What is the smallest carat size you would wear?

Anything that doesn't need an attached loupe, though I still wouldn't turn this down

About a half carat (for size 7 finger) would be my lower limit.

I have above average sized fingers (7) so I probably wouldn't do smaller than .25 carats. If I was on a budget I'd get a big colored stone instead of a small diamond. That's only if I had a choice and only because I don't have size 3.25 fingers

I don't see how this thread is offensive, it's no different from the jewelry we don't like thread.

I think any size is beautiful...really depends on the setting. But I think if I were to wear a smaller solitaire stone, I would want a more modern setting.

I have size 6 1/2 fingers.
I saw a diamond a couple of months ago with a .12 diamond that I would totally wear and love. It was an antique lacy filigree and ring and diamond looked amazing.
I don''t see .25 as actually being so miniscule as many on this forum seem to think. Average size e-ring is .38, you know which means that a lot of people have UNDER .38. I probably know as many people who have .25''s as people who have one carat--these sizes to me are at the larger and smaller ends of ''normal'' with most being between .33 and .75 in the US (in Europe and Asia the rings are definitely smaller).
My favorite look in a diamond ring is not a Tiffany solitaire with a .10 solitaire set really high--but it''s because I personally don''t like that look, not because there is something wrong with the size of the diamond. I know women who wear about .10 in rings I LOVE--there is a pretty style of ring which is a sort of floral design in three colors of gold with a smaller diamond (.10 or .5) set in it, which is very attractive on fingers, large or small.
My own e-ring is a .38--just at ''average''. I got two solitaires since being on P''scope, one has a .65 solitaire (hearts and arrow) and one has a .25 solitaire (transitional between OMC and OEC) and I wear both, at different times. I would totally have worn that pretty .12, as I just said. I am not justifying liking smaller solitaires because I can''t afford one, because I can. I like to look at a lot of the rings on P''scope of all sizes and see gorgeous rings large and small here (but I do think the forum skews quite a bit towards admiring larger sizes more). In real life, I actually usually like rings where the diamonds are not huge, much better. What I find, among people who do not know about Pricescope, is that their diamonds up to about 1 carat, or 1.25 are quite often lovely quality (the two prettiest diamonds I have seen among my friends are about .50, each is a D color and very high clarity) but once they get over 1.25, you start seeing grey diamonds, milky diamonds, visible black inclusions and ugly stuff. In real life. Also, in real life, when people have larger diamonds, there seems to be less emphasis about having a ring that does anything other than show off the diamond , there is often no design. I repeat, this does not apply to people on Pricescope, where you very often see gorgeous large rings. Which I love seeing. I just sometimes wish there was not sure a skewing towards the larger diamonds on here. The fact that the forum that people always point to that showcases ''small diamonds'' is called ''one carat or less'' says something, IMO because, as I said before, in a country where .38 is the average, a .75 or .85 cannot really reasonably be called a ''small'' diamond.

Melee can have life too, but as a main stone I'd say 1.4 ct.

Smaller than that my old eyes can't make out much of a pattern and leaves me wanting more, like eating only one potato chip.
Sure that chip is delicious but having only one is a tease that generates more craving than satisfaction.

I wear a 10 point solitaire in a half bezel setting... Every day! It has lots of life and I just love how dainty it is. My mother always chuckles whenever we eat out. She loves diamonds too, and I always make a point to see how this wee guy dances in the light.

My wedding eternity is less than .15 carats, which I think could be the smallest on PS. I love it, though, and turned down many larger ones that didn''t look right to me.

In a solitaire, I would wear any beautiful stone that was bought for me, but would probably only buy myself something at least .2 carat.

It wouldn''t matter if I liked it. My original ering was .15 ct and was a real sparkly diamond. It is now in a heart pendant. As a solitaire I would probably want around 1/2 ct - no larger than 1 ct.

Most of my diamonds are around .45 and I love that size. Perfect for me and daily wear.

Funny thing is I have the Pricescope pin from years ago. IIRC it's a .10 and it's a H&A diamond pin and it attracts as much attention as my "larger" stones because it's unique!

Seeing Kenny's avatar brings up that we also have to take into consideration shape. Since fancy shapes may face up smaller, one could be more picky if they wanted an ascher shape vs. a round brilliant.

On my wedding ring finger I'd like a 3.75 carat D colored VS clarity (or better) solitaire. My engagement ring has two 1-point diamonds set inside an 18 karat gold oval, however.

Im in this boat! I like ECs and probably wouldnt go under half a carat, even higher perhaps...My finger size is pretty average but i have short fingers and ECs can be lost on them, i think particularly as they dont have as much fire as RBs?

I''m not sure what id consider the smallest stone id wear. Id go pretty small if it was a great clarity and cut.

No stone is too small, it just depends on the shape of the stone and the setting. I have a great 1/3 carat in a heavy deco setting that looks great. My engagement ring is a .47 centre.

As far as a typical engagement setting goes, I''d probably prefer to have at least 1/4 carat. If it was a diamond set into the actual band then I''d probably go down to .01. I think Freke has a Tiffany band with a tiny green(?) stone in it that is similar to what I''m talking about. I don''t think the stone is that small but you get my point.

I don't think I'm really clear on what you mean here, oobiecoo. Do you mean if a stone is set flush in a band as opposed to being set higher up in prongs or in a bezel?

Thanks for the link, swedish bean. That is, indeed, an example of a ring in which the stone is set flush with the band as opposed to being set in prongs or in a bezel above it. Thank you for the photo.
