....of the new American Idol judge?

Personally, I cannot stand her.

I love American Idol, but since the addition of Kara, I''ve had a hard time enjoying it. I find Kara to be very competitive in a way that **takes away** from the show...several times I''ve seen try to "out sing" the people trying out, she''s tried to "be funny" by cutting the contestants down--trying to almost match the wits of Paula or Simon or Randy who know when it''s a joke audition versus someone who really believes they have talent. I think, at this point, she has ruined the charming dynamic that AI had going. I respect Kara as an artist, and will admit she''s very talented...but, like so many wannabe''s that try out, she''s just **not** right for this show...

I voted that I''m still on the fence. However, there are probably more moments when I do not like her. I think it is totally out of place when she starts singing...what? Is she auditioning too? She is kind of annoying!

I voted that I don''t like her. She doesn''t annoy me TOO much.. but I kinda wish she wasn''t there.

Who IS she anyways? Some singer I''m assuming - cause like you said she tries to outsing the people trying out!

I haven''t seen enough of her to say one way or the other (I''ve only seen bits and pieces). BUT - I could totally see her having a "behind the scenes affair", ala Paula, with Jason Castro''s little brother.

She recently got engaged, too. Hahaha

She''s actually a really accomplished composer and singer. Her resume is stacked with the "who''s who" of the music business, and she is extremely relevent in terms of understanding the business. BUT, none of that means she''s a good judge, or right for AI...

I do not like her at all. She adds nothing to the show and its kind of random to have another judge thrown in unless one is getting ready to make an exit.

I agree, her attempts to one-up or out sing the true contensts grates on me big time. Like seriously lady, let these people have a turn...you''re not here to get your big break, they are. It''s almost as though she''s so insecure that she''s trying to hard to prove herself worthy of the show...but, she''s missing the mark big time.

I think Paula really put herself in an uncomfortable place last year with the whole "second song" fiasco. Maybe Fox is testing the waters...seeing for one, if Kara is a good fit (which, she is not, IMO) and two, if they find something (pray it''s not Kara) to fill Paula''s void, they will 86'' Paula all together for season 9?

Who knows.

She's annoying (I get what you mean by "competitive") but I only caught a few of the first episodes, and am not an Idol fan to begin with, so I don't really care.

For some reason I just can't get into Idol...I only like the auditions because they're hilarious

LOL, yes, the auditions are hysterical. Some people really really must have some tolerant friends, or stage parents...because someone lied, lied, lied when they told them "you can sing really well!"

American Idol was originally slated to have four judges, executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz said in the statement announcing the news.

"We''ve seen from our international series that having a fourth judge creates a dynamic that benefits both the contestants and the viewers," she explained.

I guess three out of four have to vote *yes* for the contestant to move on. Which IMHO only negates Paula''s vote because she loves everyone!

I think they had an interesting dynamic before. Her addition, is weird. I thought they were trying to phase paula out by bringing her on... but her singing, is strange. Judges don''t sing at auditions... unless they are auditioning for the part... is she auditioning? Is this an IDOL twist??

Yes, this may be true...but even if it was originally slated for 4 judges, it really took them 8 years to get around to finding the 8th? Come on, I''m not buying that! I think Paula became a liability with her behavior last year, and esspecially when we all saw what a nutcase she was on "Hey, Paula"...I think Fox and the powers that be are trying anything to keep Paula ''seen but not heard''...she probably has **this new season** to sink or swim or they won''t renew her contract for season 9 and Kara will be a new fixture.

I bet Kara is used to being "big talent" in any room...since singers look to her for music, and she is a singer herself...but in this room, she''s just 1 of 4, and the new girl, and people are kind of ignoring her...so, I think she is trying to prove her worth to these people...like ''see, I''m talented too!'' but instead of meeting that goal, she just keeps looking moronic.
