I love watching films in a cinema and really missed not being able to do so during lockdown.

The town close to me where I normally go to see a film happens to be a C19 hotspot.

So I decided to try another cinema in another town not far from home, a town that I have visited about a handful of times in 14 years!

As I work part time from home, I was able to go there on a weekday afternoon, to see Tenet which has very good reviews. There were about 6 people in the entire auditorium, which meant social distancing was easy to practice.

I saw the trailers of a few films, and would like to see, in no particular order, WW84 (for the music as it is set in 1984 - my favourite decade), Black Widow, Dune (looks much better than the original film), and No Time To Die.

For those who like to watch films/movies, what are you planning to watch on the big screen?

HI:

I'd love to see Bond. But I'd need a hazmat suit--I really miss the movies but not enough to get any type of infection.

cheers--Sharon

I know what you mean. I would not have gone if it was busy.

DK :))

WW84!!! And the Dune trailer looks fantastic. But I live in a perpetual hot spot (Miami) so I know I won’t be going soon.

Ditto Dune, loved the books, love the trailer.

It was months ago - before lockdown even
i wanted to see Bruce Springsteen,s Western stars in a movie theatre but it never came to Wanganui
It was when Gary was sick and traveling to another town was out of the question - i was really bummed out because they have such good sound at our baby multiplex

Keep in mind the risk is not just how many people are in the building, or even how far apart you can stay.
AC units circulate contaminated air inside buildings, trains, buses, and jets.

That's why I spend as little time as possible inside public buildings.

I'm through with going to movie theaters.

Actually, I was through years before C-19, when they ...
Started showing commercials before the feature film.
Started charging $99 for a ticket and $1,000 for one popcorn kernel, on which they stopped using real butter and substituted some peyrolium grease,
Started putting jalapeño peppers and mustard on nacho chips that formed a toxic cloud, fumigating the surrounding 123 moviegoers
The vast majority of movie goers in front of me started texting and talking on their fracking telephones during the film. :angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire:

Whew!
Thanks!
I fell much better now.

yep what he said

True, it's about $100 for 2 of us to see a movie, so it was something we rarely did. I think I'll want to go when/if it's safe just because we haven't be able to. What we have done is order movies from the theatre. Does everyone have that? It's just a digital download to your tv or device. We can also have popcorn delivered. It's not bad. Comfortable at home, and you get the movie for 24 hours. We've shared movies with our kids. They rent, we watch for free.

I loved going to cinemas in US and Canada just for the fresh salted popcorn with butter sauce made with real butter or otherwise!!!

we haven't gone to the cinema in YEARS, long before the covid 19 pandemic.
the seats that likely don't get cleaned often enough, the recirculated air and likely ventilation ducts that haven't been thoroughly and properly cleaned...

don't enjoy the food or drinks at the concession stand. Sorry to be a party pooper...

True story...

When I was in LA in 2016, I went to the cinema to see Star Trek Beyond which came out that year.

I spent extra for a seat that would vibrate for better sensory experience etc...

By the end of the film, I thought the experience did not account to much, until I realised I was in the wrong seat, DOH!!!

@dk168

awww, that's too bad, you didn't get the full sensory experience...

I felt such a fool!!! Luckily there was no one about to witness my embarrassment when I found out my mistake!

;))2 @dk168

happens to all of us, you aren't alone

Dune! Oh man it looks so good. But I won't be going to the theatre. I'll be waiting for it to come to Google play or another streaming service. I just don't feel comfortable going public places that are not immediate needs like groceries. Plus we have a kid and no sitter so we wouldn't be going anyway. We have popcorn and sodas for when we want to watch a movie together so we just do that. It alllllmost is just as good.

Ditto. We stopped going to the movie theaters in 2006 or 2007 IIRC. For all the reasons you listed above.

I love going to the movie theater! It's my favorite date with DH - early movie session on a Saturday, then out to lunch after aid movie.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new Top Gun movie at the theater. Pure trash and utterly awesome!

This was our gig also. Matinee then happy hour! I miss that.

That said, I've always felt that theatres are not the healthiest places to be. While I've never gotten sick from attending, there is ALWAYS someone coughing or sneezing or hacking or or or that made me uneasy. (I usually covered my face when there....)
