My ski season is almost over (and I have LOVED it - so far at day 17 and hoping to hit 20 before my season ends) and I'm already feeling the gaping emptiness of what to do on my weekends!

So what do you guys like to do for fun when the weather is warmer? (Or at least when winter sports are done for the year?)

FWIW I am moving to the Bay Area this summer :)

I love hiking with my dog. I should really call it "wandering" as there isn't much elevation involved but along the beaches, through marshes, on the sidewalks in the city, etc. Sometimes I'll bring a friend, a picnic, a great cup of coffee, or snacks...and just go.

Also, biking. I don't do much of the off-terrain stuff but there are few things better than finding a back country road and riding for 5-6hrs. You're able to take in the beauty that you wouldn't be able to see from the speed of your car. You'll probably be able to find group rides if you talk to the local bike shop or bike club. They rate them on difficulty so just pick an easy one if you're nervous about them speeding by you.

ETA... growing herbs and COOKING with them!

I've never been to the Bay area but I've heard there's so much to do. Congratulations, by the way, on getting accepted into your program!

As for me, I love to hang out by our pool and read and swim. We live in a small condo complex that has a beautiful clubhouse and pool, and it's always so quiet. I feel like it's all mine, and I love going there in the summer.

My husband and I love to take day trips to the seacoast of NH and ME. There are so many towns that I love visiting. The shops and restaurants are great, and the scenery is beautiful.

Depending on how humid it is (it gets really humid here), I/we also going into Boston for the day and walk around.

I'm determined to get back to the gym this spring/summer, so while I can't exactly say it's something I do for FUN, it's something I should do more regularly.

What I love about where I live is that it is close to a number of fun places. I go down to the Jersey shore (have a friend who lives down there). I actually like to go there before Memorial Day and after Labor Day (no crowds). I also take the train into NYC to see a show, visit museums, see the sites, and do some window shopping. When friends visit we go the the local flea market (Rice's) and perhaps then go visit the lavender farm or go berry picking at a number of local farms. My friends also like to visit New Hope/Lambertville, especially during the Shad Fest or Art Fest.

When we have couples visit we usually visit several local wineries and may also picnic on the grounds. Last year we bought (in conjunction with my sister and her DH) a vacation home and will be spending loads of time there. We can bike or drive to the beach and it is also close to one of my favorite places - Stonington and Mystic Ct (some great wineries in the area too!).

Congrats BEG!

We love to go long distance bike riding by the shore in the warmer weather in addition to hiking and long walks on the beach. We recently closed on the beach house of our dreams and we bought kayaks so we expect to be kayaking in our backyard as well this summer. And of course hanging out by the ocean in our backyard entertaining. Looking forward to the good weather...hopefully we will get some in the upcoming months LOL! :))

We love visiting Lambertville and New Hope at least once every season. Especially in the good weather. Lots of fun and some really unique shops there!

Ul.ti.mate. Fris.bee...................you know you wanna play!

But really. That's what I do with my summer. I just went to my first tourney this past weekend (didn't get to play, though), and will be busy with practice and tournaments until September.

We live within an hour of the Atlantic Ocean and Newport RI/Boston MA, so a lot of our weekend days are spent at the beach or visiting one of the cities. Just basically getting out and doing things outside. Last year I was very pregnant and bothered by the heat, so I didn't venture out too much as my cankles preferred the a/c. This year we have Aidan, so we've got a summer bucket list filled with things like the beach, camping, going to the mountains in NH, going to the zoo and the aquarium, etc.

In the Bay Area there's tons to do in the summer- the various parks, hiking Muir Woods and going down to Stinson Beach, biking from/to Sausalito/Tiburon, the various produce festivals (Garlick festival in Gilroy and I think there's an artichoke festival nearby too), then there's Santa Cruz to the south of SF and the Mystery Spot. Oh, and don't forget about Napa and Sonoma!

My friends and I had porch parties or cook outs almost every night last summer, so the main thing I ended up doing was drinking tons of vinho verde! :cheeky: I also play in a summer soccer league. Since it's so hot it's a 7/side league and we play on a smaller than normal field with shorter halves. It's super fun!

