lol rainydaze isn''t it funny about the dropping one temp you can feel it thing? i think i am a freak for sure..hahaa.
greg marvels at how small my ''comfort zone'' is...he is like...you are always too cold, too cold, too cold...then okay..okay...then hot hot hot. he says that my comfort level is like 2 degrees before i move into too cold or too hot hehe. but i''d rather be too cold because then you can layer it on. i hate being too hot because then it feels like you''re breathing in super hot air and your face gets dry as well.
in previous years we''d keep the house at 74 and i wouldn''t wear socks or double layers and i wouldn''t get cold. this year i am definitely feeling it more, so i have big puffy socks on and a thin layer for sleeping and then a hoodie with sweats for the house kind of thing and i am still cold half the time at 74!! when greg isn''t home i turn it to 76 and then turn it down to 73 when we go out. it also drives me crazy to let it drop to 65 or whatever then have to bring it up again and they say it costs more to do that so we just keep it consistent between 72 and 74ish--maybe that is why we pay less who knows.
i can''t even imagine having a house at 65 or 60!!! when we came home from our trip this wkd, the thermo was turned off while we were gone because portia wasn''t here, and it was 62 in the house (california so not so cold outside)...i was like OMG get that up right away!! i would seriously have on like twelve layers if we kept our house that cold. and i feel like portia would be cold too. her ears start to get cold at about 71!!
That is 10C!!! Holy crap - I would be shivering all day long!!!Date: 2/7/2008 4:33:59 PM

50.. I turn my thermostat all the way to nothing. We only use our heat MAYBE half hour to 45 minutes per day IF THAT.. our bill is over 150. Normally, our normal time of the year bill runs about 60-70. Its ridiculous. G*d forbid we should actually be WARM in the house. We walk around in layers most of the time. SDG&E kills us in San Diego.. its pathetic. A friend of ours had a 1200. bill for his house. YUCK!
I know exactly what you mean Mara....I''m the same way! I have this little 3 degree radius and that''s it! lolDate: 2/7/2008 11:19:24 AM

Yep. We just leave our heat off. DH is fine with the temperature (and hates forced air heat because it makes our already dry air even dryer), but I am cold all the time. Of course, I have cold hands and feet even in the summer. I wear sweats and thick wool socks at home and usually have a blanket on my lap when I''m sitting on the couch. When I lived in Boston, I kept the thermostat at 65 in the winter.Date: 2/7/2008 4:33:59 PM

you are not kidding - i always thought i was a weirdo-du-jour for this until i saw this thread and read your post. i was so excited that someone else out there is that sensitive too! and once again, just like you, i have a very small tolerance. 2 degrees too low and i am unbearably cold but a couple too high and i''m peeling the layers off! i make sure our thermostat is set to warm up the downstairs about 1/2 hour before we wake up because i freeze while it comes up to temp, and i make sure the downstairs is set to cool down about an hour after i typically go to bed so that on nights i stay up a little extra, i don''t get hypothermiaDate: 2/7/2008 11:19:24 AM

I''m not into freezing either. We tried the lower thermostat for a few days and then I caved and again have been turning it higher. Seems like 69 is the lowest I can go.Date: 2/9/2008 10:50:50 PM

I would not care what the price is! I could not handle freezing my butt off at home!!!
My bill to keep my house at 23C is about $400/mnth. Maybe things are cheaper in oil & gas rich Alberta!
