I like Paris too. It is a great lcoation. My DH loves MGM. New York, New York is nice too. You MUST go to the Chocolate Swan in Mandalay Bay. It is to die for! We are going in April and have tickets for "Love" (DH said it was great). I have also seen Zumanity and O. Both were very good!

I''ve also heard nothing but great things about Paris. My MIL actually always stays there--she goes twice a year with her two best friends and they always rave about it. (She''s pretty picky as far as accomodations so I''m sure if she says it''s great it must be, lol).

I did want to say that DH and I stayed at Treasure Island our first time in Vegas together and loved it, however we stayed at Mirage the next time and went over to TI just to gamble and it was totally different, and not in a good way, as far as the gambling floor...they did have a great pool, though, and it''s central so maybe it would still be an option being a place that isn''t uber expensive/swanky.

We stayed in NY,NY while we were there and we enjoyed it. The pool was extremely shallow though so we just paddled in it, but as far as I can remember that was the only complaint. The food was great, the rooms were big and I loved the rollar coaster!

My friends are staying at TI in April, so we were thinking of there too... we have to do a lot of research!

We want to stay where there is mostly a late 20''s early 30''s crowd. Is Hard Rock any fun? DH''s boss told us to check into that, but I haven''t heard much about it.

Hard Rock is not right on the strip. I have friends who stay there to party! The younger crowd stays there.

Hard Rock is definitely a younger crowd. As for not being on the strip vs, honestly I typically take cabs when we are out there, the hotels even on the strip are typically not ''close'' to each other...and so 3/4 of the time we cab it anyway even if we are on the strip..aka if you are at the Mandalay Bay and want to go to the Venetian it''s at the other end and it will take a while to walk there and at night in heels or whatever, so not happening. I have stayed at the Hard Rock twice and we liked it both times. It''s totally more a party atmosphere but not a BAD one if that makes sense. Also I think Nobu is there? It was pretty yummy the one time we ate there (wherever it was).

Oh and THE Hotel for me had a really cool hip urban crowd, not old and not young. It was where I felt like I fit in the best and was most ''comfortable'' plus I love modernish kind of boutique feeling hotels. It may be attached to the Mandalay and it has all the amenities for the most part but it felt the least ''Vegas'' out of the hotels we have been to or stayed at if that makes sense. aka all the other hotels have Casinos that are totally flamboyant and then big ''visual displays'' that people visit and walk through and THE Hotel doesn''t have any of that. It''s just a hotel. And you walk to the Mandalay (literally like 50 feet through an indoor garage) to get all that other stuff including all the restaurants.

We stayed at the Luxor because it had the best prices for our weekend. Turns out that''s because they''re renovating! I really enjoyed the thematic room and the great view. I also like the Egyptian themed entrance, but it was a little far down on the strip since we walked everywhere. We never ate there so I can''t comment on the food.

We explored most of the casinos and I have to say I probably would only ever stay at a thematic place or the bellagio. (It has a theme: Luxury and beauty!). I love the fantasy aspect of Vegas, so I''d want to go somewhere that strengthens that feel. Depending on price our future choices would probably be either Paris or Caesar''s Palace. Probably Paris. We spent some time hanging out at a cafe/bar that was ''open air'' where we could people watch and we really enjoyed ourselves. Besides, it''s probably the closest I can get my fi to the real Paris since he dislikes france.

For food we went to the most AMAZING sushi restaurant in the MGM Grand called Shibuya. We''d proably go back to Vegas just for their melt in your mouth yellow tail!!

All this talk of Vegas makes me want to go! If we weren''t getting married in two weeks, I''d be booking my hotel today!

anyone ever stayed at the riviera? i have a free room there for a few nights on st. patty''s day weekend, so that''s why i''m going. i''ll admit i''m kind of scared...i know it''s totally old-school and i fear that it''s dirty. i noticed there aren''t many amenities. but who can pass up a free weekend in vegas? i''ll spend the money i''ve saved on accomodations in the forum shops

If you want to have fun, people watch, maybe see a concert then Hardrock is the place to go. I love drinking at the center Bar. Lots of crazy people, & outfits. It''s on Paradise Rd. which means you''ll have to take a taxi back & forth to the strip. It''s not a long drive though so it''s no big deal. Here is a map of where all the casinos are

Question for those who have stayed at the Mandalay Bay or THE Hotel: Was there a lot of runway/airport noise? I see from the map that it''s right across from the hotel!

We *were* gonna stay at the Bellagio, but on Tripadvisor I read that there is construction going on on their property. I called the hotel and they said it is 24-hour around-the-clock construction for the next YEAR AND A HALF! No way I''m going there now. 3 days away from the kids...we''re going to make d@mn well sure that our hotel room is hermetically sealed and quiet!

no i heard no noise from the airport at all at THE hotel...the one thing i did hear is the noise from one of their club''s...i think it might be a rooftop club on a lower building attached? anyway, i had a room at THE hotel on like the 16th floor or something, so not like i was on floor 3 or anything, and when i went to bed at 12 one night, i could totally hear the music from the club, like i could hear the words! but it was weird, strangely soothing, ahah..i fell right asleep and typically noises keep me up. i think it''s because THE hotel is kind of a straight tower next to the mandalay which is a series of smaller and taller buildings and so the sound was carrying up the sleek walls of THE hotel. so maybe when you book if you ask to be on the other side of the hotel away from the club...i had no idea then so i didn''t know what to ask.

