On Saturday night we went here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/chez-spencer-san-francisco

We had the venison (yum!) and it came with "Jabron Potato" and OMG. It was the BEST. FREAKING. POTATO. I. HAVE. EVER. HAD.

It was like a deconstructed scalloped potato. Thick meaty slices of potato with a cheesy garlickly peppery sauce with Gruyere and Parmesan. Here's a picture: http://s3-media4.ak.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/EjcHpw0OW9Su9YZIX_iPqQ/l.jpg

I adore venison. But when I only had room for one more bite, I gave my husband the venison, and finished the potato instead.

Since then, it's all I want. Thank god it's in the city, else I'd be 1000 pounds in a week. But OMG, I'm just sitting here craving it.

How about you, what are you craving?

Lou Malnati's pizza!!!!! Thin crust with mushrooms and pepperoni. I've been wanting this for DAYS now...

Well, it won't have mushrooms but the mail order pepperoni is very nice. We get it a few times a year. Comes perfectly packaged and the price includes the shipping. http://www.tastesofchicago.com/category/Lou_Malnatis_6_Pizzas We usually do the 6 pizza order and split it with friends (3 pizzas each). I like the sausage the best and DH the peperoni, so we usually do three sausage and three peperoni.

Comes quickly and the directions are spot on.

Pickles. American ones, not the crummy English ones. And peanut sauce. I probably wouldn't eat them together, I just want both of them right now.

Miss Vickies potato chips --- I love the grease and the salt... ah... SALT.... :lickout:

or a wedge of pecan pie - I'm easy, I can go sweet or salty.

:naughty:

I'm craving that lone Dove ice cream bar in my freezer. It's calling my name.

Atta girl, Holly!!

Deejay, I can totally send you some pizza ;)

LC, every time I go home my friends want to go out somewhere fancy and I'm like, ah--no. I'll be at Lou's if anyone wants me!

Gypsy, I wasn't sure how well they traveled, but it sounds like Lou's on ice is the way to go! Actually, you just gave me a great idea! Every year I struggle to find something my dad can send me for Christmas. I was thinking wine this year, but he's not a wine drinker so who knows what I would end up with. But I think I will ask him to send me pizza!

Holly, eat the dove bar. Hell, run to the store, get another package and eat all those too. You're more than entitled to it today.

I did eat it! And it was so-o-o-o-ooooo good! Dark chocolate coating on vanilla.

I can totally relate to the potatoes (am I being a Dan Quayle, or did I spell that right?) craving. The best spuds I ever had, I can never have again. A restaurant in Fredericksburg, TX, The Oak House, is no longer open for business. I don't know what made them so spectactular; they weren't filled with garlic or herbs or cheese. But they were better than anyone's dream of mashed taters could ever be - - creamy, buttery, thick and hearty, earthy and satisfyingly dense with flavor. Maybe they used cream instead of milk? Truffle oil instead of garlic? Real butter in vast quantities? Whatever the case, they were The Bomb. It has been six or seven years, and my husband and I still talk about them!

Well I was craving a great cup of Saltspring Island coffee with real cream.

Made one and drank it.

Now I'm craving a holiday... :naughty:

Oh. Just noticed the thin crust thing. The mail orders aren't the thin crust. My favorite part is the tomatoes. They are just right.

Chinese food. Not just any Chinese food, but Chinese food from the local hole-in-the-wall restaurant my fiance and I frequent. I could eat it daily. :lickout:

Walker Bros. hash browns with mushrooms. I'm kind of thinking about going out and picking some up as takeout right now.

Oooh yes. We have an amazing Chinese place here. And I am TOTALLY in the mood. I don't think I have a chance in hell of talking DH into it though, as he always wants to commute home before we eat anything.

Haven, what's Walker and Bros?

Walker Bros. is a pancake house. I thought they were a national chain, but they must be regional. They make your basic breakfast foods, but they make it all so well. I can't decide what I want to eat first after this baby arrives--sushi from my favorite sushi place, or bacon and basted eggs from Walker Bros.!

Oh, this thread is so bad. I'm craving all sorts of things now.

I wasn't craving anything but now you've got me craving that pizza! I never had it.

Gypsy - for someone who never tried it, would you recommend the mail order one?

Now I'm also craving vanilla wafers :)

Salted caramel. A big ol' honkin' slab of it.

Depends. Have you ever tried deep dish? Do you like it?

I'm usually a thin crust person, by far. NY style, fold it and eat it. But I do like the occasional Sicilian. Good pizza, to me, is good pizza. And this is very good. But I can't say it's my FAVORITE pizza. Cause it's not. It's a great change of pace and high quality though.

I think the 2 pack is $57. So... give it a shot. http://www.tastesofchicago.com/category/Lou_Malnatis_2_Pizzas

sleep- that is what I am craving most strongly these days...

I *love* deep dish pizza.

Thanks Gypsy - I'll give it a shot.

Ghiredelli (sp?) has dark chocolate squares with salted caramel inside. Available at Target and most grocery stores. Easy access and damn fine splurging - - gotta love it!

A hot fudge sundae with nuts (and is it lame that I love the $1 ones from McDonalds the most? ).

And dayyyum Gypsy, the potatoes in that photo look delish :lickout:

I just ate lunch and after reading this thread, I'm hungry again!
