Ok, I wanted to find out what you all thought about this.

DH ordered something online. He got a UPS tracking number and it was expected to be delivered yesterday. We knew we wouldn''t be home but that they could leave it at the office of our apts. When he checked yesterday afternoon, the UPS tracking site said the package was delivered. When he went to the office they said they did not have it. All members of the staff said that they did not recieve a package for us. We checked at home - of course it''s not there and none of our immediate neighbors say that they accepted it on our behalf. So apparently it''s lost. When we purchased, we chose the standard ground shipping method. The company we purchased from apparently did not choose the ''require signature'' option with UPS and the ''require signature'' option was not even given to us at checkout. We figured that was automatic. Anyway, nobody wants to claim responsibility. Not the company we purchased from (they claim they shipped it labeled with the correct address), not UPS (they claim they delivered to the right address), and we are out $150.00. Can they really do this?! What would you do in this situation?

I''d appreciate any advise. TIA!

First make sure no one has it locally to you. Check again. Second-if he paid with a CC I would dispute it with them if you never received it...

my coworkers daughter had similar problem (but she had a sneaky suspicion that it was someone in the management office that took it because of the box was clearly labeled- not saying that your apartment people took it), but what I would do, then is call the vendor you purchased and see what they can do, maybe they are one that will just send out a new one? because they don''t have record showing that you or anyone else signed for it, if not, then my last resort is contacting my credit card company about it, to reverse payment because you never received goods that you paid for.

Thanks NF. We did ask our 3 most immediate neighbors (the only ones we know), but I will check with the neighbors on the 2nd floor. If they don''t have it, I guess I will be forced to dispute it.

Thanks D&T. We did call the vendor...they refuse to do anything. They claim they shipped it to the address we requested (the address we gave was correct) so they lived up to their end of the bargain. I think I will have to dispute it through our credit card company. Thanks for your input.

this happened to me before, i purchased a laptop and since i knew i wouldn''t be home, i knew that ups would leave it at my apts management office, my FI checked on the day we were supposed to receive it and the people at the management office said they never received it, i checked days later and it turns out they did receive it and the box was sitting there for days...

Last fall something was to be delivered by UPS, and we tracked it online. Never came, never came. Marked as delivered to our address online..not in the front garage, not in the back garage, not outside, not in the either of our vehicles. We checked the houses on either side of us and across from us, nothing. Called UPS, and they called the delivery guy, yep he delivered it to our address, and I''m like, hello, I''m AT MY address, have been here ALL day, and it''s NOT here. They made the guy call us and he described the house he delivered it to..which was 3 houses to the west..we don''t live there. No apologies or anything. So, they can SAY they delivered it to the specified address...but did they?

I routinely get shipments at home.

UPS is highly reliable. So to is FedEx. Less so is the USPS.

However, UPS has delivered my stuff to the same house number 1 or 2 strees over a couple of times.

FedEx has also misdelivered on occasion.

I don''t get about 1/3 of all USPS packages sent to me (and I try to avoid them if possible).

I also recieve packages for other people in the area. The most worrysome is that twice in the last year I have recieved medication for someone else.

Signature required is not always a solution either. I have one case where there was a signature - but it was not mine and we never did figure out who had signed for it or where the package was.

-----------

I would definetley reverse charges through the credit card company unless UPS is immediately willing to admit that they could have misdelivered it and is willing to immediately arrange for a new item to be shipped to you.

We went through a similar situation. UPS claimed they delivered but we never received (although I think it was stolen from our front porch-they are supposed to deliver to our back patio). The vendor who I had purchased from filed a claim with UPS and we were refunded our money. I would call UPS again. Good luck!!
