I might have other things but this one is a treasure as I can remember sitting on it in their family room as a kid.

Very old camel saddle that my grandfather bought in Egypt in the early 50's. The dust on it is antique too.

I would have to say "me".

I have my grandmother's silver so that is probably about 90 years old. I had my other grandmother's china that was about 100 years old but passed it on to a nephew and his wife last weekend.

Hmm..I've got my dad's Brownie teddy bear from when he was little. Ohhh and I have a quilt and a set of pillowcases that my Gramma w/the Kitties made in..1920? 1912? I can't remember. There's a slip of paper in the bag if I would go dig it out, that says "Lil made in 19XX" It was when she was young, and they made things for their dowry. I want to put it on London's bed when we redo the house but..that's all I have that Gramma made..I don't want anything to happen to it. And I have a couple dolls Gramma had, and I think they were from when she was little.

Besides lots of rocks, minerals and fossils, I have this cool coin that I mounted into a pendant setting that I made.
I got the pendant idea from one of Elizabeth Taylors charm bracelets featured in her book "My Love Affair with Jewelry"

The coin features Flavius Valens, who ruled the Eastern Roman Empire from 364-378 AD.
He was killed when his army was sacked by the Goths, and he was supposedly burned to death.
Excuse the tarnish!!

I have one thing that's really old, but I can't officially date it. It's a rolling pin that's been passed down for years in my family. It was made by my grandmother's grandfather for his wife. He made it from one solid cherry branch. It's gorgeous and so chunky and heavy. If it helps at all, my grandmother was born in 1922.

I am surrounded by old things, the oldest would probably be the currency my dh collects. Nothing like Stracci2000s piece but some pieces of eight that are from the 16-1700s and on up from there. Mostly coinage from north America. I collect books so I have numerous from the 1800s and then some quilts and other textiles from the late 1800s. We also have many kitchen things, I don't know why I gravitate to them, I don't even care to cook that much but many crocks, wood handled utensils, a tin bread box and some butter and cookie molds that are very cool. And don't get me started on the furniture... when we die our kids will probably sell it all and take the money to buy stuff from IKEA.

I, too, have a house full of old stuff. I have a small collection of flow blue china, the oldest, a sugar bowl, is from about 1860.
The other pieces are 1890's to 1920's.
We eat dinner on vintage Wedgwood dishes, just because it's more fun that way!
I have a carved Chinese elmwood chair from the 1880's. No one is allowed to sit on it! Oh, I also have a Native American arrowhead collection, Pueblo pottery shards from New Mexico, etc, etc. It's like a weird museum over here.

My baby bracelet ( wooden) from the hospital with my name; my grandmothers silver 1926, depression era crystal, a few 1918 pennies, my husband. Oh! I forgot! I have my father in an urn!

It's hard to describe the taste. Very slight salt, but this weird almost chemical-y taste. It can be addicting.

Y'all are brave posting pics!

DF, I have a bunch of my dad's gold he bought in the 80s from his Asian doctor!

The OLDest item??? I don't know. Probably something to do with my inheritance.

I'll tell you this: my dad once sold Carl Yastrzemski's flannel uniform at auction...now that was an old item!

Oldest item in our family's possession is a scroll and book of our family tree. The scroll is dated by Meng Fu (a Chinese poet) during the sixth year of the Yuan dynasty (although could be older). 6th Year of Yuan Dynasty would be 1302 AD. It commemorates a family ancestor called Lu Zhi, who was a statesman during the Tang Dynasty, 754-805 AD. The family tree record lists all family members back to Lu Zhi. Even my siblings and I are in it. :)

That's a tough question as many of our possessions are antiques. We have lots of furniture from my grandparents and pieces that are even older. All our overhead (and lamps too) lighting fixtures are from the early 20th century as we collect vintage pieces. We have some very old paintings too and we have an old coin collection in the safe but I am not sure of the time period. And of course there is my vintage jewelry collection which I know DF said not to include.

But my most prized old possession is of course my dh. And while he's not as old as our vintage furniture etc he's getting up there in age. But as with fine wine he's getting better and better with age. :cheeky:

And umm DF you are certainly as American as any American I know. Just saying. :))

At first I thought of the clock my great grandparents gave my grandparents for their wedding but then I realized the OLDEST item is a bunch of shark's teeth we picked up from the beach in Venice, Florida. The sharks teeth are at least 2 million years old and possibly 10 or 20 million years old.

OOOH! Artdecogirl! I am dyin" over here!!! Look at those tureens! Flow blue is hard to find where I live.
My sister in PA has a collection a lot like this. It is more prevalent in her part of the world.
I know this took you years and years to accumulate.
A great piece of flow blue is breathtaking, I know. Thanks for sharing!

I don't know if it's the oldest item I own, but definitely the most meaningful old item I own ... this antique rocking chair that my grandfather refinished and my grandmother recained for me when I was a little girl. It has moved all over the country with me, and I always feel like I have a piece of both of them with me when I look at it, as they are both gone and meant the world to me.
