my finger is quite tiny (engagement ring is 4.75 and a little loose). my question is if my wedding ring should be larger or smaller or same size as my engagement ring?

the jeweler recommended i go with 4.25 since he says that''s my true size, but it sounds so small, and i''ve been ok with the e-ring so far. he says we can always size it up later, but not down (it''s a shared prong setting).

what have you girls done? thanks

How wide is your e-ring versus your wedding band? I originally had both my e-ring and wedding band in size 5... come to realize that I''m actually a size 4 (realized this after wearing both for several months and then one day I reached into my purse for something and both rings slid right off my finger into my purse!

). I sized my wedding band down to a 4 (2mm width) and my e-ring down to a 4.5 (4mm width) because the wider band on my e-ring fits more snugly on my finger.
If your two rings are the same width, I think you might be ok with both being the same size... I''ve heard that wearing both rings together also helps them stay more snug on your finger, but I''m sure others will chime in here...

Both of mine are 5.25, but it definitely feels tighter to have both on at the same time (I like to wear it around the house sometimes since I can''t wear it in public yet lol).

If your engagment ring feels good, I definitely wouldnt'' go smaller because it''ll feel tighter just having 2 rings on your finger.

Hey, Janine,

My rings are a little loose--I wear a 7.75, though my jeweller said a 7.5 is probably better--but when I wear the two rings together they feel tighter. My jeweller told me that those who do get different sizes usually make the outside ring smaller--in most cases that'' the engagement ring. He also said that those who order eternity rings sometimes get them a bit on the loose side in case their fingers swell at all, but he said that can be risky since wearing them loose means having to be more careful with it. Maybe this has to do with us being near the ocean, but he said the main reason people lose rings that are loose is because they jump into cold water, their fingers shrink and the band falls off, so you just have to be careful.

janine--my engagement ring is a size 4 and is a touch big-- my jeweller recommeded that i not go down to the 3.75 size b/c once i got the wedding band on it would be much more snug. He was right, with both bands the 4 is perfect (just have to wait for the canadian winter to kick in--b/c the cold makes my hands shrink like crazy!)

wow, so i''m not the only one with tiny fingers!

well, it makes sense to not make my ering smaller (since it''ll be snugger with 2 rings), but i wonder if it''s odd to have such a discrepancy between wedding ring and e-ring (it would be 4.25 and 4.75). I feel like I should be going with 4.5 for the wedding ring, but the jewelwer had be second guess that when he said he could make it bigger, but not smaller. plus there will be times when i just wear the wedding ring alone..

My wedding band is a 4.5 and my e-ring 4.75. I can''t stand my rings tight! Do whatever you think is right. My jeweler tried to talk me into getting a smaller size and I am SO glad I didn''t. Someone on PS has a ring size of 2.5 so your ring size is pretty normal around here!

My e-ring is a 3.5, which is perfect. But I got a 3.75 wedding band just to give me a little wiggle room, since it''s also an eternity band and cannot be sized much if at all. So far it''s worked out fine! But it''s also been really hot since I got married, and my rings fit much more loosely in the winter.

My ring size is a 4.5, but I swell easily, unfortunately. How I can weigh a buck-5 and swell to enormous proportions, I will NEVER know!!

With that being said, I went with a size 5 comfort fit band (mine is quite wide) and then also went with two size 5 wedding bands. The overall width is 14mm, so it''s actually pretty darn snug altogether...I almost wished I''d gone a bit bigger on the bands, but maybe this will help cure me of my love of salty foods once I get all 3 on my greedy little fingers???

I was just debating the same thing! My true finger size is 4.25, and I ended up getting 4.5 for both the ering and eternity band. I thought about getting 4.5 eternity band and 4.25 ering, but in the end just decided to keep them a little loose. Even though it''s summer and maybe my fingers will be smaller in winter, but I just thought the probability of me gaining weight in the future is much higher than loosing weight...unfortunately....besides I hate the feeling of tight rings. So as long as they dont slip off my fingers I''m fine w/ loose rings
