My sister and I used to do the same thing! We always had these at my great aunt''s house. I looove Bugles, and I think they do still make them...

Meatloaf reminds me of my childhood, as do stuffed grape leaves and chocolate cream pie. Meatloaf b/c my dad loved my mom''s recipe, so we had a it a lot. Unfortunately, I just do NOT like meatloaf, so I haven''t had it since I was in my early teens. Stuffed grape leaves were an appetizer at virtually all our holiday get-togethers - I love them!! My great aunt would make them small so they looked like cigars (which is what we called them). And chocolate cream pie was a regular dessert on holidays, too. My sister loved the filling and I loved the whipped cream - she''d eat the filling only, and I''d scoop whipped cream out of the bowl.

HI:

Pop in glass bottles.

cheers--Sharon

Dude-those Krunch Twists ROCKED!!! Apparently if only 3 people eat them (mom liked them too) they quit making them???

Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls are another treat we used to have as kids. And those little sandwich cookies.

ETA: we used to get these 5 cent lollypops..they were like little balls on a stick and had one color on top and one on the bottom. I don't remember if they had a name. They weren't like regular suckers. LOVED them

tofu
polenta
kasha and varnishkes
fresh-baked challah
Morningstar Farms breakfast links
homemade fudge
hot apple cider

Please don't tell me I was the only one here raised by vegetarian hippies?

Nobody ever wanted to trade lunches with me in grade school.

ETA:
I can't believe I forgot these, as they were huge staples in my childhood diet:
Artichokes and butter dipping sauce
Cheese fondu w/apples and challah chunks

I was raised by hippies, but not vegetarians! What a healthy upbringing you had!

Childhood regulars in our house:

Kraft (not generic, not Velveeta, we were VERY specific) Macaroni and Cheese

Hot dogs (often in conjunction with, but not mixed IN with Mac''n''Cheese)

Hi-C Fruit Drinks and Juice Boxes (remember Ecto Cooler?)

Freeze Pops

Frozen Chicken Nuggets (Bleh!)

Frozen Fish Sticks (Double BLEH!)

MagsyMay--Ha! As for health, I ate enough cheese growing up to override any health benefits of the other stuff.
We were ovo-lacto veggies, hence the cheese.

While my eating habits have certainly changed, I can say that I''ve had great taste in music since childhood.

LIFE cereal, nutty wheat bread, Campbell's chicken noodle soup, Betty Crocker yellow cake mix with milk chocolate frosting, spam and potatoes, dry meatloaf, lentils, carrot cake, Hungry Man meals, cauliflower. Baskin robbins lemon custard ice cream.

what a hodgepodge!

Hamburger Helper
When I go to the US I have to investigate this product. Stephen King has mentioned it in a few books and I am curious....

For me it would have to be ''fat frogs'' an apple flavoured ice lolly formed in the shape of...you guessed it, a frog.

Sauerkraut casserole (yum!) and ruebens, pot roast, KFC, Pop Rocks, Carnation Breakfast Bars, whole wheat toast with lots of butter, pop corn, banana-cranberry frozen salad...... I''m sure there are more, but this is a good start!

I had lots of hamburger helper (and tuna helper, I think even a chicken helper?) growing up. It''s just a package that has everything you need to make __________ except the meat. So you cook everything up, throw in the meat, and you''re done.

Glorified box mac & cheese in many cases.

mac and cheese
panda brand all natural licorice
lifesavers candy
jolly rancher candies(watermelon or green apple and fire stick)
fruit roll ups(from the healthfood store ,not the mass produced kind)
Dr.Pepper,7 up and ginger ale

animal crackers for 5 cents a box

Captain Crunch cereal

Nestles quick, the powdered version

Duncan Heinz Brownie mix

Toll house choc chip cookies

Tater tots

Spam

Doritoes

Pizza hut Pizza

I just made my first apple butter and bread at our Apple Fest celebration this weekend. They were DELICIOUS!
I actually found these adorable ceramic fall-colored loaf pans for $1 a piece at Michaels, so I bought those and little ceramic teacups and the kids and I made mini loaves and put the butter in the teacups and sent them home with everyone. They were so cute!

Ramen noodles
Chef Boyardee ravioli
cream cheese and jelly sandwiches on Ritz crackers(which always have been vile to me)
a few of my mom''s favorite recipes -- usually involving chicken
coffee milk

What a cute idea Haven, using the little teacups! Gramma gave me her recipe for the apple butter-I need to dig it out and try to make it.

The apple fest you guys had sounds like it was a blast!
