VENT-- Blankity-blank USPS misplaced my ring!

This has been ongoing for almost a week now, but I''m finally posting about it because I need to vent and some PS fairy dust! At the last Santa Monica gem show I bought a handmade 0.5ct tsavorite ring on layaway. I paid it off, and the seller shipped it last week. Thank god, he at least sent it delivery confirmation AND insured. On Thursday I got the attempted delivery notice, and asked DH to pick it up the next day. Post office couldn''t find the package. I went back on Saturday-again, they couldn''t find it. They took my info to do a full search. On Monday after work, I stopped there AGAIN. Talked to a supervisor, who promised they''d keep looking and talk to the deliverer. Meanwhile, I look up the delivery confirmation number online, and it says it was delivered Thursday?!?! I went home from work early yesterday, to try and catch the guy, because usually he''s not there until at least 5. Well, this time, he got there before 4PM, so I missed him.

Left a note today asking him WTF happened to it. Also, I heard from the seller, who said he had not yet received confirmation of delivery (which in a way relieves me because it makes me think it wasn''t delivered to the wrong house and signed for). So tomorrow I''m trying the post office AGAIN, but it''s such a PITA to try to get there before or after work, plus I''m flying to Oakland tomorrow night and won''t be able to do anything until Tuesday! Arrrrgh.

Anyway, in the grand scheme, this isn''t a huge disaster, just severely annoying. Thanks for listening!

How frustrating! The USPS confirmation never comes up until at least a day after delivery. Thank goodness it was insured!

I would start to file a claim against it. It usually takes 2 weeks for them to even start finding things out from it. I ordered Frank some proof sets and silver certificates for xmas and they were ''lost'' in shipping only to find out that they were given to the wrong house.

I am sure they will find it though....but I demand hand shots when you DO receive it!!!

Awww, Selkie, I am so sorry! That just royally sucks...

I am having my own ordeal with UPS and missing packages, but they are not nearly as important as a new tsavorite ring, but I do feel your pain!

Please hang in there and let us know how it turns out!

I''m really sorry to hear that-thank god it was insured! If they don''t find it in the next day or two I would definitely start to file a claim.

Thanks guys...I went to the post office again this morning, and they still came up empty-handed. She printed out the delivery confirmation sheet saying it was delivered on 1/10. I said, NO, it wasn''t, at least not to me. The date on the brown pick-up slip IS 1/10, so how could it have been delivered? It''s a complete mystery. There''s no where he could have left it unless it''s buried in a bush. I just called the seller and asked him to start the claims process.

KCoursolle, I think the curse is still at work. That reminds me! What''s the status on your Danhov?

I should have my Danhov ring within the next couple of weeks. I picked everything out and even received the ring, but it needed to get sent back to fix some minor issues. Both JA and Danhov have been great about, so hopefully the ring should be perfect when I get it back soon.

Well, they never found it. The seller called his local PO last week, they contacted mine, and mine said, "Oh, hey, we found it! We''ll try to deliver it again." Two days later, no ring, and I''m back at the PO, very PO''d. The manager can''t find it and doesn''t know who told him they HAD found it. Now I''m waiting to hear back from the seller about the claims process. SOOOOO annoying. It''s been so long now there''s no hope of figuring out what happened to it, I don''t think. What I hate most is the feeling of constantly being brushed off, it REALLY bugs me.

Argggh.

Aww, Selkie! I''m so sorry to hear that ring is floating around out there somewhere. I really hate getting the brush-off, too, and I understand your frustration!

That''s awful. I''ve had so many problems with USPS and with UPS that I really never want to deal with either transporting my packages, EVER.

For instance, last year I ordered something from Amazon the first week of December, they said it was delivered on Dec 22. Never got it. They sent out a replacement that didn''t get here until mid January. They didn''t give a rats patootie it was supposed to be a Christmas present.

We feel your pain Selkie. Especially because we all want to see some handshots.
