We have two bunnies named Otto and Hannah. We picked Otto''s name out first, and I thought Hannah was cute because it''s also a palindrome (spelled the same forwards and back). DH says if we get a third it has to be Racecar

I prefer interesting human names for pets and I''ve recently had gerbils named Sebastian, Oliver, and Rory.

I know a woman with bunnies named Breakfast, Stir Fry, and What. lol

elrohwen, and the other poster who concurred, I AGREE! Cool names. My policy is: no inanimate objects as names.

My three kitties are named:

Venus, all black DSH (about 9)
Theodore, black and white tuxedo DSH (about 7)
Franklin, black and white tuxedo DSH (about 3)

The kitty that is my avatar was my siamese cat, Simon, who passed away on March 12th. He was about 17 years old and was suffered from hyperthyroidism for 2 years. It was sad, but he was an amazing companion.

My cat is Alice named for Alice in Wonderland. I had her without a name for almost 2 weeks before I could decide!

DH''s dog is Ren. When DH adopted him, he was named Warren, and DH thought that was too much name for a dog, so decided to shorten it. People always think it is for Ren & Stimpy though.

We adopted a cat together named Simon. His name was already Simon when we adopted him, and we had originally planned to change it, but after living with him for a few days discovered he was such a Simon, we couldn''t change it.

Sometimes an animal chooses his/her own name, huh?

I had a Simon too.

Here are my boys.

We decided on our first two dogs'' names in 2002, which was 2 years before we brought home our first and 6 years before we brought home our second!

I love the history behind your boys'' names, NEL!

I''m not sure if you saw this in my Ireland thread, but I thought of you when we were over there. We met this handsome guy named Bruan while we were on the Dingle Peninsula. His owner said he weighs about 140 lbs. He is quite the looker, I think. I really wanted to throw my arms around his neck and give him a good squeeze. I thought your two handsome boys when we first saw Bruan.

Haven, how do you pronounce that? Brawn? Or Bru-ahn? Such a cute guy!

We have 2 dogs, Harlow our female doberman, and Frankie, our male chi mix. They both have several nicknames, and answer to those too.

The bunnies have several nicknames, but answer to none of them. Hmmm ...

I love hearing all the names! Our two tortie cats are Bella Jo and Britta Rose. Bella also goes by Fats b/c she''s quite..rotund. We have a Cavalier named Chicken Little Hasenpheffer. We had tree frogs when we first got married, and they were Sticky Green, Mr. Green Jeans, Ichabod, Captain Nemo and Slick AKA The Green Hornet. We had pitbulls named Sadie Ann, Tuffy Jo (JD named them before we got together, I gave them middle names. I''m a firm believer in middle names hehe) Sly Alexander, and Special Takhisis NoNo

We had a lot of cats growing up-we were the dumping ground for people rather than tossing them out who knows where. Matahari Tneddica and Sir Didymous Ambrosious were two of my kitties.

I want to use the name Elspeth on one of our next pets. I love it!

I rescued my puppy in October of 2008..she is a poodle/coonhound mix with some lab in her too.

I am absolutely in love with her...literally, head over heals in love with her.

Her name is Layla. She is perfect.

I also have a Holland Lop tort who is brown and white and just too cute for words.

His name is Noofi.

I have never heard of a mix of poodle and coonhound. I grew up with coonhounds which my father hunted. I now have a standard poodle. Never would I have thought of a combination of the two. My standard is called Marne. We also have a labradoodle called Remy. She has her own Facebook page,*Edited by moderator. Please do not post identifying information on the forums per the PS rules* and she is the mascot of DH's trivia team.

His owner pronounced it "Broo-in" and then spelled it for us, which I thought was cute.
What a smushface, right? Oh, I love Newfies.

