Wedding Wedding Budgets & the Economy

Interesting article about how the economy has affected not only couples but vendors as well. I was outraged when I read the section about the brides not getting their dresses when the shop closed down! Could you imagine?! Although I think most wedding-related vendors are overpriced, the article gave a different viewpoint on the subject. Has the economy affected your wedding planning or made no difference?

Wow, the part of that article that got me was when someone said "there was no part in my wedding book to tell me how to deal with my reception place closing.

It sounds like a LOT of us around here have been dealing with some sort of vendor let down. There really should be parts of wedding planning guides to give advice on how to deal with deadbeat vendors!

Since my wedding is in 2 days!!!! it''s only been recently that I''ve felt the crunch of the economy, and basically at that point it was too late to change anything. Honestly, if I had it all to do over again, I probably would have scaled down at least a little bit, but as of yesterday, all my bills were paid, so all I can do is enjoy the things I''ve already paid for!

Oh Sabine it''s so close! I can''t wait to see pictures of the whole thing, it''ll be so lovely. I''m not planning a wedding myself, but I found the article interesting because it spoke about how vendors were feeling the crunch. However, you would think that if the industry is struggling that badly that prices would be cut, not increased, to gain more business. I could not imagine how a bride/groom would feel if their venue closed down close to their wedding date.

The article also listed that the average budget was now around $29,000! *yikes*
