My story is very similar to havernell''s in that I had no idea we were flying to Paris and I had been wearing the same clothes (work clothes) for 36 hours. Before I left work I threw on a bikini under my clothes because I thought we were taking a fairly quick flight down ot the Caribbean. When we ended up in Iceland for a layover I knew I was wrong.

So for our proposal we wore work clothes we had donned 36-hours prior and I was wearing a bikini underneath. In Paris. In February.

Yes, I was. I had a *feeling* that it would be coming that day, so I was in my favorite grey cashmere sweater, dark jeans, cute little red ballet flats (that FI HATES by the way

) and a red peacoat. We were in NYC, so I had to look somewhat cute, but still be comfortable, and warm!

Cute thread!

I must say I wasn''t a big fan of what I was wearing. We were just on the way to visit family, and it was cold, so I just wanted to be comfy. Most of my clothes were in the laundry, so I just tossed on a pink long sleeved t-shirt that I usually use as pajamas over this brown lacy cami and some jeans and some of my comfy, but not cute teacher shoes. I looked at myself and actually thought, "I''d better not wear this b/c what if today''s the day? Nah....couldn''t be." Oops! Boy was I wrong. Of course, ultimately it doesn''t matter.

We just finished hiking up a mountain. I was wearing jeans and a tank top. No make up and all sweaty. Still don''t think I''d change it. But couldn''t take any hand shots because my hands were all gross from the climb up. Maybe I would''ve brought handi-wipes.

I was really happy with what I wore!

I had a swingy black and brown linen dress from Anthropologie. We got engaged in Paris - and we were going to Montmartre and then the Moulin Rouge that night. I honestly thought the proposal would happen that evening, but I wasn''t sure when - I was really nervous! He proposed on our hotel balcony overlooking the Arc de Triomphe at the end of the night and it was perfect - the dress held up well and looks really cute in photos!

I wore it again just this weekend and his mum told me she recognized the dress from the photos

Ha! I had to go back and look at photos to even remember what I was wearing. Turns out it was jeans, a black top and a colorful scarf. The outfit wasn''t bad, but the fact that I''d had it on for about 36 hours at that point was kind of funny. My fiance flew us to France for the proposal (I thought we were going to visit friends in DC for the long weekend) and he had planned to propose over dinner on our first night after we''d had showers and dressed up. But, once we reached our room in the chateau where we were staying for the night, I started tearing up and saying how I couldn''t believe he''d planned this all for me, etc. He decided this was the right moment to propose so he spontaneously dropped to one knee (in a baseball cap and khakis) and asked me. So, we were definitely not in our finest attire or even clean! But honestly I really love that, even though he had planned the whole trip to a T, the proposal itself was spontaneous and totally done in the moment. So in that respect, my outfit was perfect!

Oh wow..I just love that he planned all that out and then proposed spontaneously!

Me too! I think it''s really fun that the actual proposal ended up being a surprise for him too! I mean, how often is a guy taken by surprised at his own proposal? That is my absolute favorite part of the whole thing.

Oh man. I was half wearing an ill-fitting cotton tube dress, because he proposed as I was slinking into it to try it on in front of the mirror. The bottom of the dress was bunching up my undies, and the top was all scrunched up under my arms.

But I don''t care...I love that the proposal was totally impromptu. He just couldn''t wait to ask me, it was so adorable!

Oh my gosh BabyBlue.. how cute! I didn''t know guys still did stuff like that!! Well, mine came out of NOWHERE on Christmas Eve (he said it was supposed to be Christmas morning but he couldn''t wait) I had on a silly PINK victorias secret pj set with lips all over them!! And he video taped the whole thing! How did I not know you ask?! He wrote me a song and said he wanted to sing it to me as my gift (he is a musician).. so I didn''t think too too much of it! So, at the end of the song he gets down on one knee and sings ''baby, i love you, baby i need you, baby will you marry me....''

ahh it was too sweet.

anyway yeah thats what i was wearing!!

Wow...that''s really cute!! I''m touched...

hahaha I flew in on a redeye from california. went home showered, napped for two hours and then threw on the first pair of shorts and a tshirt I could find so I could go to a July 4th BBQ at my then fiance''s place. I was still tired from the trip and spent the whole day bbqing and just hanging out with friend when he proposed to me at night (in the foggy mist because we tried to go see fireworks in the pouring rain). My tshirt had a big muffin on it that said ''Ah Munna Eat Choo!'', I smelled like BBQ and I had huge bags under my eyes.

yeah i definitly wouldn''t say it was my most glam moment but I wouldn''t trade it for the world. :D

What''s funnier is that since my sister and brother in law knew that my husband had the ring, when he took me out to see the fireworks they commented ''you don''t think he''s going to propose do you? it''s raining and she has that big muffin tshirt on...''

Your story made me and my DH laugh out loud! I love the shirt!

To answer the original question..I was in PJs, and it was morning and hadn''t brushed my teeth yet. But, no regrets!

Is it weird that I have absolutely NO RECOLLECTION of what I was wearing?
Nah, I don''t remember either. We had gone to a concert in Boston, and then we decided to drive up to Maine, to one of my favorite lighthouses (it was midnight, by the way). On the way home, we packed in case we decided to stay overnight once we got to Maine (only a little over an hour from home). While we were packing, my FI got the ring and put it in his jacket pocket.

I don''t remember what I was wearing, but it must have been jeans and some sort of long sleeved shirt. It was the beginning of May, so it was still chilly at night.

