What is everyone doing for New Years Eve this year?

I always work on NYE (in a restaurant). It's a good night to work - people are in a great mood, the money is pretty good, and you don't have to worry about the pressure of making plans. The one year (of the last 10) that I didn't work, I went out with some friends. It cost a ton of money, everyone else was really drunk, and it wasn't fun. Working is actually far more entertaining in my opinion!

We had a tapas night at our place with some friends, it was a lot of hard work and I'm exhausted and my feet are sore but the food was awesome. At midnight there were fireworks down the beach that we could see from the front of our house.

Happy New Year everybody! I hope the 2012 brings you everything that you hope for. :))

HI:

Not sure but I am the designated driver!

cheers--Sharon

I thought I was hosting my sister's family for a belated Christmas, but it seems everyone is unable to make it, so we'll reschedule for another weekend in January.

We've made reservations to have dinner with another couple at a small, intimate Italian restaurant. The food is inexpensive and the real deal. Gosh, I love their spaghetti sauce!

Dh is on call on NYE and Xmas Eve every year because we take the whole Thanksgiving week to visit his family. So he kind of gets punished for that. There's a couple guys that alternate Xmas and NY day though, and he's not typically on that list. So tonight we're sneaking him out to dinner with some friends, and then probably coming back here to make sure he's back by midnight when the date turns on the servers.

I wanted to go with those friends back to play games but I don't want to be on the roads after midnight really.

We came home from our party close to 11pm. I really don't like being on the road after midnight on New Years Eve.

Staying home playing PS3. And hubby playing WOW or watching movies.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all..:!: are you drunk yet?

We hosted a small dinner party, and we were thinking of going out to see one of our favorite bands play, but IU beat Ohio at home and we decided that there would just be too much insanity going on around town to venture out. I'm glad we stayed in, we played board games and had a great time with our guests.

I hope everyone had a great night!!!

Mine was awesome! Future SIL really appreciated the attention we (well, mostly me, haha!) put into trying to make her birthday special. I decked our dining room out in BIRTHDAY decorations--not new years, picked out a big bouquet of pink and white Gerbera daisies, and got her a sparkly pink birthday girl tiara. Dinner was wonderful--DF grillmastered some ribeyes to med rare perfection and I made a red wine sauce and romaine salad with blue cheese vinaigrette. We topped off the night with catchphrase, strawberry shortcake and plenty of champagne. Nothing was super fancy or over-the-top, but we really enjoyed hanging out with our guests, and had a wonderful night. More than amything, it makes me soooo happy that future SIL had a nice night. Poor girl gets shafted on her bday pretty much every year. It was nice to make tonight about her, rather than NYE and a birthday as an afterthought.

Now everyone is asleep, the house is clean and I am being my typical insomniac self!!!

Tuffyluvr, your SIL will remember that birthday & your thoughtfulness the rest of her life. What a sweetie you are!

I made a few small things & we grazed all evening -- tasty marinated weeny chicken wings, gorgonzola & bacon puffy pastry thingies, a salmon & cream cheese & dill spread, chocolate-mascarpone cheesecake. Our party consisted of DH & me, 2 dogs & 2 cats, entertainment provided by reruns of Law & Order & a fire in the fireplace. In bed at 10:30. Life in the fast lane! :?

Natascha, how did your fantastic feast work out? I was exhausted just reading all the work you did!!

I hope everyone had a lovely New Year's Eve!
We have a tradition in my family and that is to spend NYE with my family at my sister's home. She hosts this holiday.

We did spend the day differently this year though (or should I say last year now =) ) as we drove to Tanger outlets in Riverhead for the day and oh boy we got some great deals! My dh bought 3 Barney's suits at 50% off and I got a beautiful Dooney and Burke satchel and a few things at Sak's. We only had 4 hours there (for me that's short as I am an endurance shopper for sure  ) but I was happy with our purchases. I sort of want to go back today (can you believe they are open New Year's Day?!) but my dh has been dealing with a chest cold for the last 3 days and I think he needs some rest. Too bad because the sales are still on today and then back to regular outlet prices I believe.

Anyway happy New Year to all- best wishes for a happy and healthy 2012!

My DH was working three in a row (ugh!) so three of my boys and I went to the movies. We saw two, TinTin and the War Horse. I rarely go to the movies, so they were really surprised that I wanted to.

Today, we will go to church and then out to lunch. I would love to go to the Whole Foods store in Tustin, just because I love that particular store and there is a TJ Max/Homegoods two stores down. I have a couple gift cards burning a whole in my drawer!

I hope you all had a safe night!

We had 5 couples over, talked all night long, DH made awesome appetizers, some wine/some beer, but no over drinking by anyone --- it was nice! Watched the NYE NYC Times Square ball drop on TV... then after everyone left around 130am, we cleaned up. Hate waking up to a mess! It was very nice! :))

And TUFFYLUVR - fantastic you turned NYE into a birthday event for your SIL!!! Late December babies *do* get short changed in the birthday department (not necessarily gifts, but in the 'specialness' of your own day) I know - I'm a December 24 baby, so I know how wonderful it is to have the day made about YOU, not the "next day",or in your SIL's case, NYE. Very sweet of you to do that --- kudos!! :appl: :halo: :appl:

We went to the Country Club and had a dinner and some dancing. We were with three other couples and all three of us women showed up in the same sort of thing--black wrap dresses and pearls!

We had gone out on Thursday nite and I had way too much to drink, so I mainly stuck to soda and water all night. We were home by 12:45. I've planted myself in front of BBC for the day, they are having an marathon to set up the new episode next week. Can't wait!

Happy New Year everyone!

We just got back from a 3 day trip to Phili :)) We love it there. Ate NYE dinner at a fab restaurant with a 7 course tapas menu. The food was amazing. Very nice night!!

Happy new year to all!!! :appl:

I have had pneumonia for three weeks, missed christmas and new years! Snoozed thru everything!

Downton Abbey for me tonight! 2 whole hours. Here in the Colonies we are way behind you Beeb watchers.
