Verizon Cell Reception in Bahamas?

Help! My boss is going bonefishing in the Bahamas next week and has asked me to find out if his Verizon phone will work in the outer Bahamas. He knows next to nothing about his accomodations but says that he''ll be in a remote area staying at someone''s house. He tried contacting Verizon but didn''t get the info he needed. Anyone have experience with using Verizon out of the states? TIA!

HI Monarch - Yes there is coverage ( I work for them ) but it is very expensive..1.99 per min. So tell him to be careful with his calls.. hope this helps.. He can text also 50 cents incoming or outgoing per text msg.

Crystalheart, thank you so much. So basically he will be charged roaming fees for received or dialed calls and will be able to text...will he be able to access the internet? I REALLY appreciate your help, thank you so much. (Again, this is why I love PS--so many helpful peeps!)

Beach, and Crystalheart, do you happen to know if he can access internet/gmail (he doesn''t have a blackberry, still uses razor) as well? Wi-Fi?

Probably *611 from a Verizon Wireless phone. That begs the question...wonder how well our cell phones will work in Key West when we go on our honeymoon next week...

Some areas in between have little to no reception but once in Key West you will be okay.

Monarch - I would NOT use internet access in the BAHAMAS with VZW connection.. It would be very expensive since these would be considered Roaming charges.. which would relate to several dollars per minute.

This is how people get bills that are several thousand dollars and blame us for the billing.
We are " borrowing " another companies network, so they bill us, then we bill the customer. Just tell your boss all cell usage will be roaming at 1.99 per minute and NOT to use his laptop, or internet connection on his BB.

Good luck!! He will not get a full credit if he uses it, then claims he was not aware