This is a very cute thread!

I was wearing cut off jean shorts a white tank and a red hoody.

We were on the beach. I would have worn a cute dress if I knew. Worse than the outfit was the snack I brought down the the beach. I could have brought wine and cheese and crackers but no. I brought a bag of goldfish and mixed in with the golfish were some Vienna finger cookies.

I was wearing a Victoria''s Secret robe with nothing on underneath. We''d just finished a day of cross-country skiing at Mammoth and I had just taken a shower in our hotel room.

i had just woke up and went to take pics of the sunrise in antigua. DH sleepily said where are you going? i said I''m just running outside to take pics of the sunrise. i was taking pics in my bright orange nike gym shorts and a white tank
9.gif
when DH came outside and proposed on the beach. did i mention how these shorts literally glow...

. he was going to wait until we went out to dinner that night...when i''d be all cute and dressed up, and go for a walk on the beach to propose, but he couldn''t wait.

I''d never thought about that at all! I was wearing jeans and a polka-dot strappy top. I''m happy enough with what I was wearing. If I''d known it was coming I probably would have worn a summer dress or something more feminine.

I had no idea, but because my FI told me that he had a surprise for me, I put on a chocolate brown linen sundress. I guess that''s not all that uncommon for me in the summer, but its still not my absolute favorite thing on earth. He was wearing a brown polo, so we kinda matched. We went to the nicest italian place in town (this is iowa, a sundress was beyond dressy enough attire, haha) and then to each of our parents'' house and to his grandmas...so I didn''t need to be too dressed up. It worked out pretty well!

Absolutely not. I was wearing something I absolutely never ever wear and looked like a homeless person basically.
Here is the story.

It was Nov and there was a blizzard and I had no clue what was about to happen.
We had had a lovely dinner with friends the night before(Sat) at Il Mulino in Greenwich Village and Greg was acting very happy and silly but I just thought he had too much to drink LOL. Anyway, the next day we wake up and it is nasty and yukky and grey outside with snow beginning late morning with a harsh wind so the snow was cutting you in the face. We spent most of the day lounging about and being lazy. Greg did not live with me but we spent weekends together and it was Sunday. So Greg suggests we go for a walk and I say Ok but it was so crappy out so I put on my torn and raggy jeans, black sweater and I put my hair in a ski cap with a hood over that! I put on this big bulky ski coat with hood and scarf and gloves and you could barely make me out behind all that! I was looking pretty raggy

And we took a walk in the park and then all of a sudden Greg stops in front of "our" tree and gets down on one knee and I about vomited

Seriously because I wasn't ready (ever in my mind to get married). We had been dating for 5 years and I guess it was do or die LOL. Anyway his proposal was so sweet. I remember it almost word for word and even though I felt sick for a few days I calmed down after he let me pick a long engagement
emwink.gif
And 4 years after our wedding I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made...ever.

But, to say I was not looking good when he proposed is the understatement of the year to answer your question

AWWWW! I love the sweet impromptu proposals. FI proposed to me twice, once on an island and he told me to wear my prettiest outfit because he was taking me somewhere special. The second time, we were as we are on any day -- in comfy casual outfits. I was in a sundress and he was in biz casual. (((swoon))) I treasure the second proposal so much more because it was so US. (Since this is Pricescope, "US" as in myself and FI, not Ultrasonic ring cleaner!)

Me either!!! I can''t for the life of me rememeber what I was wearing. We actually have a few pictures, so I could go and see. I think I was just so thrilled to be engaged that''s all I can remember. We also ate at this fabulous restaurant afterwards. I can even taste the food sometimes when I think about it, but I can''t remember what I was wearing!

I don''t either! And I LOVE clothes so much it''s my job! Oops!

NO!! I looked very sloppy, and my hair was a mess. I think that''s why I didn''t think to take pictures.

It was early Spring but we were in AZ on vacation instead of WI where it was still freezing. We weren''t prepared for it to be THAT cold at the Grand Canyon so I had on 2 t-shirts, a sweatshirt, and a light jacket. Photos show me with purse and small jacket in hand (using jacket for mittens) and a bright red nose. When we got there it was visibility zero and snowing. It thankfully cleared somewhat and then he asked at one of the lookout points. He had my mom and stranger ready to go with our cameras (gotta love him for that!!)
My hands were still ruined from the WI winter. Had realllllly dry, red chapped skin and had just broken a nail.....that alone should have tipped me off! No hand shots for me but as far as my clothes...could have been better, could have been worse!

great stories! thanks for sharing

i was wearing a SF giants baseball shirt and pair of capri pants with flip flops. we were headed to the giants game when they were playing the padres in san diego last september. (we are both HUGE baseball fans)
i was shocked when we pulled up to our hotel on coronado island across from the ballpark, which my FI passed off as "a great deal he got on priceline" - i totally believed him because he''s so good at that stuff. i wasnt suspicious at all..he totally played it cool until he got on one knee in the hotel before we left for the game. then we had amazing seats right above the giants dugout, went out to a nice dinner afterwards, and enjoyed the hotel later...

a perfect night with the perfect outfit! :)

I was in PJs and just finished getting ready for bed. I don't remember which PJs I was wearing. Honestly, until this thread I hadn't thought about what I was wearing. I have no clue what he was wearing.

I was happy with what I was wearing. We had just agreed to spend the rest of our lives together, what's not to be happy about?
