I really strongly prefer Vendor 3, Platinum Bride. The other sites you posted have very nice photos too, but the Platinum Bride photos have a very special quality to them. It seems like the pictures capture actual moments, not just an image (does that make sense?)

that makes total sense and its the exact feedback I am looking for :)

any other input on these vendors?

I like #1 and #4. I like how they seem to capture emotion and feeling in their photos.

I will take a look when I have a bit more time...I love looking at photographers but want to give it attention rather than a cursory glance

I like vendor 1 the best, with Vendor 3 being second place. I think they both do a nice job of capturing the moments of the day, but I don''t care for the coloring in vendor 3''s photos as much. I think that what I like about 3''s pictures is the effects put on them, not the pictures themselves, while Vendor 1''s pictures are lovely on their own, without having to lean on photoshopping to make them good.

I can tell you what I don''t like...

1. photos have too much posing and not enough natural shots. And when it is a natural shot it is not attractive – have you seen the bride with her mouth wide open on Brook & Brett’s wedding? she might be laughing but it''s not a happy photo.
2. I thought the photos were a bit plain and didn’t have a professional feel. Maybe ok if you’re having a relaxed wedding on the beach, but not for something traditional.
3. photographer is not able to capture best side of people. i can''t imagine everyone s/he took a photo of is ugly, but that''s what it looks like
4. photos do not show that photographer is able to work with light well. Just because the photo is in black and white doesn’t mean you don’t have to look at brightness and shadow.

this is great feedback! I love getting an extra set of eyes to take a look at the pics!!

Alea Moore

Have you looked at this photographer? I think she looks like she is in the same area and price range that you are looking for, but I prefer her photos a little bit.

Noelwr - It''s so funny that you would say that because when I looked at # 3''s sight, I kept thinking the first bride was so so pretty!!! Like really beautiful, classic bride pretty! It''s amazing how we all see things so differently.

Mintve - Do you have a favorite yet?

I like #1 and $3 the best, I think. I am meeting with them over the next few days and should make a decision within a week! I really appreciate your input and advicce. Its so nice to get an outsider''s opinion.

I really like no. 1 -- he captured special moments beautifully, and I like the artistry of his group shots of the wedding parties. He seems to have "a good eye" for both content and composition. I do wonder if he was able to remain in the background while taking his candid shots and during the ceremony, however... so I''d probably want to check with someone who had used his services to make sure. I wasn''t able to open 2, and I have to admit to a bias against the hand-colored B&Ws. That seems kind of gimicky to me, so I start wondering when a portfolio has more than one or two shots like that.

I just met with #4 and she was super sweet and energetic, but her pictures, once in person, were OK. to be honest, once they were in the albums, they did not look that sharp. it may have been the quality of the book. SHe seemed to love what she does, but her prices were too high for what you get.

I am still meeting w/ 1 and 3. #2 is out.

#1 gave me loads of references and they all gush about him. So, that is a bonus.

We will see :)

I wasn''t wild about any of the first four. I did find this photographer in your area with a portfolio I really loved. No idea of pricing, but perhaps you will like the style?
