So my fiance and I are having problems finding engagement rings that we like.

For me, I'm looking for a flat, beveled wedding ring with 2 tones, very much like this one (http://www.titaniumera.com/catalog/detail?cid=784&pid=551). Originally I wanted to get a tungsten carbide ring for its durability and shine, but I've been having trouble finding one in the width I want, which is 4mm. Do they just not make tungsten carbides this thin? I've only seen 4mm tungsten carbide rings in the domed style. If not, I guess I'll just settle with titanium.

For my fiance, she's having trouble finding a wedding band that looks good next to her engagement ring. The ering I got her is that classic 6-prong solitaire ring (pic is attached to the post). If any girls have this same setting and can show me pictures of the wedding bands you have chosen to wear with it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey RPI...

I don't have an answer for you, or at least not the one you're looking for...

But I was wondering if you had ever considered going custom. I had both my e-ring and wedding band custom-made, and so did my DH, because we couldn't find anything we liked out there (even though I wanted something very simple). I liked that I could dictate the angles, the width, everything (yeah, control freak). I am very happy with how they turned out.

ETA: beautiful ring, by the way! Congrats on your engagement.

Thanks for the suggestion claudinam, but part of the trouble is that she can''t even envision what would look good next to her ering. We''ve been looking through all sorts of websites to see different styles and what not. Only a few come close but are not within our budget. Which also leads me to think that getting something custom made might be over our budget as well.

I hope other readers have pics they can share.

Hey RIP

I understand what you''re saying about budget, but custom doesn''t necessarily mean more expensive. And when you don''t even know what you want it''s even harder to even think about custom, but a good designer can help with ideas based on style, budget, etc. Anyway, if you change your mind let me know and I''ll give you my guys''s #.

Also, I would suggest that you post this same question on the SMTR section. People here are incredibly helpful, and will give you all kinds of suggestions, but the more information they have, the better.

Anyway, here are some pictures from when I was looking for rings...

RIP - the one below more for you than for her...not exactly what you're looking for, but it is two-tone and may just to spark some ideas...

RPI - i agree with everyone - go custom. As long as you have a trusted jeweler, they wont hose you with the price. always shop around first!

Is there a jeweler (even if it is out of your price range) near by? if so you can take her to go try on different wedding bands to see what will go best. I am having the same problem. My ering is an heirloom, but the wedding band is broken, and i would have to create a whole new ring if i wanted the orginal design. we''re thinking about customizing the wedding band insted to our own liking.

For your lady's band, there are COUNTLESS pics of that style of solitaire with wedding bands. I'll see if I can find a thread, but if you look, it shouldn't be too hard. Does she have ANY idea what she wants? Because just saying you'd like to see that style of ring with different bands is VERY, very broad.

For yours, you're talking about this style of band, right?

But in 4mm? Why don't you just contact that (or any other) vendor and ask about a custom width? I happen to know that the TitaniumStyle people are very accommodating, because that's where we got my FI's titanium + platinum band.

Your fiance''s engagement ring SCREAMS eternity wedding band to me. I absolutely adore classic solitaires with eternity bands!

Just my opinion, of course

I agree...that''s what I ended up doing too.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. My fiance finally decided on getting a channel set type of ring.

I''m still having some trouble deciding on where to buy my tungsten carbide ring. I''ve been to the mall stores and I''ve been scouring all over the internet. You''ve got the sub $100 vendors but also places that sell them for over $200. What''s the deal with the big price difference? Is there really a quality issue here?
