We had to say goodbye to our black lab Jasper today. She was 13 1/2 and we knew it was time to let her go. I''ve had her since she was 10 weeks old, before my kids were born. She was like my first child. I am so sad. If you have a minute to wish her well, it would mean a lot to me. Thanks.

Oh, iluvcarats, what a sweet sweet fur baby. I am so sorry for your pain and aching today. Labs are just wonderful lovebugs. I''m sure Jasper had 13 1/2 years of your loving care, which I know she is talking about with other pups somewhere in a heavenly doggie park.

For a dog as big as a lab, that''s a long life. You must have been doing something right. Just remember, you did right by her and that''s what''s most important. Hugs

What a loss for you and your family. I grew up with labs, they are amazing dogs. So sweet and loyal. Jasper was all that and more to you I''m sure. I am sending you a hug, and praying for you.

Oh, I''m so sorry. My dog was sick recently and I was just devastated. It can be so hard to lose a furry friend.

I''m sure she had a very happy doggie life. And it''s clear that she was loved very much. You''re in my thoughts.

She lived a long and happy life, that''s the most we can hope for with our beloved pets, and I''m sure she will live on in your memory and in your children''s memories too! I love those pictures of them hugging her, that is the sweetest thing!

it is terribly difficult losing a pet but your Jasper looked well loved for and happy, he looks like he had a really happy life.

!!!. I know how difficult it is to say goodbye. It is absolutely heartbreaking. You are losing a member of your family.

I hope this poem will help you, during this difficult time. A dear friend sent it to me, when we lost our last Lhasa in 1999. It was very comforting for DH and I.


Lend Me A Pup

For you to love him while he lives
and to mourn for him when he is gone.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Please take comfort in the many years you had with your sweep pup and know how lucky she was to have had such a loving family. Biggest hugs outing.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Just seeing the pictures of your sweet Jasper makes me tear up. I have a soft spot in my heart for black labs as I grew up with one. I can well remember the ache you must be feeling today -- we went through it two summers ago when our German Shepherd died. I''m thinking of you and your family and your lovely Jasper.
