Hey everyone!
Im trying to figure out timing for everything and im having a really hard time. The ceremony starts at 1 but i know that wont start right on time because Im cuban and my Fiance is Jamaican and neither of our cultures are known for being on time. So im Thinking we will actually start at 1:20ish. Then i want about max. an hr long ceremony. Now here comes my question, do you think guest will linger around the church while we take pictures? (im not going to any special location to take pictures, im just going to take them at the church and the reception) or do you think guest will promptly leave the church? also how long will pictures take? The reception venue in about 25 minutes (according to mapquest so with traffic and traffic light im thinking close to 35 minutes, my fiance is going to make the drive next saturday while im at work to get a better estimate)Do you think it is possible to have a 3 o''clock reception or is that pushing things way too much? and do you think 3:30 would make a difference or am i going to have to go with 4 oclock? the thing is i also dont want to long of a gap between ceremony and reception.
So if anyone understood my rambling, maybe they can give me some advice or trips to figuring this all out? thanks!!!

I''m not going to be much of a help because I''m going to respond with more questions, but here goes: How long do you have the reception venue booked for? Is it the standard 5 hours, or do you have it for longer? Does the time the reception ends make a difference to you?

I''m guessing that even if some family and friends hang around the church to watch pictures, some will still head over to the reception, so I would say start your reception at 3 as long as the venue isn''t going to kick you out after 5 hours, since many of your guests might not get there right at 3.

3:30 would probably be better, but to me it seems a little weird to start a reception not on the hour. I don''t know why, and I feel like it shouldn''t be weird, but it still seems weird.

Well right now we only have it for 4 hours, but when we meet with them we are going to discuss extending it an hour. I dont feel like 4 hours is long enough. I dont really care what time the recption ends, but it needs to start before 4 is the cut off for lunch. But the the start time for dinner is 6 so what happens is i start between 4 and 6? dunno guess thats another question to add to my list of questions for the venue meeting!

Thats another question to ask, for the dinner package it says after your time is up they charge you $300 for every hour you go over, (which i think is ridiculous cause other places i have looked say the place is yours all night and the only thing that ends when you time is done is the serving but you can stay and party) but then lunch package says nothing about this, im guessing maybe they double book like a lunch reception and a dinner reception all in one night! thats would be terrible :-(

Thats my biggest dilemma I think 3:30 is such an awkward time to start a reception, so it seems weird to me to lol, well hopefully we can get an extra hour or 2. Thanks so much for your help!!