My sister and some of my friends like to go to the river to swim and hang out on the rocks, but the river grosses me out so I never go.

Not sure what I'll do in my new home this summer...probably hike and ride bikes along a trail by the river. And hopefully drink lots of vinho verde with new friends!

ETA do you like to raft? I went several times the summer before last and it was super fun! You could also kayak and get super buff arms.

I love summer! I cannot wait!

We spend most of our time outdoors in the summer. We:
Bicycle (along the lake and on the bike path behind our home)
Rollerskate
Walk EVERYWHERE with the dogs
Swim in the above ground pool we put up for the dogs in the backyard
Grill outside every night
Eat breakfast outside (on the back deck) every morning
Read and write. A lot. Outside. Inside. Morning. Night.
Travel. This year we're going to Belgium and Switzerland. And some other places we haven't yet determined.

I don't report to work in the summer. Can you tell? :cheeky:

Travel and beach time!

Sit indoors and watch the rain falling, mostly. ;)) Welcome to Scotland...

The general theme of summer for me is "Hammock and Snowcones!"

I love my kayak!!! we bought them 2 years ago and they are awesome! We like rivers best, the rougher the better but we also go on some lakes but not as often. We also spend weekends at auctions, my husband is addicted , I really like to people watch mostly and try to spend time bringing things out of my house instead of into it.. =) We also do a fair amount of bike riding and are both avid gardeners, summer is very busy!

I work.

I work all summer and then work some more.

Yep.

One of the guys I work for takes a trip (or trips) every summer (6+ weeks at a time) so I wind up working extra hours usually. Plus I'm in school and even though I only take one class summer quarter, cramming a full 12 week class into only 6 weeks means double the hours in class every day and 2 weeks worth of homework/study every week.

Add to that the usual house maintenance and I'm pretty much done.

IF there is any time we head to the outdoor range with the rifles or plan a weekend camping trip.

We do:
lots of walks with the dogs
many hours in the garden/yard (this falls in the "house maintenance" category, but it is in the sun :)) )
BBQ pretty much every night (okay, my wonderful FI makes a delicious dinner while I study)
icecream for breakfast on the deck
read in the sun on the deck

YAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!! I kayak too! My dad got me really into it, and a few of my friends just got boats too. I really didn't think I'd like it, but I love it. It's so relaxing, and such an amazing stress reliever. We go for MILES at a time!

I'm also obsessed with cooking out. I love cooking anyway, but to not have to heat up the house, and no clean up? It couldn't get much better!!

I do a lot of work in the summer as justice stops for no one. But, when I'm not working I love to . . .

Waterski
Have cocktail parties on our rooftop deck
Lie on same deck reading
Eat on same deck
Walk to the ice cream shop near my house
Go to the zoo
Play board games and picnic in the park
Steal my parents' dog and take him to the park
Travel (we are going to Paris soon!)

Some things I love:

Reading in the sunlight (not much of that in the NW)
Swimming
Spacing out at the park
****OOOOH, and the biggie = showing off my cutely painted toe nails****

I live in FL so I have lots of water access. I like to lay out in the sun, swim, go fishing on the river or in the gulf. I like to go to the Beach on the Atlantic coast. I like to hike. I tend to go for nice early morning jogs on trails near my house. I love to garden. I like to randomly give my horses, dogs, and vehicles baths b/c it cools me off lol. I like to read good books. A lot of times I"ll go outside, lay a blanket out in the yard, fix myself some iced green tea with fresh mint and just read outside.

Make sangria and grill out with friends
Swim/read in the pool
Enjoy a cocktail on a patio during happy hour
Go to the lake
Make Caprese salad and guacamole every chance I get. Love when tomatos and avacados are in season!

It's too hot here to do anything super active outside that doesn't involve water.

Pretty much this.

I also write a lot and do all the work that gets backlogged during the school year. I also hope to enjoy all that the NW has to offer and meet some cool new people to hang out with.

I'm definitely much more of a summer person than a winter person. I spend a lot of time in our pool, and I also enjoy going to the beach and the water park. Summer barbecues are also a ton of fun. :)
