So i''ve been in my new house for a year now and it''s fully furnished but for the most part my walls are bare. I went the sensible route and picked classic neutral pieces for all of the large furniture but need to now address the walls. My home is open concept, and the key wall that runs along the length of the living/dining area is the biggest question mark for me. I will likely need 2 pieces, one above the 3 seater sofa and one next to the dining table (it is the same wall, but the space is somewhat divided by function).

I''d love to hear where all of you purchase your wall decor, be it artwork, metallic votive holders, mirrors or something else. Because of the size of the space, I will either need large statement pieces or groups of smaller items hung together.

Thank you!

I''ve picked up a few mid century oils from eBay. I prefer real art to the stuff you can buy at department stores. Etsy is another great source for art.

I love original artwork and have collected pieces from places we have traveled (many times local artists). My most expensive purchase was an original Wyland painting in Hawaii. I have purchased local artists oil paintings from France and then had them stretched and framed here. Water colors from San Francisco, Colorado, etc/ and even posters from events I have attended, like the Sonoma County Fair, the Ski Championships in Vail. I also have my own photos hanging in my home, like the Portland Headlight from Maine - made it into poster size. I also have a photo of the Perfect Storm (made into a movie) from a photographer I met in Maine once.

I like to see memories of special things hanging on my walls. I usually go to either Michael''s or AC Moore to get them framed.

I do the same thing.

I really like 20 x 200 as well for original art.

Hey sbde - we live in a totally white condo right now, and have this on one wall:

It''s not for everyone but we love the pop of colour.
