What do you find actually "sticks" - something you fall in love with at first sight or something that grows on you. Could be anything - jewelry, decor, men, food, whatever!

I find that rarely anything ever grows on me that I dislike at first. That isn''t to say that I haven''t fallen out of love with things I found fabulous at first (e.g. clothes, decor), but usually my most cherished things are those that I loved right away.

My thoughts exactly...

Definitely something that grows on me. I''m a slow burner.

Something I fall in love with at first sight. My impulse is to choose the things that have grown on me, and I'm trying to re-train myself now that I've come to realize the staying power of love at first sight (for me, anyway).

This has held true for me with romantic relationships. With friends it's the opposite - the people I disliked at first but then grew on me, those have turned in to life-long friends!

Things that grow on me.

BF: Disliked, then liked (as a friend), then was my best friend, then was my boyfriend, and I hope he''ll just keep becoming something more to me

Friends: I always have a group of people I start liking right away, then they drive me batty and I start hanging out with people that it took me a little while to warm up to but were well worth the wait. (With 1 exception)

Food: Foods I hated, I love. Foods I loved...well, I like them, but I don''t *love* them.

I could go on, but it''d be the same story across the board.

calories. man, they sure find my abdomen and thighs really fast!

Slow burner here as well. Definitely things that grow on me.

Shoot, I thought my husband was weird and annoying and wanted him to go away when I first met him.

Turns out he is weird, and occasionally annoying, but I no longer want to get rid of him.

And then some things that I loved at first sight... I no longer love.

Impulse decisions are never good for me.

It differs with me. I was never into love at first sight with men, but with my e-ring once I saw the photo of a Lucida that was it and the same with my wedding dress and most other things that I own.

With food it''s almost until the second, third or fourth tome that I like it, with people mostly the same. So probably I''m the type that love grows on me.

Something that grows me.

something that i fall in love with at first sight.

That I fall in love with at first site... but I have a good rule (or maybe my mom told me this? or someone wise?) That if I want something and decide against it, if I don''t stop thinking about it, get it. I make a lot of returns though of things i just "kind of" like... especially clothes.

Great example was this weekend- me and my BF weren''t even looking for an engagement ring and I went to a jewelry store and I fell in love with this setting, and I HAD to have it... and now I do!!!! Love my BF.

love at first sight!

I rarely fall in love with inanimate objects at first sight. But when I do, they stick and remain precious forever.

Animate objects, however, are a completely different beast.

Neat Q, TG.

Things -- love at first sight
People -- slow burn (especially friends ... most of whom were more like "hate at first sight"

Ditto that. I guess for me animals are the exception that proves the rule!

For my life (lovers, friends, live decisions) I''m a pretty intuitive decisionmaker. I''ve made pretty big decisions on using my gut and feelings and most have turned out alright. Pieces of clothing I''ll hit on pretty quickly yes or no. If I''m not crazy about it I know I won''t grow to like it, so when in doubt I will leave it.

Hmmm. . .

I find the things I love, be they decor, jewelry, food, literature, men, etc. are things I''ve always known I like. My tastes are very much as they were from the first time I realized I had preferences.

Like - -

My favorite books are mysteries. Must be my early indoctrination with my mother''s (original) Nancy Drew books.
Architecture. My favorite houses have always been older, front porch swing sporting abodes.
Music. I still like Motown, Mozart, and Moody Blues.
Men. I''ve always liked the smart and funny ones over the cute jocks. And I always knew I''d marry when older. I just thought older meant my thirties.

Ah, see? There''s hope for me yet! Instead of wearing thin, I might just grow on you . . . like mold or something.

Friends, good friends that I REALLY click with is love at first sight. I do have friends who grew on me, but we don''t have the kinship that my LAFS friends do.

Men, love at first sight. I usually just know. It''s a click thing.

Decor, and general things - slow burn.

Jewelry - definitely things that grow on me. My e-ring was a love at first site thing and while I like it, I don''t LOVE it anymore (that probably has something to do with PS though). There are other settings on here I ADORED at first sight and now I''m over it. While others have really grown on me and having staying power. My diamond was love at first sight. My pad had to grow on me though.

Travel definitely grew on me...I wasn''t into it much to begin with but it became a passion and I still love even the thought of putting together a great trip!

Love at first sight on all counts. Not saying I don''t question my snap decisions because I do (husband the only exception there), but I''ll continually question things that grow on me that I finally decide that things aren''t worth the trouble.

Exactly the same for me.

My closest friends were those that I didn''t really hit it off with at first.

For jewelry, decor, etc I always try to think it through and try to go with the "expected" decision. Recently I''ve learned to trust my gut. I''ve never regretted a purchase or a decision that I made with that love-at-first-sight feeling.

My fiancee grew on me, and we''ve been happy for over nine years. It really took me a while to decide I could actually date him though. With jewelry, I like mostly EVERYTHING! That''s why I stick around!

I''ve opened this thread about 4 times today thinking that it''s about different types of tape. So much so that I think I actually convinced myself that there was a "tape thread" and wondered what people were saying in it.

I always know what I like immediately. On the other hand, the things I don''t like tend to become even more annoying over time if I''m forced to be around them whether it''s people, food, activities, home decor, even the color of my car.

Typically, things that I like at first then grow to like more over time.

I can tell within a few minutes if I like or dislike someone. If I don''t like them its very unlikely they will grow on me later.

As for possessions... I am very changeable (no surprises there then!) and I go through furniture especially frequently. I don''t think I own a single piece of furniture that is older than two years. I never spend a lot on it though, I mostly buy from Ikea which is very inexpensive.

You all know what I am like with jewellery so I won''t repeat myself!
