What in the world is that 409 pg. 8-yr old thread about?

I haven't kept up and now it's too late.
Please don't tell me to read it to find out.

Eight years ago I probably clicked once and read the opening post.
When I saw it was about a Christmas special and American Idol I just wasn't interested enough to click again.

Are all 409 pages about Jennifer Hudson or about Christmas specials?
If not, can anyone explain what it is about this thread that has made it go on this long instead of a zillion new threads being started?

The thread contains comments about things that a poster doesn't think warrants a thread by itself. It's kinda like the twitter of PS. Some discussions become long, others are short, some posts get no comments at all. I was going to post in there today about an investment idea my husband has that would mean a lot of work for me. It would be a pure vent post to release stress and a solicitation for advice.
