Upgrade policy...are you tempted?

Are you more tempted and prone to upgrading because you have an upgrade policy when you bought your diamond? would you be less inclined to making the big leap to upgrading your diamond if you did not buy with an upgrade policy, therefore would you be content with your diamond? or do you have DSS no matter what?

With my first diamond, no upgrade policy, and was content for about five years. Now I''m always soooo tempted because I have an upgrade policy but I''m putting my foot down ..... (well for now anyways)

I''m just interested in your thoughts?

I might be mistaking you for someone else, but didn't you say in another thread (recently) that you feel your current diamond is too big?

So would you be upgrading in color or clarity?

nope you were right, I did think that the diamond was too big, but I didn''t mention that if I were to put in a three stone setting then I would reduce the size but go up in color & clarity,,, but alas, I''ve tried on sooo many three stone, even bought a fake one, and it just doesn''t go well on my finger

But I''m getting sentimental as this is my five year diamond.

The Nerd Diamond has a 100% upgrade policy and I tried to trade it in about three weeks after I bought it, because I am super lame. Fortunately(?) they didn''t have what I wanted, so I never did. Since then I''ve gotten all attached to it (and also convinced that anything bigger would look goofy on my hand, which is true) so I do not have upgrade fever, but man, I sure did for a while.

I hear you. I flirted with the idea of a three stone too, but ultimately didn''t dig them on my finger. I was only able to try on round three stone rings, however.

Have you come any closer to finding your dream setting?

I don''t ever plan to upgrade my eng ring. It''s been with me since my early twenties and I feel it''s a part of me. BUT. . .I''d love to upgrade my earrings or pendant some time in the future. Luckily those are from WF so I have that option any point down the road. Yah!

I have BGD bezel earrings and yes... they are upgradable too!!!! oh no,,,, when will this ever end?

Yay! I did find it....but I gotta keep quite as I''m probably going to jinx myself until I send off my ring to Bill Pearlman

Have you tried princess three stones? I find that those look better on my finger, but still can''t get over changing my stone now though

I have short fingers too, so can''t stack too many. Sometimes I don''t wear the ering, just flank two bands on either side of my facets shared prong eternity band. I felt bad, cause I wasn''t wearing the facets band. Hubby said, so is the ering retired?? HA!!!

I said I got to change things around, no worries. I think he was panicking, that I wanted another one!!!

Haha, and that was what it looked like back in August. It''s at least twice that size now, and I moved on to more expensive rocks once I got more confident in my ability to pick out what I wanted.

But yes, colored stones have definitely been my coping mechanism for not having enough fingers (or enough money!) to wear more than two diamonds.

I was someone who all my adult life thought that 1 carat was huge. When I settled on a 1.25 carat stone I thought that I would never go bigger, because it would be unladylike. (I lived in an area where women wore large diamonds, but I had always worn small, classic pieces of jewelry, nothing ostentatious.)

Eventually I got a 1.67 carat solitaire, then one that was slightly over 2 carats. I tried wearing the stone that was over 2 carats as a ring, but felt very uncomfortable. I took it out of the ring setting and had it put into a necklace. Well...all I can say is that that that was then and this is now. Now I want a solitaire with a stone of 3-4 carats; that 2.20 carat stone (or whatever it is) doesn''t look as big as the stone I would like to wear!

I don''t know that I will ever "upgrade" since none of my rings has an upgrade policy, but if I ever buy another diamond, it will have an upgrade policy!
