Hanging out with friends during warm summer nights was one of my favorite things to do.

I didn''t really date much until I went to college - then it was open hunting season!

Mostly hang out with friends. I was part of a church youth group so there were also summer camps, activities to help the community, etc. I also worked at my parent''s store a lot more, which I honestly hated, but I guess it built character.

Summers mostly kind of sucked through high school and college. I was always far away from my friends and generally stuck at a relative''s house with no friends near me. The best summer was when we went to Oz for 2 weeks, and then I spent the rest of the summer hanging around Singapore and going to the gym. That was nice. There was at least somebody around, unlike pretty much every other summer I''d had since I was 11.

Oh my God, I had the best summers as a kid...

For many years I went to a camp in Wisconsin. It was hosted at this college, and lasted 6 weeks. The same people went year after year...so it was like 6 weeks, parent free, with hot boys, running wild in a small town in Wisconsin. It was perfect.

As I got older, and lost interest in camp...we''d spend the summer laying out, cruising around down town, seeing movies, going to concerts, working as a lifegaurd...

I worked. And did chores. Ran around and was wild when I could.

I spent my most of my childhood/teen summers at summer camp. First I was a camper and then I went and worked there as a CIT and counselor. I have some amazing memories of camp and I hope my kids will love it as much as I did. When I wasn''t at camp I worked, doing things like babysitting, life guarding, etc.

My friends and I used to just hang out ... at the mall, at the movies, typical kid things.

One of my favorite memories was when I took a friend to get chili from Wendy's late at night (when the restaurant is closed but the drive through is still open). She's a horribly messy eater, so I said we'd find some place where we could park and chat and she could eat. We went to a park near my house, little more than a baseball field on the side of a road and were sitting there until the cops came and chased us away because it was after closing hours

We finally found another park (one the cops didn't drive past) and hung out there for a while. Later that night we drove back to my house where she had left her car and was sat talking in the car for a little bit so we didn't wake up my parents. After half an hour, a cop car pulls up next to us and asks what we're doing there. "Uhhh ... I live right there??"

He said no problem and drove away.

Next morning I find out that my neighbor (who is as close as family and should've recognized my car) saw my car sitting there, got nervous (what did he think I was doing? casing the joint?), and called the cops

Haha. Way too many run ins with cops that night just to eat a bowl of chili.

This is the lame stuff we did in high school

The summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school my mom and I lived with a wealthy man up on top of a hill too far to walk to any of my friends in the valley - I spent the summer working on my tan. I would get up early and alternate between setting a king sized white sheet out on the tennis courts or laying on a raft in the pool - either way covered in baby oil and spritzing water on myself. Good grief! I am a natural and fair blonde as well so all of those efforts were mostly in vain. I got to the point where I could lay out all day and not notice any difference at all. And compared to everyone else I was still just light tan LOL I haven''t layed out in the sun for 19 years now... I still kinda miss it but it just isn''t worth the skin cancer.

Funny, because this was probably my most boring summer and yet it is the one I remember most. Working on the tan lol

I rode horses every day all day. I worked for our riding camp actually so.

From age 8 to age 14 I spent every summer away at camp having a blast.

Those were some awesome years.

When I got a bit older, and my friends and I were able to drive, we''d just drive around, go to the mall, or lay out at a beach.

I spent eight summers as a camper at sleepaway camps up in Wisconsin, those were the best summers EVER. I was usually away for eight weeks total, which was the most you could attend camp for the summer. The same people went up every year, and I''m still friends with many of them to this day. (In fact, we have a reunion in July!)

Then, I worked at the sleepaway camp as a counselor for one summer. I spent one summer in high school traveling around the Middle East in an Outward Bound type of program, and as I got older I started working as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and day camp counselor.

Other than that, I just spent a lot of time hanging out with good friends.

I love summer. I still love summer vacations, the best perk about being a teacher. :)

lol i was in band and our marching band was highly competitive so i spent my summers in band camp. it was held at our school though so i didn''t get to go away. best workout program ever though.

Great call, The BigT! I went to OSRUI, but the Ramah kids came to visit us every summer! (The campers in the all-summer program, that is.)

OSRUI is a part of the UAHC, which is the Reform movement's camp organization, and Ramah is a Conservative camp, so they were definitely similar experiences, I believe.

My parents went to OSRUI as kids, and I took my first steps there when I was ten-years-old and my family was up there with the youth group my parents led, so I was a lifer. LOVE that place!

Did you go to Ramah or Herzl? I've never heard of Herzl, actually.

Oh, I guess Wisconsin must be a popular place in the midwest to build a camp! It was much cooler up there...
I went to both Ramah and Herzl, actually - they are both Conservative camps. Herzl is "famous" for Bob Dylan having gone there (when he was "Zimmerman").

It sounds like your camp experience was great!

Family vacations to Florida, working on my tan at friends'' pools, going to the lake, reading books by the truckload...

I went out with friends a lot at night... We would cruise around town, visit with different people we saw, go to parties, stay in and watch movies, go to movies, go up north/go camping.... (and get in trouble, of course

)

I was a busy little girl!

I did nothing but watch tv until HS. Then I joined the navy and was always going out to sea missing birthdays and everything and now I''m about to get out the navy and go to college. Hopefully I do more fun stuff now.

I spent nearly all of my summer days sitting in the sun reading. I''m embarrassed to admit that back then, all I read were Stephen King, Anne Rice, and John Saul books. . .but before reading those, I just wasn''t into reading and they were basically the gate-way drug to reading more sophisticated books. . .now I rarely read book which authors pump out in great quantities.

Most of my summer evenings were spent hanging out with friends. Oh, and guys too. Gotta have those! (I did party a bit!)

Spent my summers at the Jersey Shore...oh to be young again...and back on the east coast...
