I wanted to ask you all your thoughts on the bride and groom buying eachother wedding gifts and when exactly should I give it to my groom?
The night of the rehersal?
Right after the ceremony?
On our honeymoon?
im saving to buy him something pretty big and I wanted to find out what everyone else is doing. thanks!

I bought a VERY nice corset and lingerie set for the wedding night and he is covering a lovely evening at B&B that night. We felt anything we bought to do with the wedding would be more about the wedding than about us as a couple, so we decided to go with something more personal.
We also ddin''t want to gifts like watches and jewelry since that''s what we got for each other for the wedding.

Thank you for the response and Yes that is what I mean, when did you two exchange the watches/jewelry that you got for each other for the wedding?

My husband and I didn''t exchange gifts, but if we had, it probably would have been after the rehearsal dinner.

he''s already getting a gift that day - ME! ;)

all kidding aside, i didnt even think about this. my guess is that we wont exchange gifts since the wedding itself is such an expense for us. but if we did exchange, i would give it before we took our pics (pre-ceremony...day of.)

I think it''s sweet when the bride and groom send the gift to the other person as they are getting ready. You don''t get to see each other open the gifts but I think it seems nice.

aliciagirl: I think that idea is awesome too, and i thought i could give it to his best man to give him that morning, i love it, but then i wont get to see his face when he opens it.

dmbfiredancer: thanks for the feedback, and i LOVE LOVE LOVE dmb. I plan to get a firedancer tatoo at some point, just can''t decide where i want it yet, LOVE THEM.
how many times have you seen them? me - about 10 or so - not much

we exchanged the night before the wedding. instead of going out with the bridal party, we declined and spent some time together the night before. i really really treasure that time we shared. it was private and allowed us to really breathe together before our big day. we exchanged gifts and since we were together, we got to see each other''s reactions and get the reasoning behind the gift. it also allowed the gift exchange to be private.

typically, the best man is sent over to give the bride the gift on the wedding day and the maid of honor does the same with the groom. that way the bride and groom don''t see each other. but, i liked our way much much better.

we also parted ways right before midnight, so technically we didn''t see each other on our wedding day before the big walk down the aisle.

I was in a wedding earlier this summer where the groom and bride sent gifts to each other while getting ready. I was with the bride when she opened the gift. It was beautiful pair of chandalier pearl earrings. The card is what killed her though, It was so sweet...we didn''t read it, but she got all teary and it was just wondeful seeing her sitting there with her mom and closest friends and getting a gift from the man she about to marry. So sweet!!!

She gave him a watch....i think

THank you all for your ppsts, i will think about the two options and maybe run them by him as well.
Im so excited for the wedding and its not til July 11 2009! at least its less than a yr away! LOL

galvana, i''ve seen DMB 120 times. (yes, a bit crazy - i know!)
i met dave back in 2002 - the same day my FI and i started dating!
my FI just got to meet him last weekend at deer creek (he''s been to over 200 shows.) i always wanted a firedancer tattoo as well, but i chickened out. i am going to see them again at the end of august here in LA and in san diego. :)

i always thought we''d end up with a total DMB themed wedding but it''s more of a beach theme now with subtle dmb things thrown in.
nice to see another fan here!

DMBFIREDANCER: 120 times?? wow. how did you get to meet him? what was that like?
I want to get better seats, lounge passes, and to meet him but can''t seem to figure out how?!?!
any ideas would be great! Tx

I plan on giving him his gift the night before I believe..I was going to do the day of..but night before is probably better. I am going to give him a pair of my Grandpa's cuff links to wear. FI doesn't have any nice ones..and my grandpa can't be there since he's passed away..so I thought it would be nice. Not sure what FI's going to get me..

I gave DH an antique rose gold watch chain to wear his gold pocket watch with (it was his 21st birthday present from his father - who apparently cried when he saw DH was wearing it for the wedding), a pair of victorian gold cufflinks and a 1920''s sterling silver hipflask which I am having engraved with our monogram.

I was so stressed on the Thursday night before the wedding (the flowers had all arrived in the wrong colours!) and so he drove 2 hours down from London and took me away to a hotel for the night. I gave him the gifts then - it was the last bit of peace and quiet we would have before the wedding.

I bought my husband two wedding gifts...

First I bought him a brand new 2007 Motorcycle...and had our wedding date put on it in chrome. Since we were getting married in July, I actually gave it to him a month or so early so he could actually enjoy it.

Second, I bought him a silver luggage tag from Tiffany''s that said "the trip of a lifetime" which he used on our honeymoon and now on his laptop bag.

He gave me 2+ cttw diamond earrings...which he sent to me on our wedding day
