For a party tomorrow I''ll serve two huge lasagnas.
They are frozen and must bake for over two hours.

We don''t have AC and it will be hot tomorrow.

If I cook them in our kitchen the house will be miserably hot when guests arrive at 5 PM.

I asked my neighbor, who has AC and is invited, to cook it.
She said, no problem.

Was I rude to ask?

no.

nope, especially if you said why then it should make complete sense to her.

Nah, as long as you explained why, it makes total sense.

No, that makes perfect sense and was pretty thoughtful of you...

Now, is your neighbor invited to the party? If not, send her a nice card and box of chocolate or something to formally thank you for helping her out...

Yes, he said that she was invited.

Not at all. If I were your neighbor I''d be happy to let you use my oven.

Not rude at all. If anything?? You are being a thoughtful host not having the house all hot in this weather. Your neighbor sounds like someone, I'd like to live next door to....

Hoping you have a wonderful party Kenny.

I think you were perfectly fine to ask especially since you have invited her.

Thanks ladies.
I was a little worried she''s say yes but think to herself, "Who does he think he is?"

After hearing your replies I feel better.
She''s really the perfect neighbor.

If I was your neighbor and I had A/C I would be happy to help :)

Just make sure you don''t make her come to your house to pick them up herself and bring them back herself :)

She sounds like a good neighbor!

Nope I don''t think you were rude at all. Can I come...I love lasagna!

maybe a thank you note after the party would be a good follow up.

Not at all, especially since she''s invited to the party (I assume she''s coming). It''s not like you asked her to assemble them and do all the work ... she just has to put them in her oven for a few hours. No biggie.

Rude to the neighbor? No.

Rude to tell us about your lasagna and not invite us? Yes.
Now I''m thinking about lasagna and it''s all your fault.

Curious, where do you live where it''s still that hot? I''m in SoCal without air conditioning and I''ve started to use the oven.

she said yes, she's invited to the party....and she deserves a special hug and chocolates!

mz

ps no it was not rude....but to seal the deal, get her a GOOD box of chocolates

It would only be rude if the neighbor WASN''T invited.

We are in Southern California and do not have AC.
The hood fan over our stove does not work very well and the oven really heats up the house.

Ditto and the largest slice of cake to take home, what a sweetie!

I must be the only one....
If you came over and were like "Here babe, cook these" I might smack ya. But if you offer to put them in the oven, do the cooking and then COME BACK to pick them up, it would be NO PROBLEM. If you asked me to walk them over, (which is ok..) I might wonder since I''m paranoid that you invited me only because of my AC and oven and would probably be put off slightly. I think either way, it''s fine as long as you come back for them and don''t expect them to do the cooking for ya.

*shrug*

Hey Kenny, we live in So Cal too, so if you ever need another oven give me a call.......

um, i assumed he was going to do the putting in the oven and delivery gig himself.........otherwise, yeah, its an interruption of my day to be someone else''s cook. however, i''d make my oven available to a neighbor i was on good terms with.

ps i might help to carry one over to his house as i''m going there anyway.

HI:

I''m jealous about the heat. Cold and snowy here.

Sounds like you have a good relationship with your neighbour--and we all get by with a little help from our friends. Not rude at all.

cheers--Sharon
