Hi everyone,
While I''m still a LIW, i figured it doesnt hurt to start looking at venues :) FF and i have been to the BVI before, and will be going there again june 2009.
I was wondering if anyone has gone to a wedding, or had a wedding on any of the islands. What do you recomend?

We (FF) both love Tortola/Beef Island, where the Last Resort Resturant is. infact, getting married there would be AWESOME (they have a great cover band

).

The other places we like, though touristy, are soggy dollar bar (jost van dyke, i think?) levericks bay (i didnt see any wedding packaged there), St. John (USVI), and another one that is completely escaping my memory.

Any suggestions?

Have you been to the Soggy Dollar Bar? It is indeed on Jost Van Dyke. They call it the Soggy Dollar Bar because the only way you can get to it is by swimming from your boat. Unless you are already on the island, of course. Anyway, the bar is very touristy and not particularly pretty. I would not get married there. There is a resort right next to the bar, though I forget what it is called. It's an exclusive resort, might be just the place. And the beach right there is a GORGEOUS white-sand beach with amazing turquoise blue clear water (awesome to snorkle in, there is a resident sea turtle that lives there and like to have his photo taken).

Another place to consider on Jost is on the other side of the island. It's called Foxy's Taboo. It's actually quite a classy place, but the beach is not as beautiful as the beach near the Soggy Dollar. Foxy's Taboo is not to be confused with Foxy's Bar; Foxy's Taboo is owned by the daughter of the guy who owns Foxy's, they are two different places.

yes, we''ve been to the soggy dollar. I agree it is super touristy, but we both like it. we spent two full days there, and went back for a third! maybe it''s something in the drinks... ;)

I''ve heard of Foxy''s bar, but not foxy''s taboo. I''ll keep those in mind when we go back in june!

Thank you!

Here''s a pic of the Soggy Dollar bar

If you go, have a Painkiller for me!

mmmmm. pain killers. we have 4 out of 6 cups left from that place.

I had to chime in because I LOVE the Soggy Dollar Bar, too! My family charters a boat from the Moorings every few years and makes sure to stop on Jost Van Dyke to get a few Painkillers! I agree that it might not be the best place for a wedding, but if it''s a place that you love, why not?! You could always do the wedding on an island close by and then do an after party at the Soggy Dollar Bar or at Foxy''s. All those islands are so close together that it''d be easy to hop on over to another one after the ceremony! I am jealous just thinking about it!
