My daughter has gotten soap in her eye while taking a bath. Do you all think it''s okay to put a drop of a sterile eye drop in her eye to help wash it out? It''s a generic visine.

ANy other ideas? It is so red and iritated. Totally blood shot. I ran water down her face over hoping some gets in enough to wash it all out.

Maybe just time I guess........just it looks awful. I feel so bad. I used the liquid hand soap for bubbles because we were out of bubble bath. Made great bubbles. She had a blast. I think getting that water in her eyes did it.

The only thing it says on the back of the box is. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed get medical help. It gives no age range or states for adults only anywhere. I even looked on line.

It shouldn''t do any more harm, but plain water should work just fine. And time. Usually kids are better with toughing it out than trying to pour more water in the eyes!

I wouldn''t put visine in her eyes. Warm water should be good. You might call poison control and they could probably tell you best what to do. I am sorry.

I might be late, but Do not put Visine in. It will make it burn. If you have eyewash, contact lens solution, or saline solution, you can run that into her eye. And, plain clear warm water will help too, but it''ll make her eye feel really dry. If the soap had any "grit" in it, you may need to take her to an eye doctor to check for corneal abrasions.

Also, if she won''t allow you to pour a steady stream in her eye, have her lay her head in your lap facing out with her eyes closed. Gently pull the inside corner of the eye and deposit your solution there. It will run into the eye without freaking her out.

thank you everyone. She is fine now....it just looked so bad. I did not put in the visine. I waited it out and she is fine now..all clear.

Good idea though about laying her acrosed my lap and gently pulling her eye lid and slowly dropping in saline. Good idea for even my teenager who hates eye drops.

Mental note.....BUY saline! You never know when it will come in handy.

Thanks again ladies. I have recently ventured beyond "show me the ring" and "BWW" and "Rocky Talky" I have found that this board is so much more than just diamonds...:)

Good news; welcome to this neck of the woods and glad it all worked out!

I agree, PS are a good bunch.

Glad your little one is fine. I worked in the optical profession for a few years. You pick up a few tricks that way.
