Hi! :wavey:

I'm looking for some feedback regarding the twin cities. DH & I are travelling to MN for personal reasons in late May so no business to tie us up during the day. We will have about 1 week free to explore while there. So I'm looking for ideas on places to visit, things to do, great restaurants (all types!) etc. Also, what is the weather like in late May? Thanks so much. :))

Take any and every opportunity to eat wild rice. It's so good and they put it in a lot of stuff in MN. The best is wild rice soup.

And check out the mall of america if you have the chance

We lived in the Twin Cities for several years, but that was a while ago. I can't give you the latest and greatest restaurants (I suggest you look on Tripadvisor, Chowhound, UrbanSpoon for that) but I can tell you that Minneapolis and St. Paul are beautiful, vibrant cities, and you will have many, many things to do there! Weather in late May? It won't be snowing, but anything else goes. The first crop of mosquitoes should be ready to go, too.....

I was out there last October, and ate at a restaurant called Chino Latino. The food was fantastic.

If you have time, you might want to make the drive out to Stillwater, which has a very cute Main Street. If you go, stop by Barbara Ann's Fudge Shop. :))

I live here and can recommend taking in a play at the Guthrie Theater, a baseball game at Target Field (the newest baseball park in the Majors and absolutely beautiful) and a nice meal at D'Amicos Kitchen (restaurant in the Chambers Hotel). (I'm more of a Minneapolis gal.) There will be lots of other events going on then, it all depends on exactly when you are here and what you are interested in doing. The weather may be gorgeous, or it may be stormy, as this is during our late spring thunderstorm season.

Another Minnesota gal here, Ditto Target field and I would also suggest the Minnesota Science Museum, they have a king tut exhibit that I can't wait to go see :appl: And the Minnesota Landscape arboretum south of the cities is the midwests largest public gardens and should have stuff happening in may. If you wanted to take a day and head north you could head to Duluth, a few hours north of the cities and spend the day at the Great lakes Aquarium, Glensheen Mansion and the Train Depot Museum or just hang out at the waterfront and people and ship watch. Always a good time. Enjoy your visit! :wavey:

One more minnesota gal chiming in :) I believe the festival of nations will be going on while you are there (correct me if I'm wrong). I used to go every year with my friends in high school and we had a blast. It's very fun!

Hudson - thanks for the tip. I love wild rice and probably wouldn't have even noticed it, but I will now! :appl:

Aoife - I definitely planned on checking out those sites, but I know what great suggestions PS'ers give so I thought I'd start here. Thanks for chiming in regarding the weather, we are looking forward to a break from the heat that has already started in south Texas. :knockout:

Kitty - We will definitely check out Chino Latino! And fudge?? I'm so there! I really appreciate the suggestions and will add them to the list!

Fly Girl - I had not even thought of catching a baseball game! Awesome suggestion!! :)) Another friend also recommended seeing a play at the Guthrie, so I'll check it out. The restaurant sounds great too!

Artdeco - The science museum is right up my alley! :appl: Duluth sounds fun too, thanks for chiming in!

Random - I will look into the festival...it would be great if it was going on while we were there. Thanks so much! :))

So many great ideas, thank you all so much!! :wavey:
