I''ve been talking about it for some time now...
I had my father''s service on Friday, Nov. 6th, and it was fantastic. I''ve been trying to schedule the service with military honors. He was in the US Marine Corp. Let me tell you, the military honors was very short and simple, but so touching. After stepping out of my car (this is where the tears started to flow and never stopped), a Marine escorted just me to the seating area (I was the person receiving the flag). They performed a 21 gun salute - 7 marines shot their rifles three times in the air. Later in the ceremony, which only lasted ...about 10 minutes, the same Marine that escorted me stepped to the table with the American flag on it (they placed a small bundle of shiny rifle bullet shells inside the flag), then walked up to me, knelt down, handed me the flag, and said things about how honorable it was that my father was a Marine and about him serving our country... VERY emotional moment for me. My father is now in his peaceful resting place and I think he would be happy and proud he got his U.S. Marine Corp. military honors.
I also broke up with my bf the following night.
My life is a whirl wind!
Just wanted to share... I needed to let some of it out.
I hope all is well with everyone here!
