Okay this is probably a weird question, but since I got engaged in late Spring, I haven''t encountered wearing winter gloves with my ER on. Some of my leather gloves are quite fitted and I worry about them squeezing my ER or somehow damaging it in the process of pulling the gloves on and off. Other knit gloves seem to leave tons of fuzz and lint on the ER too...

I guess my question is what type of winter gloves do you wear to least damage/dirty your ring as well as which types are most comfortable to put on and remove!

My ering is set very low, so I don't have an issue with wearing any of my leather gloves (though they're not super tight either). I have some black fleece gloves that are a bit tight, but also don't have issues (these aren't as pretty as leather, but they're good for driving and are very easy to wear with an ering). My favorite gloves to wear are a pair of alpaca wool mittens

They absolutely leave fuzz on my ering prongs though

but I just pick it out. They don't leave fuzz in the band, just the main stone prongs, so it's pretty easy to pick out.

A good tip I've heard is to turn your ring around so the stone is on your palm side. This should help you wear any pair of gloves.

You didn't get the memo?

Every winter all the ladies mail their diamonds to me.
I'm still waiting for yours.

I can fit my e-ring under tight leather gloves just fine, no problem. I sometimes wear very fitted vintage leather gloves (the only kind that will actually fit my short fingers). It just makes a bulge on the finger under the leather. The fuzzy sweatery gloves are even easier of course, but our kitty Rat has a war against them. He sneaks them away any chance he gets, then hides them, then sneaks back out with a fully gnawed and kitty-spitty glove; he'll even filch them out of pockets. (He then gets to keep them, and they become Yet Another Nibblemitt for him to play with; I guess he likes the squeaky sound they make when chewed.) So. Leather gloves don't get stolen by Rat, so that's what I use.

Believe me, I would love to!

I wear tighter leather gloves with fleece lining and the fuzzies drive me insane. Since the gloves are tighter, I turn my rings to the inside of my hand when I put them on - it makes it a bit more comfortable, and helps a *bit* with the fuzzies stuck in the prongs.

I don't have any advice, but wanted to say that today when I was putting my gloves on I was thinking to myself that I really hate having to wear gloves because I hate covering up my ring! Florida, you say...? Sounds good to me!

Me too! I turn my rings inside of my hand (so the diamond is on the palm side) when I wear gloves. I''m paranoid about snagging the diamond loose when I take the gloves off.
And yes, i too would like to move to Florida!

Gloves??? I''ve heard of them.

I wear tight leather gloves and they fit just fine over my e-ring, which is set pretty high, so I imagine you''ll be fine.

I''ve already been wearing gloves for a couple of weeks now here in Chicagoland.

Haven I only got back to Chicago a few days ago and ventured out yesterday w/o gloves. Let''s just say my gift card at Macys came in really handy when my fingers started feeling numb while outside!

Ugh!! I have to fly to Chicago the first week of Feb for business. I have no idea how I am supposed to keep warm.

miracles--You should swing by our house. Our front hall closet is stocked with one basket full of gloves and mittens, one basket of hats and earmuffs, and more scarves than we could ever wear. We also managed to fill that entire closet with winter coats, even though we''re only two people!
Seriously--if you need to borrow something, we''re here!

It''s brutal, isn''t it? DH was just complaining that we don''t have any transition time between fall and winter, it goes from lovely cool fall weather straight into winter in a matter of days. Our poor pup, she''s already getting shivery on our walks.

Great question, MagsyMay! I''m glad you asked, because I have been wondering too.

I live in the SF Bay area and although we don''t really need gloves here (most of the time!), I have been thinking of wearing gloves when my ring arrives while riding the subway. This way I can keep my ring on but conceal it as well. I get super creeped out on mass transit sometimes.

You know Haven, we may have to plan a mini GTG! Unfortunately, it is the Valentines Day weekend and I''m sure you will have something planned. Although our business meeting takes place on Thursday, my co-worker''s husband is flying in that evening and we are planning to stay at the Palmer House and come home on Sunday night. I will have Fri, Sat and Sun to enjoy a bit of Chicago.

I have no plans except to find some good pizza, do some shopping, and maybe a stop at Second City. I really don''t know anything to do in Chicago. I should try to see something....like the Sears Tower or whatever is in Chicago...

I have tight leather gloves, and my ring turns when my hands get cold. It drives me crazy and is super uncomfortable!

After hearing about Phoenix almost losing her Leon Mege when she removed her gloves

it made me really grateful that not only do I have no bling on my hands...yet....but that I live in Southern Cal.

We should plan a mini GTG! DH and I don''t take holidays too seriously, so I doubt we''ll have anything planned. We should get the other Chicago peeps in on this, we could have a "Yay, Miracles is in town!" GTG!

If you''re in, I''ll start a thread tomorrow! (I''m off to watch Parenthood with DH, one of my favorite 80s movies.

Oh my. That is scary. I was worried about that last ski season, but I learned very quickly how uncomfortable ring and gloves were, so I went without my e-ring (was not married at the time). This season I''ll just wear my wedding band.

Nonsense. They send them to me, since I am in the southern hemisphere. It is summer here all the stones are just gliterring away in the sun.

Then, when it is winter here, there is still no need for gloves so I just keep them. Believe me, they are all quite happy.

Thanks for the responses!

Beachrunner: My ring spins a ton lately and although I''ve only worn gloves twice, it is super uncomfortable! Ugh.

I''ll have to try it with the diamond on my palm side, although I worry that I''d bash it that way too.
