DH (31) and I were watching Psych the other night and in the show they referenced The Exorcist. I was laughing but DH didn''t get it. He had NEVER seen the Exorcist!! Obviously I rented it immediately and made him watch it. (and for those of you who haven''t seen it for a few years, there''s some added scenes that weren''t there before!!)

So, what "classic" films have you not seen or didn''t see until you were older??

I have never seen Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty

I saw The Exorcist when it first came out (I was around 17 I guess) and the lines were around the block. I would never watch this movie again. I hard nightmares for a long time.

I have never seen:

A Clockwork Orange
The Godfather
Taxi Driver
Rocky
Apocalypse Now
Jaws

But one of my favorite movies is American Graffiti.

I''ve never seen the Exorcist either!

Also, any of the Godfather movies, or Citizen Kane.

Hard to define what a "classic" movie is - are we talking like AFI top 100, or movies from a certain era of film or what?

All of the movies listed so far I have not seen.

I seem to be queen of not having seen the "you have to see that" movies.

I haven''t seen any of those mentioned yet either! Like Elledizzy, I always get the "OMG how can you NOT have seen that movie" comments!

Hardly classics by AFI standards, but I have never seen Sixteen Candles, Goonies, The Breakfast Club, and a ton of other 80s "classics," let alone the REAL classics!

When you said classic I thought Casablanca, I''ve seen a lot of classic movies from the 30s-60s and a few from the 70s-90s. I love old, old movies so The Exorcist and Jaws doesn''t do a whole lot for me. I have seen quite a few though because my dad used to make me sit through them.

classics are on my to do list. There are a ridiculous number of them.

I put "classic" because I think everyone''s view on "classic" is different. I would consider Casablanca a "classic" (which I''ve not seen) along with Dirty Dancing. I have "classics" from every era including Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink, Gaslight, Meet Me in St. Louis, Exorcist, Jaws, etc.

I wouldn''t have listed Cinderella in my "classics" but I''m surprised that there is actually a person who has NOT seen it.

I think I''ve seen them all.

Lifelong insomniac + likes movies = well, me.

Considering I majored in film studies, I''ve hardly seen anything. FI likes to bring that up whenever possible too. What a guy...

Never seen any Godfathers, that''s the major one.

I am really surprised that so many haven''t seen the Godfather. However, I will add that I didn''t see it until just a few years ago. I read the book in high school and was afraid of ruining it.

I have yet to watch Casablanca, which is a movie I really would like to rent soon. There are many movies from that era that I would like to see in fact.

I''ve seen Casablanca, but can''t really remember that movie. I love all the movies from the 30s, 40s, 60s, 70s, and 80s better than anything put out today.

How about the Marx Brothers movies, Singing in the Rain, and I love anything with Jack Lemmon, especially Some Like it Hot and the Odd Couple! Love the Philadelphia Story with Kate Hepburn and the one with Grace Kelly.

Now I want to make a list of all these old movies and watch them all over again.

Gone With the Wind

and many more, it is on my to see list after the kiddos' Disney classics of course

let''s make a list....

Casablanca
ANY of the Back to the Future movies
Princess Bride
Every Indiana Jones minus the newest one
The Dark Crystal
The Exorcist

I''ve never seen the Godfather movies. I''ve seen snippets here and there but I''ve never watched any from beginning to end.

Other classics I''ve never seen:

Gone With the Wind
The Exorcist
The Shining
Many, many others...

We watched Casablanca a while ago, and it was really boring. I think my husband liked it more than I did though.

I''ve never seen any of the classic christmas movies like "It''s a Wonderful Life" or "Miracle on 34th Street."

Unfortunately, I have seen "Citizen Kane" and did not enjoy myself one bit.

that's one film I WON'T SEE again because it scared the hell out of me. I'm 41 years old and I can't even HEAR the dialogue. My husband laughs but it really freaks me out. Eeeeek

I''ve NEVER seen "The Sound of Music"

Sorry Somethingshiny, I didn't say that right. The Exorcist is definitely a classic, my mind just goes staight to movies that are 50, 60, 70+ years old. Of course I love Pretty in Pink, Dirty Dancing, Breakfast Club and many others. I should have said scary movies like The Exorcist, Jaws or Carrie aren't the type of classics I like, I don't like scary movies usually except for Alfred Hitchcock movies. BTW I love Gas Light, Meet Me in St. Louis and anything Bette Davis!

Omg, I love The Sound of Music, my mom used to make me watch that all the time. The other musical she''d make me watch multiple times around the holidays was White Christmas with Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby!

Me too!

Eeerrr... i suppose i haven''t seen any classic movies

Casablanca
How Green is My Valley
The Godfather
Wizard of Oz
Cool Hand Luke

Those are top 5 classic movies I MUST see before i turn 23 =)

I haven''t seen most of the movies listed so far. I was forced to watch The Shining and one or two others in a media class in college and HATED them.

DH had never seen Disney movies. Never saw Cinderella, Snow White, Lion King, Aladdin, etc etc. Now I know he''s a boy so maybe he wouldn''t see the princess movies, but to not even see the Lion King or Aladdin as a kid? And he grew up the same time I did and those were BIG movies in our childhood! When I found out a year or two ago, we sat down and watched a couple of them together... kinda silly, but it was cute
