My eyes are coca cola brown

Such great colors from everyone--and based on what I'm reading I think my daughter's eyes are hazel! She has dark bluish-greenish-gray with yellow specks in the middle, which seems to be a tell tale "hazel" sign. In bright light it is very striking and unusual but in pics and from a distance they just seem dark and/or brown. My eyes are brown and DH's is a light clear blue.

I did some reading on eye color and apparently it falls into one of following categories: brown, blue, hazel, green amber, gray, red (albino). Amber is one I had never heard of!

ETA: thanks luvemstrawberries--read your post after I made mine!

Mine are green with a ring of very light brown around the middle.

I voted hazel, too ... maybe I shoulda voted green? Greenish on the outside, goldish brown on the inside. Depends on the light, though. They never look blue or gray. Sometimes brown, or green, or gold... here''s a pic.

I have blue eyes. I always thought they were boring (to me I mean...I mean no offence to people with blue eyes). I always wished they were a more interesting colour like green or hazel.

Black and darkest brown. Black around the pupil, about half of my eye. Then super dark orangey brown on the outside of the iris. The brown part is so close to black too, you can''t see my pupil without a flashlight or something. I''ve never seen another Caucasian with eyes my color.

Blue. Results are not surprising if you look at genetic statistics. Most people SHOULD be brown, followed by blue and so on.
That is what I thought. I read that in a biology book in high school and it stuck with me and I wanted to see if it was true.

I never posted mine.

On my license and such it says blue, but most of the time they are grey. Very light grey. I have had people tell me that they look scary and unatural. My eyes change colors though. Some triggers I have figured out, some I have not. For instance when I cry they turn like a teal color and usually when I am at the beach they turn a dark blue. At work people will comment that they look different, but I don't know what it is that made them do it.

Lynnie, my eyes look a lot like yours. The green part in my eyes is maybe a bit wider, but the colors are the same. I voted green! My father maintains that I willed my eyes green.

Lynnie, my daughter''s eyes look just like yours. They are beautiful! Hubby has hazel, son''s are hazel, and I guess I''d have to categorize my daughter''s as hazel also. I got my granmother''s eyes. Mom''s are hazel and dad''s are brown. And yes, he is my natural father. Sometimes the genetics are less than straight-forward.

I always wished one of my kids would have my eyes, but they both look like hubby''s. Not fair!! I bore them and birthed them.... the least they could do was have my eyes!!

Here are mine. Please disregard the red! I knew I was tired but geez, lol! Depending upon the light and what I am wearing mine can be more green. My daughter has the coolest grey eyes and dark, dark brown hair.

Aw, thanks SDL

Uppy, isn''t it weird how genetics work? My mom has very green eyes, and my dad has eyes like haven''s (haha doodie brown). Mine have more brown than my mom''s, and both my brothers got my dad''s brown ones. Your eyes are pretty, too... I''ve always been fond of blue eyes. The grass is always greener thing, I guess

More pics, people!!!! Eyes are so intriguing, to me.

Mine are green...sort of a darker ring of blue/green around the outside and green on the inside. Oldest son - light green, middle son -
brown and daughter - darker green/hazel.

Both my husband and I have green eyes... but our son has blue. We''re pretty sure they''ll stay that way. It just surprises me because I thought for sure he''d end up with green eyes too.

There is no question what color my eyes are- GREEN!

Ooo I love the eye pictures! My best friend has gorgeous eyes..I feel kinda weird talking to her sometimes b/c I look in her eyes and trail off, just staring. They''re green/brown/yellow and blue. Never seen anything like it before.

My brother and I have dads Swedish blue eyes..tho my brothers still look exactly like dads and mine have gotten darker since I''ve had kids. I did have someone I''d never met before know I was my dad''s daughter by my eyes several years ago. I was totally stumped how he knew, but he''s like, it''s your eyes-those are Jimmy''s eyes no doubt about it. Mom has green eyes and was always hoping for red headed green eyed kids. I thought maybe my kids would turn out that way but nope. London''s were my now darker blue until she was 18 months and then they gradually started turning hazel..now at almost 6 they''re brown w/just a hint of green. Trapper''s were blue for about 2 seconds and now they''re huge and brown.

A kid in elementary school told me that my eyes looked like a tootise roll pop that had been licked a few times....

Obviously mine are brown.

I have very green eyes. How curious though.... green eyes are said to be the most rare (after violet, which I have never seen!) and green has overtaken blue in our poll.

eta- My dad has blue eyes; mom has hazel. My sister has green eyes also, but darker than mine. Brothers have hazel. I suspect my husband's genes will dominate mine in this one when we have a baby! He has dark hair and eyes.

Oh, the variations that are possible!!! I said that my eyes sounded like Clio's (green with gold inside, but I was claiming green). later in the thread, however, Clio went on to say that her eyes were similar to Lynnie's-which are pictured-except for having a wider band of green. I did not really relate to that :-(. My eyes do not look like Lynnie's. My eyes have more surface area covered with green; have a deeper green band around the outside; and are only "shot" with gold in the center. I used to wish that (if my eyes couldn't be blue) my eyes were a lighter green...but they are much more green than gold.

My mother, who had very blue eyes, had eyes shot with gold in the center, too. I think many blue-eyed people have some gold. When people with dark green eyes have gold in the center, though, it is often called, "hazel".

dark brown, almost black

Very bright blue. We did a "name that baby" game at work (bring in a picture of yourself as a baby), and everyone got mine because of my bright blue eyes.

Well, mine are blue but not in a really great blue way, but more in the blue/grey vein. I''ve always wished they were more blue, or something else entirely - i think they are blah. Every single one of us in the fam are blue eyed (geneticallly makes sense) except my sis, who is hazel.

this is a beautiful shot lynnie - i love hazel eyes, and i am so jealous of the violet eyeshadow you can wear - it really makes them pop!

Blue/grayish/aqua depending on the day.

Whoops, pic

Unusually dark here:

my ex used to call my eye colour "gregrebrue" - that is, a mixture of grey, green, brown and blue. They're blue, with a circle of a kind of yellow ring around the pupil making them brown at the very centre, green in the middle and blue around the edges. I think many have that lighter ring of colour around the pupil? The overall colour is deemed to be either green or grey, depending on who you're talking to. IMO, they're a bland, greeny colour from any normal distance, and a bizarre collage of colours for anyone who dares to get close! Those close to me will say they change from bright blue to bright green on different days. I suppose it depends on what colour I'm wearing?

My eyes are a greenish grey-blue color (other?).

They change with what I''m wearing and the lighting environment.

Wow you folks have some striking eyes!!!

Here are FI's and my eyes. I'm the doodie brown, though they look unusually warm in this pic. FI has gorgeous dark blue eyes.

ETA: Oh my lord, that is huge!!! Sorry folks.

While your eyes are absolutely lovely (and not doodie brown), you''re right about your FIs eyes - so very gorgeous!!!