Hubby and I went in November for 4 nights and we stayed at the Venetian. Great rate and beautiful pool area. The rooms are really big and clean.
Down side is that place is huge.

We enjoyed:
"O"
Blue Man Group
Cavalia, for horse lovers
museums in Venetian and Bellagio (Yes, we were the only ones in the museums! Wonderful exhibits.)

Olives
Delmonicos
The bar at Bellagios that has a veranda over-looking the lake. That was really fun one night to have drinks and appetizers.

I felt we spent a lot of time at Bellagios, but the rate was so much higher and the walking was fine.

Update on this one: We ended up booking two nights at Paris. It was the most reasonable in price for us, since we want to go see KA Cirque du Soleil, and for the price of that ticket, it would have evened out if we had stayed at Bellagio or Venetian (where we were thinking). Plus it is in the middle of a lot, and across from the Bellagio fountains. I read we need to request that at time of check in if possible.

I'm excited

Anyone seen KA before? I'm looking for opinions on that show. 'O' was sold out for the only night we could have seen it. I read on Trip Advisor that KA is not as acrobatic as the other cirque shows, but has more of a storyline. I didn't think J would like Zumanity, so I skipped that one altogether.

We''ve seen KA as well as O and Mystere and really liked it. It was very dramatic and well done with a spectacular set. Frankly I can''t imagine being disappointed in any of the Cirque du Soleil shows. We have tickets to see LOVE in April. Haven''t done Zumanity.

You''ll love Paris! I''ve never stayed there but I''ve enjoyed wandering through it in the past.

We want to see Ka too, but I think it''s sold out for the weekend we''ll be there. Hopefully our concierge will be able to score us some tickets somehow. (ask the Paris concierge to help you with Ka tickets...they can often get access to sold-out shows) I''ve seen O -- it''s spectacular, but I think La Reve (at the Wynn) is just as good so you should definitely check that one out!!

DH insisted on splurging for a nice hotel (he''s reeeally stressed out and wanted a quieter place) so we''re going to stay at the Four Seasons--LV in April. I''m hoping to see Ka and 2 other shows while we''re there. Has anyone seen Mamma Mia? Spamalot is opening tomorrow and I''m curious about that one too...did anyone catch the Broadway Spamalot version?

Kristy Mamma Mia is absolutely wonderful and so is the Four Seasons LV!!! We have tickets to see Spamalot when we are going out in April. It is supposed to be based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It should be interesting.

We saw Mama Mia about 2 years ago. It was a very fun show. Nothing awe inspiring, but, fun none-the-less. The Four Seasons will be a fab place...Quiet and pampering. Have a good time.

My g/f and I went to Vegas two weekends ago. We stayed at the Bellagio, which was beautiful and comfortable and we definitely loved it. Our good friend was staying at the Wynn in a suite, and we went up to her suite for drinks before heading out to dinner -- and the Wynn is gorgeous!! It is also the most expensive, though. The 30+ carat diamond is at some jewelry store in the Wynn though if you''re interested :)

So if you''re big hotel people I would suggest Bellagio or the Wynn...

We got stuck for a day and had to stay at the Treasure Island for a night. It was just blah. I''d rather have stayed at the Westin which is just off the strip, but is well known to be a great business hotel..... I love the beds & sheets at the Westin!

As for food, skip Circo at all costs it is miserable. If you want to eat well, I could suggest Japonais (in the Mirage I think), and Olives (in the Bellagio)

Otherwise, the food is nothing special if you''re coming from a city like SF, Chicago, or NY.

Wow, sounds like I better get tix for Mamma Mia!

Kev -- I love the Bellagio and the Wynn (have stayed at both) but both hotels happen to be undergoing construction right now. They both said that I was "unlikely" to hear the noise, but with MY rotten luck with hotels, that means I would be "very likely" to hear the noise. I was unwilling to take the chance! As for food, we''ll probably eat at Sensi, Okada, and Picasso. For shows, we''re hoping for "O" (but was warned it is probably sold out), Ka, and Spamalot. Mamma Mia will be our back-up show. Zumanity is on hiatus the week we''ll be there.

How about spa recommendations? Anyone?

My favorite Vegas spa is the Canyon Ranch at the Venetian although if you are staying at the Four Seasons it is pretty far away.

KD: I heard the same about the Wynn with the construction, DH wanted to stay there also, but I read some recent posts on trip advisor and they said it was awful with the noise. Hopefully it won''t be bad for us staying at Paris.

We stayed at Paris last may for my B party and it was very nice. I kind of liked how it was a smaller casino. Easier to find each other when we got split up. It is also a great location. You will have a great time!

I was at both the Bellagio and the Wynn 2 weeks ago and didn''t notice any construction whatsoever.

I saw the show "O" and it was very neat. You can skip it though if mimes or clowns creep you out.

Yeah, dont let any of the hotels here tell you, you wont hear construction noise because they are lying. I hate to tell you but a lot of the properties are expanding so if the hotel you are staying at doesnt have any projects going on chances are the one next you to you will so you will probably see or hear it.
