So I tried this Boots mint/sugar body scrub for the first time today. After applying it and rinse it off in the shower, my skin feels like there is "olive oil" residue left on it. It is shiny alright, but also feels a bit "sticky".....

Is that normal for body scrub? Did I do something wrong? or is the product I purchased not right for my skin type?

Thanks!!!

I''ve never used that particular one, zhu, but it is supposed to be moisturizing? That could explain the oily feeling left on your skin. Or do you maybe need to rinse more? I know, dumb question, but thought i''d put it out there. I used to use a body shop scrub and I recall feeling really moisturized after rinsing it off, but not necessarily olive oily post shower.

Thanks for the response!
Could you suggest a good brand that leaves skin feeling moist but not "greasy"? I really did try to rinse off as much as I could!

some scrubs have oil in them and some don''t...i prefer the ones that don''t...because i can put lotion and oil on myself afterwards...but i have had one or two that did have oil in the ingredients.

haha this subject line cracked me up, i was like ''your scrub?''...hehee.

Some scrubs have more oil in than others and can leave a residual film, you can try thoroughly soaping again after, or try another brand, St Ives swiss apricot scrubs are quite good.

Hmmmm...I have never finished feeling ''sticky''. Very moisturized yes...I think I have a salt scrub that has some sort of liquid in it as well (not sure what...it''s from Bath and Body works)...and it definitely leaves some sort of sheen on you but it doesn''t feel sticky.

None of the scrubs I''ve used have been oily, or been moisturizing at all, for that matter. I use Apivita olive scrub for my face (nothing minimizes pores better!!). I''ve used bliss high thighs scrub for body, but it''s expensive so usually I just stick with a body brush.

Hey there, I just wanted to let you know that is very normal for sugar/salt scrubs, don''t worry! Sugar/salt scrubs have to be oil based, not water based, obviously they would dissolve

There are other types of scrubs, with jojoba beads or pieces of nut shells, that don''t have to have as much oil in the scrub mix. However, the oil in the sugar/salt scrubs is great for your skin. If you don''t like that oily feeling, just wait and wash off with your bodywash/soap -- it will cut through the oil. But for extra moisturization, just rinse the scrub off with water, and pat dry with your towel. The oil will absorb, and your skin will be super soft. Enjoy either way!
