What are your pets named?

Let''s see... I''ll go back to my first kitty - Chloe. all white long haired cat... then got Armani an all black long haired cat. The day (literally) before he went to get fixed at 6 months old he got her pregnant... she died as did 2 of her 3 babies and we raised her one living baby and named her Mayana. I planned to call her Maya but I never ever did. Then we got our dog and we call her Teila. We named her Downtown Tequila Blues after her mother Electra Blue and her father Downtown Louis. And then we had 5 cats move into our house... a mama who has been a stray on our property for a long time and her 4 kittens. The mama looked Himalayan so we were going to name her Laya but saying Teila and Laya proved too difficult so we ended up naming her Layla. We knew the father of her kittens and had him taken by the spca (unfixable wild and mean feral tom cat) that we called Old Tom. So the most rambunctious of his kittens was named first and at first we called him little Tom but it quickly was then moved to Tom Sawyer and then just Sawyer. His "big" brother and best friend that looked almost identical to him we named Finn after Huckleberry. So based on that theme we named the girl Becky which left the little black runt kitten the name Joe. We didn''t know which we would keep or if we would and we never thought those names would stick but here we sit in China with a big fat monster Joe weighing 18+ pounds. Layla and Becky and our dog Teila are all with a VERY good friend in Georgia until we return from the states. Sawyer and Finn were adopted out, and the rest have all passed on

Emma is a domestic short haired cat (tabby) and Charlie is a black long haired cat. I named Emma when I got her, but I''m sure she had a different name before that. I adopted her when she was about 4-5 years old. We got Charlie when he was 8 weeks old and he was a little black poof of fur. He is 2 now and very mischievous.

I like using people names for animals and I''ve always loved the name Emma. Perhaps I should have saved it for my first daughter? Oops! I sort of got the name from Jane Austen''s book. I''ve always loved that character. We named the boy Charlie because when we got him he had insanely long eyebrow whiskers. They reminded us of my grandfather''s crazy crazy long and bushy eyebrows. It just sort of stuck! He is very much a Charlie.

We''ve also had animals named Lucy, Lily, Sadie, Maybelline, and Roo. These were all dogs that my parents have had over the years. Lucy arrived when my mother was pregnant with me. I chose Lily''s name. Sadie came with that name Maybelline got her name because she looked like she had eyeliner on so we named her after the make-up. Roo jumps a lot. Like a kangaroo. I call her Rooster most of the time though. Shes a little out of her mind.

I''m loving all these cute pics and names, what a great thread!

We have a yellow lab named Cowboy...started as a joke since my dh is a fan of the team, but the kids liked it so we kept it....occasionally dh will call him Mutsy for some unknown reason. Oh, and "Big Belly Boy"...my dh can be very silly!

We decided on our first two dogs'' names in 2002, which was 2 years before we brought home our first and 6 years before we brought home our second!

I love the history behind your boys'' names, NEL!

I''m not sure if you saw this in my Ireland thread, but I thought of you when we were over there. We met this handsome guy named Bruan while we were on the Dingle Peninsula. His owner said he weighs about 140 lbs. He is quite the looker, I think. I really wanted to throw my arms around his neck and give him a good squeeze. I thought your two handsome boys when we first saw Bruan.
Oh my gosh, Haven, this post made my day! Bruan is handsome fellow! I''m a member of a newf forum and there are a couple of owners in Ireland, I''ll have to go back and see if either of them live on the Dingle Peninsula. I don''t know how I missed this because I saw your gorgeous photos of Ireland and was even showing them to my husband. I must be blind!

What''s funny is that we are seriously considering naming our next newfie Bruin.

Thanks for sharing!! I''m glad you did since I apparently missed some of your Ireland photos!

Tigian and Lilyfoot thank you!

I forgot story behind the name.
Adopted her when our son was 7 ( we decided on no more childbirths) to be his companion and naming her was his undertaking. At the time he was a die hard Spongebob Squarepants loyallist! He particularly enjoyed every episode with Spongebob and his Squirrel girl friend Sandy. So my son said: "Mom since we have a girl puppy, I want to name her Sandee." (i changed the spelling a bit) And there you have it! Sandee it is!

Elledizzy,

Your Kitties are so cool! Are they speaking to you?

My dog is Lily. She's was a rescue puppy and she's an absolute sweetheart! My 2 girl kitties Kiki and Fraidy Cat died within 6 months of each other this past year. They were my little buddies for over 16 years. The only cat I have left is the one we call The Evil One. He's a mean, old grouchy cat, but we love him anyway.

I had three cats growing up. Duchess was named after the aristocats mother. Although her marks were far from elegant, her features and the way she carries herself, even 20 years later, is still royal.
Luna was a NE barn cat we got as a kitten. My brother got to pick the name, and he liked my suggestion of Luna. Although she looks like a little lynx, she has such a calm, sweet demeanor that Luna eels like a good name for her.
Finally there is Tiku. y bro and I argued about a name for weeks after we got her and my parents were threatening to get rid of her if we didn''t agree. My best friend was over, opened the index of the book I had which had a lot of names and selected on at random. Leatiku is a Native American goddess and so she has been Tiku ever since.

First pic, my babies together. I can never get a pic of them both looking at the same time.