I have a Maine Coon named Bentley, but we usually call him BB, Chicken, or Woogiepants. I''ve also had cats named Jesse, Mable (aka Meatball), Marble (aka Moose), Bernie, Taz, Candy, Cookie, Baxter, Max, Tessie, Zaleigh, Gyrfalcon (my brother named him after a Mechwarrior piece. I just call him green bean because he answers to anything with a "g" in it, haha), Bobblehead Fred (we called him Bob), Tippy, Asia, Ernie (or Stinks), Melvin, and Minga. We also had dogs named Diogie (Chinese Shar Pei), Bartholemew (beagle), Sampson (boxer chow mix), and Leroy and Rufus (mutt brothers we found abandoned). If you know the members of my family, you can always tell who named which animals. If it''s ridiculous and amusing, that''s my fault, like Melvin, a gooooorgeous silver Maine Coon who did NOT look like a Melvin at all, yet once we gave him the name, it seemed to suit his personality. Mom swore I turned him into a professor!

My aunt used to have a Chow with the same name, but she spelled it Bruin. Smushface is right--too cute!

My dog''s name is Chester. He came with it. He was already a year old when we got him and while I don''t love the name Chester, I didn''t hate it enough to go thru the work of changing his name. I''ve done that before and I just didn''t want to do it again. If I''d had my way, I''d have called him Kenny.

I''ve had a slew of animals over the years... cats named Louie, Sophie, Sandy, Wally, Popeye, Speedy, Bonnie, Clyde.... dogs named Charlie, Ellie, Fatso (I know, I know- horrible, but I was like 8).

Love this thread and I also think Kizzy and Yaya could be calendar or greeting card dogs.

We have Louie the black lab. His middle name is Henry after the last labbie.
The cats are Margaret June, (Margaret because she would look like Margaret from Dennis the Menace if she wore wire-rimmed glasses and June for DH's aunt) but mostly she's June Bug or Buglet. Then Ivan Boomer. Just because. Winston was named at the shelter but we call him Bitsy most of the time.

The first time we met our daughter-in-law's family my stepson called us beforehand and said "please don't tell them your pets have middle names".

My Himalayan Siamese cross is Scorpio as she is one, her birthday is October 28th! She is a scorpio too as she is stubborn and opinionated just like me who is also a scorpio

kenny, I don''t think you post too many pics of your girls at all. In fact I think you should have a Kizzy and Yaya thread. I love those pups and I''d like to apply for the job as their Godmother :-).

Well, there was this thread.

If you are going to be there Godmother you''ll have to give them lots of tummy rubs.
9.gif
Oh I know! I love that thread! I''m hoping that thread remains alive so you can keep adding new pics to it. I know you''re constantly dressing them up in new and different little ensembles. (They''re girls, they have to be ensembles, LOL, they''re very chic pooches)

I have LOTS of experience in the tummy rub department. My Cassie & Bella love them!

And the new baby who will be here next week; Fehud Pavi Maliik (silver grasshopper king in Swahili because he likes to jump backwards in big leaps)

Matata, I knew a "Maggie" would pop up on here eventually! I go by Maggi, and while I''ve only met one other person with the name in my life, I''ve met two cats and at least five dogs with the name! Your babies are gorgeous!!!!!!!!!

This is a cute thread! My kitty''s name is Blackberry. We did not name her after the phone (everyone thinks my DH did that b/c he is an IT nerd) she is named after the fruit. She all black except for a white patch on her tummy.

My only daughter. Her name is Sandee. She is a 95 pound Bull Mastiff. She will be 6yrs old 9/2010.

Isn''t she a beauty! I just love her!

Wonderful thread, and DARLING PETS, everyone!!!

We have two wonderful Ragdoll cats, \"Bentley\".

Although most of the time, we call Bentley "Squeak" because of his darling little *eep eep* squeak of a meow!

I named my little chihuahua-terrier Darby after the main characted from the movie Darby O''Gill and the Little People because even at 7 months old he had the spirit of a sweet, charming, grumpy little old man.
Your Darby is adorable and OMG I used to LOVE that movie!!!
Thanks Monarch! The movie is a real classic! Definitely a favorite of mine!
