I'm not being sensitive, I just find it condescending and chauvinistic...and I'm not even a housewife. But yeah, I get that it was meant to be funny and cute.

I'm the most sensitive non-discriminating, inclusive, person on this planet - which is why I have a sense of humor that does not discriminate.
I have no anxiety about subjects that people find sensitive because I do not harbor negative feelings about any group.
Sometimes I think some people who get all worked up may be hiding ugly attitudes, perhaps subconsciously, that get stirred up by humor.

I'm a gay guy who tells gay jokes too.
I'm a white guy who tells white jokes.
I'm an old guy who tells old guy jokes.
All groups are funny, including mine.
Humor is everywhere if you relax and flow with it.
If you have a pure heart you have nothing to worry about.

Every joke in the world can be offensive if you are looking for offense.

Oh, and I'm very cute.

Meh. I'm not offended. And yes, it is funny and cute if you want it to be, but like I said, I think it has a chauvinistic tone. Maybe it's just my annoyance at my parent's (now ended) relationship, which was the woman keeps house and makes man happy while man works and comes home to do nothing but have dinner and expect sex. (FWIW I don't criticize those for whom this type of relationship works, it just makes ME particularly uncomfortable.)

It was a toss-up between responded as I did originally and writing, "I am a hussy in my own marriage. My job as a SAHM/housewife is to 'earn my keep' by pleasuring my man. How else can I justify doing nothing (else) all day and living off the good graces of my smart, hard-working, put-upon husband?" and putting a whole bunch o' the eye-rolling emoties.

But, yannow, I tried to accomplish the same thing in fewer words and with a little humor, as I assumed Kenny probably was well aware of the minefield here and jumped in with both feet...gutsy considering how sensitive a lot of us SAHMs admitted we are about this sort of thing in the other thread. And silly. He pokes at the dragons with sharp(-witted) sticks.

I totally agree with Jas. As a SAHM, Kenny's question cracked me up, and Jas' answer cracked me up even more. Actually, after reading the "housewife" thread, I was feeling a little insecure, because I am very much a "slacker" mom. I take care of the kids and cook dinner most nights, but I have a maid clean my house and have never operated a lawnmower in my life. Now I don't have to feel guilty about not cleaning or doing yardwork, because I know that my husband appreciates my other "skill sets" more

Leave it to the mods to decide what is inappropriate and should be pulled down. Otherwise, if you have a personal issue with something, why bother to open the thread at all? I have a friend who constantly complains that he has to spend $10 to see horrible movies. Well, gee--just don't go into the theatre! Problem solved!

I find this posting insulting. Not for me, but for the individuals who chose to be a stay at home wife.

Who are we to make snide comments about others' way of life and assumes "bed" is what justifies their choice?

Can we not all have a little more sensitivity and be more tolerant of everyone else's personal choices?
