Valentine's day coming up: what r u wishing for??

I've always hated how pressured guys felt on the 14th and I worked in the flower industry, so I've always insisted that if hubby wants to get me flowers he get me them early in the week before the price hikes and that we make a special dinner at home, no gifts. The first year we were together he ordered me flowers and had them delivered to his mom's house because he was afraid I'd find his order in the system at work! ;) So he brought them with him that night! Very cute and sweet, I thanked him and told to never ever pay those outrageous prices again! LOL

Ironically, our wedding was Vday weekend since we scheduled around my dad's chemo - I had a swat team ready to go at the crack of dawn to go to the flower market before they were wiped out! :)

I love to make special meals like homemade heart shaped pizza, heart shaped ravioli in vodka sauce, or sexy finger foods we can feed each other, etc. Mmmmmmm!

I'm the same way. I dislike Valentines Day for making people without loved ones feel like they're less significant. I hate that everything is so expensive that day too. We may go to dinner, but I really really don't want anything else. JMHO

Hmm, not sure because I have nothing on my radar at the moment. In years past I have combined our anniversary (Nov), Christmas and Hanukkah, and Valentine's Day into one special bling gift but not this year. I got bling for each occasion so far so Valentine's probably won't be a big gift though we are going to New Hope and Lambertville today where my favorite jewelry shops are located. And, I am a bit mad at my dh because he is spending more than we thought we would in fixing our damage from Sandy (the price keeps going up :nono: and my dh keeps OKing it :angryfire: ) and when I am angry it really isn't a great idea for me to be bling shopping as I lose all self control. :cheeky: Sooooo, we'll see. My dh better hope I don't see anything I fall in love with today because it just might be coming home with us!!! ::)

Minous, the guy you end up sharing the rest of your life with will be very lucky indeed and as Laurie said, it will happen when you least expect it probably! Sending you soulmate love dust right now!!!!

OK, back from New Hope and....

OK, I didn't get it but I am very tempted... :naughty:
There are a few problems and I will start a new thread but just wanted to say wouldn't that make a lovely Valentine's Day gift?

Gorgeous ring but also OMG that band! Is that yours?

Oh wow, that ring is gorgeous missy! The band is amazing too!

Thanks Junebug and webdiva! I just started a thread in Colored stones and would love it if you could check it out and give me your opinion. I know I'm crazy and need some sense shaken into me lol! The band is not mine but could be as it goes perfectly with that ring. They also had it with pink diamonds or yellow diamonds. TDF!

Here is the thread:

I'm getting a long awaited new knee.

Is there a special meaning to a pineapple? It always makes me think of the tv show Psych...and how there is a pineapple in every episode! :lickout:

We will be in different places on the actual day, but I think we will be celebrating together the weekend after. I would be happy with a nice dinner out (we didn't celebrate on the day of last year either and it worked out great! No crowds to deal with!)...plus candy will all be on sale by then!!! ;))

As for what I would wish for...I don't know if I really trust him to pick out a nice piece of jewelry lol. I have some earrings and nail polish on my etsy wish list, and that's probably all I would like at this point. Still trying to find jobs upon graduation so I don't want him to go all crazy or anything! I have a few ideas of what to get him (fragrance, movies) but nothing big.

I never want Valentine's Day gifts. For some reason the holiday has never appealed to me - exploiting love for a massive consumer product. :nono:

I just want a card, with a genuinely nice note inside. :))

Wooooohooo missy! That's a beaut!

Lemme know what I can do to ENABLE. :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

My husband always gets me flowers....maybe chocolate and/or a nice bottle of champagne too.
I don't really have a wish list.

OMG this ring is currently my new obsession. If one could be in love with a ring this would be the one for me. At least for right now. 8)
This would make the perfect Valentine's Day gift. Oh honey... :halo:

See how tastes can change in just a few years? I no longer love yellow diamonds (for me). Big gorgeous honking chunky old european cut please!

I am a secret romantic. I always wanted someone to send flowers to my office, or get a big heart box of chocolates for Valentines. My ex has effectively ruined dates like valentines day and anniversaries (too many examples, but for one he broke up with me 2 weeks before our 20th anniversary last year). If anything they have a negative connotation to me. I am casually dating someone, but I hope he doesn't do anything because of the way I feel. I bought myself some red underwear to wear under my clothes to feel sexy, and I want to buy myself a vibrator. Any suggestions? :naughty:

OMG your post just gave me a flashback to when I was dating and my boyfriend sent like 2 dozen roses to the office (where I worked one day a week so couldn't leave the flowers) and I had to struggle home on the train with all these flowers. :knockout: I mean the sentiment was lovely but in actuality it was a real pain. When I was dating roses and chocolates were the gifts and they were sweet but I was just never a fan. I always preferred something that would last if you kwim. But it is still considered the traditional romantic Valentine's Day gift.

Part Gypsy, I am sorry your ex ruined this occasion for you and I would say just try to make a fresh start with your current paramour. Don't let your ex ruin the feeling of this day for you and more importantly affect your feelings towards your current partner. (((Hugs))).

When we got married I insisted on no more flowers and no more candy. Bling is my gift of choice for ALL occasions. :cheeky: :appl: 8)

I plan to buy some cool jewelry for my girlfriend this Valentine. Online companies like Shop LC offer cool jewelry products like rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, bangles, etc. These will help me in strengthening my vows to my girlfriend.

That sounds lovely -- you're a keeper! ;))

P.S. - I might get in trouble for this given what happened in the "Photos" thread, but... may I respectfully suggest people should consider whether it's wise to click that link on a work computer or device or in a place where there maybe be (little) people present with inquiring minds...

Dee, you're so thoughtful. I edited my post and deleted the link. Everyone knows how to Google!
