Vikings Used Sunstones to Navigate on Cloudy Days

This is interesting, especially how archaeologists think they did it. I've read that when the sun was out, Vikings looked at it through the clear part of iolites when they calibrated its position for navigation. Sunstones seem to be their method when it was cloudy.
