great thread dd!

baby snowsuit: luckily we got it as a present and didn''t spend anything on it, but even though we had a january baby we never used it once. just used the bundleme in the carseat whenever we went out. we literally just put the snowsuit on him ONCE and took some pics in it because we felt the need to at least use it once.

re: baby shoes and bedding: i do admit i got both and to tell you the truth i''d do it again. definitely wouldn''t get shoes for newborn sizes but i love how baby shoes complete an outfit (now that j is almost 6 mths old) and the adorable bedding i got from pottery barn kids makes me happy whenever i walk into the nursery haha

like blen, the arms reach cosleeper is not getting much use but the pack and play we have downstairs definitely gets used during daytime naps and diaper changes. i think this is mainly because of the fact that it''s nice to have something downstairs in the living area and isn''t really a reflection on one product being better than the other.

pandora: just wanted to let you know that those bibs will become very useful in the coming months when daisy goes through her drooling phase. i hadn''t used mine at all and then all of a sudden i was going through 3-4 a day when J was 4 months old!

luckily J loves the swings, bouncy chairs, exersaucer and playmat/gym so they''re getting a ton of use.

eta: fancy clothing for babies 3 months and under was a waste. J lived in onesies and footed sleepers for the first few months and anything else was just a pain to get on and off with their wobbly heads and didn''t look all that comfortable for the baby!.
Ha, that''s what I was told too (I have a ton of bibs I got as gifts - the cloth ones are useless for feeding - I only use bumpkins bibs for that) but Amelia NEVER drooled. I thought it was weird because I assumed all babies drooled. Not mine. It was kind of cool because her cute outfits weren''t ever covered with bibs, lol. However I think drool is good...doesn''t saliva help ward off bacteria in the mouth or something? Drier mouth = more cavities? My mom neither my brother nor I ever drooled and we have to be meticulous about our teeth or it''s cavityville. I would rather have Amelia be a drooler if it meant having the teeth of steel her father has!
lol no way tgal! J is a drool machine haha it''s just now starting to die down a bit but i still have to put a bib on him most days. i guess each baby really is different. you were lucky though, because it really does suck to cover up his nice outfits with bibs.

I still think mine must not be quite the norm. She never put anything in her mouth either (including food.

) I didn''t have to worry about lead paint in toys and stuff like that because she was SO not an oral baby. My friends (both with kids and without) think it''s the greatest thing that she''s so "clean" but I think she missed out on one of the most important ways for babies to explore. But yeah, it did make it easier on me.

Kyle''s a drooler too, we go through 2-3 bibs a day. I actually returned a bunch of the ones I received as shower gifts, thinking I wouldn''t need them, and now I''m going back to the store to buy more

.

The newborn size socks also did us no good. We should have known better, DH and I have HUGE feet, and we knew the baby would be over 8 pounds. Then he came out at almost 9 pounds with very large feet, and the newborn socks had the heels halfway down his foot. I gave them all away.

The car mirrior still hasn''t been installed. It''s attached to the side of the crib so he and play with it. Not the intended purpose, but at least we found a use for it. And the car roll up shades are still in the packaging. Both our cars have tinted windows, and the carseat is in the middle, so we haven''t bothered to break them out yet.

Baby bathrobe and baby slippers...what she is going to lounge after a bath?

crib betting set...which I HAVE warned about in other threads.

bottle warmer...never used it.

too many baby blankets

Things I love that some of you didn''t...

SNG I should work for baby trend. LOVED it!

bibs she wore them nonstop for the first 6 months.

swing I did NOT have a good self-soother so this saved ALL of our lives. We actually have a full size and a travel.

onesies after 9 months diaper changes are hard enough w/o dealing with an extra step.

Tacori, I am confused - are you saying onesies are no good after 9 months?

I thought I would love the snap and go. I love it in theory, but my kid hates being in the carseat, so by extension, hates being in the snap and go. When we got to a store with a shopping cart, I just balance the carseat on the shopping cart and go from there. In retrospect I would not have bought the snap and go, but I would feel differently if he didn;t hate the carseat so much!

We received a bathrobe too, which I expect we will never use. I also think baby shoes are a waste (got some as gifts). I don't expect to put him in shoes until he can walk.

Cloth diapers (don't hate me) - I never got into using them. We use the disposables.

Things I love that some people hated:

The swing - it is one of the few places besides my arms where he is happy.
Diaper genie elite II - as mentioned above, we like it.
Bedding - I didn't spend a lot, but I got a nice matched set from the Dwell Studio for Target line and used it to decorate his whole room. I spend so much time in there, that I am glad I decorated nicely. I AM glad I didn't spend a ton though! The quality of Dwell Studio for Target is really great IMHO, and it;s exactly my style.

Tandogmom, cloth diapers make GREAT spit rags. Then again I had a major spitter/drooler. Yes, for me I hated onesies after about 9 months. Probably before actually. Once she could crawl (at 6.5 months) diaper changes turned into a difficult power struggle. After that t-shirts were MUCH easier b/c I was never quite quick enough to change her diaper and redo the snaps. Before she was mobile they are awesome. I also used my SNG to take her on walks. She always fell asleep so I could just carry her carrier inside. My girl NEVER transferred well otherwise.
