was reading it. It''s human nature to rubber neck at an accident, or when the fire trucks/ambulance go out, people follow to see what happened.

I did not click on the link either. Actually reading about such horror is not at all necessary. But I''m sure the OP was just looking to vent her personal ire and outrage where she knew like-minded individuals would find it just as upsetting as she did.

Packrat, I hear ya. I wonder if the mods would consider (if anyone else thinks this might be a good idea, chime in) allowing these types of links in one particular area? I like to go to Hangout for pleasure, not to read about all the nastiness happening out there.

And yes, I was aware of the cursor-over-thread-title thing, but thank you for the advice! Sometimes I just click without doing that preview and this was one of those times for me. That title really caught my attention, I guess, and I didn''t think before clicking. I was totally rubber-necking!

Monarch, Maisie (and everyone else)

Let me see if I can give an explanation. In my short time here on PS, I have come to appreciate it as a community, where members can share news both good and bad. We celebrate with people when they have good news to share, laugh with them about funny stuff and support them when they need to vent. That is what makes it a community, the full range of human experience is covered here. On the bad news side, people regularly vent about relationships with SO''s, in-laws, business dealings and world happenings. I don''t like all that gets posted and avoid certain threads as a result. No different than my real community, where if I don''t like a conversation, I am free to leave and talk to someone else about something else.

I agree the news story was shocking and I didn''t want to read/hear it either--it was one of those news loops where this story followed the one I was interested in and I didn''t get the player stopped before this story came on. Heck, I avoid TV news, because all their "news" is bad. I still don''t know how to feel about the situation--sadness for the poor trusting puppy, outrage at the cruelty of it all, sorrow at what some parts of society are capable of--they are all mixed into one brief news clip. When I came across this, I was at work and couldn''t just stand up in my cubicle and scream, but needed to vent somehow. That is why I posted it--to have some outlet to "shout" my frustration. How someone could do such a thing, I have no idea (though I am very glad they were caught). As some friends of mine have pointed out, I do not have pets, I have two four-legged children. I knew that there were other animal lovers on PS that would be able to share in the outrage and provide legitimacy to how I was feeling. The crazy part is that I don''t even remember what the news story was that I clicked on, I was so worked up about this one.

On one level, I am truly sorry that you were so offended by the post. On the other hand, I am not sorry for posting it, as it was probably the only way I maintained sanity. I know now to post this type of story in ATW (not that I want to have to do such a thing again). I really did think about the thread title, as much as possible through the mess of emotions, anyway. I tried to give three levels, the first was the thread title with a warning, the second was the summary in the post and the third was the news video itself. That allowed every person the chance to stop at their own personal comfort level. Maybe there is another thread title that would have given a little better idea of what was contained, but I wasn''t thinking clearly enough at the time to figure it out.

I don''t understand the fuss. The thread title has a warning in it. And, the article is in a LINK.

jet2ks: I appreciate your warning of the content. I chose not to open the link, based on your warning.

But the outcry about this feels like a person seeing a sign saying "Wet Paint" and then they touch it anyways (ie: open the link)...then hue and cry about paint on their fingers.

Life is not all sweetness and light. I have no problem with where you posted this, and feel your thread title AND inclusion of the link instead of a cut+paste of the entire story is perfectly appropriate.

And the need to vent somewhere is totally understandable. This is a safe place to do it, and IMHO you are not out of line.

LS

Jet2ks: I really don''t mean to make you feel bad. I just think a little more courtesy could have been exercised in this case. Maybe I should stick to Show Me The Ring exclusively, because it is pretty much all sweetness and light (aside from the occasional ring-gone-wrong story), and that''s why I frequent this site. I don''t think less of YOU for posting this link. I am just trying to make the point that there are people here who will be offended by that sort of thing. Even moving my cursor over the title, I would have had to read that a puppy was skinned alive. I didn''t even need THAT thought in my head, you know? I can understand why you posted it, your need to vent about it with likeminded individuals, and the sense of hopeless frustration you felt.

I''m not telling you or anyone else what they should or should not post on PS. However, if you would be so kind as to listen to a suggestion: maybe post things like this over here in ATW, or maybe seek advice/comfort on a forum that is even more news-based? I know most sites that provide news have a section in which you can make comments and read others'' input. I''m glad you came back and posted about why you chose to post the story here, it makes sense and I understand...it wasn''t even necessary for you to justify that to anyone but it was really nice of you to do so. Thank you.

To all those in the "don''t click if you don''t want to read it" camp: you''re right. You''re absolutely right. That''s a very fair viewpoint, and I will be more cautious from now on. I''m glad we have the sort of community where we can all give our opinions no matter how much they differ, and still get along so well.
