So my "best friend" had choosen a dress for me. Problem is that she doesn''t really know how to shop for big hips and big *coughrearscough* so it looked awful. Being that she was open with the dresses and we are paying for them ourselves, we went shopping last night for a different dress. I have seen this one online before and loved it but the overlay is black which didn''t match her colors and you had to purchase online.

Well when we got to David''s, not only did they have the dress but instead of the black overlay (as in the model pictures) they had a brown overlay which matched her colors perfectly. It was meant to be. It''s a little big in the bust area and in the waist so I need that altered.

Please excuse my big arms and my extremely white legs LOL. I''m doing arm exercises and am in desperate need for a tan.

This is the dress on the model and the other dress is the one she had chosen for me (in champagne). It''s a really beautiful dress but its a bubble dress which doesn''t look right on wide hips (plus I would never wear that dress again and if I''m paying for it I wanted a dress I would wear again).

I love the detailing! Looks gorgeous on you!

I saw this dress in David's yesterday and it's very pretty!! Totally wearable agian too, Congrats!!

It''s really beautiful and looks great on you! I can''t wait to see how you accessorize it!

That is a great dress!!! Much better than the other one, IMO.

Who''s the maker? It doesn''t look like a DB from their site.

gosh, that''s just lovely on you - and i would wear that again for sure!

The dress you picked is perfect. It looks great on you and is very pretty. To be honest, I don''t think the dress the bride picked would look good on most people, aside from perfect model bodies and there''s not too many of them out there!

It looks like it creates a big hippy body- who wants that?! Most people''s hips are big enough on their own!

Fiery, I love your MOH dress. It definitely doesn''t look bridesmaid-y, and it''s clear you''ll be able to wear it on many more occasions. Great pick!

P.S. Sorry to threadjack, but is that your puppy in your avatar? I remember you wanted one, so I was wondering if your puppy dream has come true.

Thanks ladies!

It is a DB!! Its one of their special occasion dresses. I'm not sure why they don't offer the champagne with brown overlay. It has to be ordered online but some stores will carry them.

I agree its so much better (on me) than the other one. I looked awful in the other one but she was so happy with it. Thankfully the obnoxious clerk came over and said "oh now that is just plain wrong on you"

LOL She saved me.

Tricky! I didn''t even think to look there! ::scurries off...::

Very cute dress indeed! The dress you selected looks lovely on you, good job. I didn''t know it was even possible to find a BM dress that could be worn again for other occassions.

I have no idea why a sad face appeared on the top of that quote box. LOL

Ooh, fiery, I really like this dress! And apparently so does my sister, who''s one of my BMs and is super picky. I''m a little confused though about the colors....in your picture it looks like you were able to get champagne w/ brown overlay. However, on the DB site I only see an option for "Cognac and brown overlay." Is that the one you got? Or was it just a fluke that the store happened to have a champagne/brown one?

I noticed that this morning when I looked on the site. I'm not sure if it was a fluke or not but supposedly its an online order. I would call up all of the local DBs and ask if they by chance have them. If not, I can check here. I know they had one on the manequin (sp?) that was a 6/8 in the brown overlay and I can check the other store close to my house to see if they have any. Then maybe you can contact that store and see if you can do a phone order and have them ship it

Edit: I just called the one near me and they have the brown/champagne in 6, 10, 14, and 16. The dress can be altered and you can place a phone order to be shipped so if your store doesn't have them then you can contact them: 954-517-9449. They would just need her bust and waist measurements and you can take it to any DB for alterations.

Oh and the one I have is brown/champagne (forgot to mention).

Loooove the dress! If it''s an online order...I think I may have to order one!!

Suprisingly they have some really nice party dresses (BM dresses not so much but that''s standard).

I think these are really cute too

And I think this dress is great for an outdoor/afternoon wedding:

Thanks, fiery! I''ll call around a few stores in my area and see what they say. My other BM is coming to town next weekend so maybe we can try to go to a store and see how the style looks on her.

I love your dress and the other "party" dresses you posted.

And I laughed out loud when I read "obnoxious" clerk's comment. In my mind, I heard the voice of a friend of mine (now deceased, much too soon) who didn't mind speaking her mind when appropriate, and probably would have said the same thing. Thank goodness for people who can speak the truth when it's absolutely