Maggie was our first cat. my DH got her around the time we were dating. She followed my brother in law hom and my MIL, for all her insanity loves cats and is a cat whisperer. This cat however, who was about 5 months, was a total terror. They named her Demon and begged DH to take as he had no other pets. We call her Maggie, short for Magdalene because she is a wh-re of biblical proportions. No man can come into the house without being assulted with love and she is a feisty little thing. She has a round little face, little ears, a rolly polly body and big green eyes.

Finally, there is Odin. My husband got him a year after Maggie when I was out of town. He was the runt of the litter, but with his big blue eyes, all white body and a chest the stuck out really far. As a kitten, he was very brave and we had a guy touring the place as a potential roommate when Odin was a few months old. He had 2 great danes and as we were coming down the stairs, they stopped dead and looked terrified. My little 3 pound kitten was hissing and swating at them and there were afraid to get any closer. He has since become a total scardy cat.

He is so beautiful and I don''t have a single picture that really captures it. He still has the blue eyes, but everything is perfectly proportioned and he is pure muscle. Everyone who meets him wants to know if he is a show cat, ut he is just a stray. As I have no good pictures of adult Odin, here is him in my lap ten minutes after we met (and I fell hopelessly in love).

everyone''s pets are so adorable!!

here''s my two. both adopted from our local humane society. first up (on the left) is scout. this was his name when we got him & since we were told he was a surrendered by his former owners, we thought we''d keep the name. plus, we couldn''t think of a more fitting name for him...he''s just such a scout! even though, later when looking through all of his paperwork, some listed his name as kipper. we stuck w/scout. he gets called scout, scout-a-bout, scout-butt, scout-boy. next is perdida (named after the mother dalmation in "101 dalmations," even though we were told she''s english pointer not dalmation). her name was polka at the humane society. i have a problem saying that name, and had already picked her out on the humane society website before we adopted her & decided she should be perdida. she gets called perdida, miss-missy, minnie-ninnie, and minnie.

Bonnie and Clyde - Mini Dachshund brother and sister, born July 16, 1999. We got them from a family who bred their mini Dachshund mom, Molly, for the first and only time. Clyde was the biggest of the litter and Bonnie was the smallest. They are inseperable and we love them dearly. We need to take some good photos of them!

Coco - I adopted her from the Houston SPCA on February 26, 2008. She is my angel kitty and has special needs. I saved her and she saved me.

This is the first thread I''m reading through this morning and it''s making me feel so happy! I wish the mods (''morning guys....wavewave) would make one of our furbaby threads a sticky, so we can look at these pics whenever we need a lift.

Really, they''re all so gorgeous! and I hesitate to mention any by name because they''re all so beautiful.

lori, Coco could have been a star. She''s so pretty and perfect, soulful and distinctive.

Here''s my little beast guarding the house. He''s convinced it''s his job to police who dares to walk past our house. Moms in stollers, joggers, children BEWARE! He also likes to guard my office. Specifally to proect me from DH. Heaven forbid DH be allowed to enter when he''s on the job! He''s also been known to race into my office to prevent DH from getting to me when I''m NOT home. Crazy guy. He loves DH too, but feels the need to "protect" me. He''s such a great lovable dog. He gives kisses on demand too. Kisses = licking DH''s ear.

My miniature pinscher Eddie!!!! I always thought this pic was so funny b/c it looks like he is sticking out his tongue at me- that would be his personality, though!!!

I''ve got Buddy, the beagle/shelty/shephard mix, and Charlie, the chocolate lab mix. Both are adopted from agencies at 8 weeks. Buddy likes to bark and play guard dog, and Charlie likes to chase anything that moves. Both enjoy cuddling and driiving me crazy!

My golden retriever is called Amber and my cat is called Manolo.

These are our two babies, mini foxies. Ebony is on the left, age 6, and Snickers on the right, I think she was about 10 weeks old in this pic.

Pictures! This is Darwin right after we got him, he''s about 2 1/2 here. He looks the same now at 8 1/2 just with a grumpy old man attitude.

We have three dogs, one is Sasha, she''s a yorkie and her name is totally fitting... she''s full of attitude, really intelligent, and a total diva. Scout is our other small dog, the rat terrier mix. His name fits him in no way shape or form. Although outside he is quite happy, with head up and tail wagging, indoors or around strangers he becomes so timid. He''s afraid to walk across the wood floors... and is scared of approaching the water/food bowl too quickly. He''s scared to jump onto the couch or chair. He''s scared to be picked up. I guess it''s fitting in that he likes to scout out of doors. Dixie is our pit bull who stays at SO''s mother''s house for the sake of room. I guess her name fits? I don''t know her as well, as she is still very young, she tends to be extremely hyper. Young Pitts are high strung, and sometimes don''t know their strength. When on walks, she pulls like a bull against a harness, and will flat out knock me down. SO handles her the most. She''ll calm more in two or three years I think and when she does it will be easier. SO''s other pitt bull who lives at his mom''s who is their family dog was the same way, very hyper when younger, but now she is the matron... and she and I have so much fun running together.

My horse names make no sense, Rou and Bali. They are Familial names.

Those are my pets.

This is my cat Pippin, who lives with mum and dad now. He''s a big 8 kilogram brute! He''s a marshmallow though
