This years plans... A group of six are going out to dinner and then to see the movie War Horse. After we will have dessert at my house and ring in the new year at midnight. What are your plans?

Unfortunately I have to be up at 5:30 the next morning for work, so I doubt I'll make it much past 9:00 PM! Maybe I'll celebrate the East Coast New Year here on the West Coast?

We've talked about going to a wine bar for dinner, but I've been sick for the past week, so I'm not sure I'll feel like it. We'll see. This wine bar has great fondue, so we may get that if we go out. I doubt we'll stay out late, and I can pretty much guarantee I'll be asleep well before the clock strikes midnight.

Sushi dinner with a bunch of friends, then back to our house for dessert and Cards Against Humanity.

Really not sure. I have a bachelorette party to go to tonight and I have to catch a plane back home tomorrow. I feel like I'm going to be really tired so I think I will just have a relaxing New Year with my SO - either at home with our dogs or at one of our favorite local bars which are very low key. I don't know that any of our friends will be back in town yet so its going to be an "old married couple" kind of night.

I've always celebrated the New Year by snoring.

We'll probably go out for something to eat earlier in the evening, but just stay in after that...NY's isn't really that big a deal to dh and me - in fact, he'll probably be asleep before 12!

oh I love fondue; I hope you feel better soon Zoe so you can go.

Hubby makes his wonderful homemade pizza :cheeky: and we will just hang out with the most fun little dudes in the world, my twin baby boys and probably go to bed early or we might just watch a movie at home if we are feeling a little wild. hehee ;))

I'll be breaking in my new bar with Hubby and a few friends!

Thanks Skippy! This restaurant is so good! They have cheese AND chocolate fondue, and when you combine them with a glass or two of champagne, well, it's just a fun night.

Have a fun night with the little dudes. Homemade pizza is great, and I've seen pics of the ones your husband makes. They look delicious!

We are having 3 other families over for the evening. We'll play some family games until the children go upstairs to bed and then eat and celebrate. Our youngest is 17 months old and will miss out on all the fun, but after a few very quiet New Years we are really looking forward to a New Year without being in the fog of pregnancy or young babydom!

Oops, forgot to add - have a great time everyone!

I love any excuse to get dressed up and go out (which doesn't happen very often), so BF and I are going out for a nice 7-course meal beginning at 8:30pm, with a champagne toast and dancing around the midnight hour. Neither of us are huge dancers, but I think it'll be really fun and a nice change of pace from our usual activities.

Amsterdam for the weekend! Yeah baby!!

I'll probably be in bed by 10:00pm.

Good friend just a bought her first house so we're going over there with all of our friends to celebrate :)

I am hosting a small dinner party for 11 peeps. Only problem is half of them are vegans  and the other half are absolute meat lovers who cannot imagine a NY meal not based on meat. So I am making double of absolutely everything and doing everything except the bread from scratch.

We also celebrate for a lot of hours, people come over at 7PM and some start leaving at 5-6 AM and on-wards. So its a lot of things to make. I am having crudities with several dips and things all made from scratch since not even tapenade (that olive paste) is vegan, olives, sundries tomatoes, etc and some different canapes. Then a three course dinner (well I am making two different ones, one with stuff like salmon, sirloin, Gorgonzola, pannacotta etc and a different menu for the vegans). At about 1AM out comes a cheese platter with some other options for the vegans and at about 4 I will be doing several home made pizzas.

DH and I are going to Melbourne's CBD for dinner and the firework display, and staying in a hotel for the night. Just the two of us, verra nice!

Jewelerman...we saw War Horse the other day and it was really good! A hard movie to watch at times, but really good.

We are invited to a party by a friend of my husband and I don't know any of the people and honestly would rather stay at home!!!

get drunk...

Going to a friend's house with a few other couples for food, drinks, and games.

I'll probably be doing the same thing as DF as well

Bought a nice prime rib roast and some asparagus and we're taking down the Christmas tree and wrapping up all the ornaments while watching a move. Haven't decided what movie yet.

DF's poor sister's bday is NYE. Worst birthday ever!!! We are having a few people over, making a special dinner, her favorite dessert, and having drunken game night/pajama party. No dealing with crowds or waiting for cabs--should be fun!

Wow! What a hostess! You're going to have a busy day in the kitchen!!!

i want to change my job,.

We are having some people over for a barbecue. It should be fun. I didn't even THINK about dessert until I read this thread and now I'm panicking. We have meat, and a few guests who wanted to do something to help out are bringing sides, but DESSERT? I will have to run out to the store and buy something!

Last year we had a dinner party for about 15 people, cooked and served a 7-course meal, with beef wellington as the main dish and panacotta for dessert, and many other things besides. We were cooking for almost a week! This year we are not going to nearly so much effort, but it will still be fun and tasty.

Not much, keeping grandchildren so the grown-up children can celebrate. I will open up some sparkling grape juice for the little ones and wine for myself. Will be in bed by 10. HAPPY NEW YEARS to all of PS.
