Waiting around is boring...

There''s someone coming to do an appraisal on the bathroom in our flat. The tiles keep falling down, and now this last time they''ve fallen, some black discolouration that looks to me like mould has appeared underneath them. The tiles fall out because the sealant holding them in is very old, is drying up and thinning out, and therefore nothing is left to keep the tiles affixed.

Our landlord (the cheapest of the cheap!) has amazingly agreed to have an appraisal done to see how much it would cost to re-tile the bathroom. The appraiser was supposed to be here "sometime this morning." Well, he/she has 5 minutes of morning left, and no sign or phone call!

And I got almost no sleep last night and have been fighting to stay awake since 8 this morning...

Does it annoy you to wait around for hours and hours for stuff like this? When we had our cable put it, it was the same sort of thing. "Oh, we''ll be there between 9-6." ?!! That''s the whole freakin'' day! You can''t be a *bit* more specific?!

Anyway, just in a grumpy mood because I am so so tired and want to either be able to sleep or go out and do some errands...but no, am just sitting here like a goober.

Hey Gwen!

I know, I hate it when they do that! We had to have a fridge delivered to our place last month and said it''ll be "between 1 and 6 pm." Since we are at work that time of the day, we asked my poor brother to go there and wait for the delivery. When we got home at 5.45 there was still nothing and my brother was going nuts already. They came a little after 6.

Try not to get nervous, it''s just how it is, I guess. Apparently it''s the same all around the world.

Yep, I hate that too. When we first moved in we had some trouble with our cable and the cable guy was supposed to come. 3 times. I stayed home from school and work for this because we didn''t know anyone who wasn''t busy who could wait at our apartment for the whole day. The cable guy ended up showing up at the very end of the "designated time period" twice, and just never showed up the third time. When he didn''t show up, DH called the cable company and complained that his wife stayed home all day and had to miss work for it and the cable company basically said too bad, they had accidentally cancelled the appointment. Glitch in the system.

I hate waiting in those situations.

Thank you both for commiserating with me. 1:15 and still nada! So much for ''morning.''

At least I am only missing out on dear sleep, and not work.

AdiS, oh I HATE when it''s at the very end of a very large window of time! So frustrating when you think of all the things you could be/should be/would be doing instead! Ugh.

Lilac, oh my GOSH, that would have been so infuriating! Just not showing up at all, and then the company not being AT ALL apologetic about your wasted time?!

I would have been tempted to go with another cable company! The nerve of them! YOU are still the customer!

Almost 6 hours of waiting, and he was here for literally less than 5 minutes. Amazing.
