I won't make a donation to the Red Cross then. Perhaps the best way to do it is instead of donating a lump-sum, I should split the amount and donate various smaller amounts to the various organisations mentioned?

Also, Bella, are you in NY yourself? Any other NY/ NJ residents here please? Would it be at all possible for me to contact you directly and send you a wire so you could use that locally? I wish I could be there and lend a helping hand. (Not sure how to contact any one of you though - perhaps via a pre-loved ad?)

The best way is to donate directly to either the Mayor's fund or Robin Hood, both honest charities that spend all they have on people that need it.

I was just going to wire it to Bella (if she was willing to accept it) or other long term, well known PS'ers (as I KNOW that Bella and other similar well known LT PS'ers would do the right thing with the money, ie. via the grassroot efforts etc..) and/ or I was going to donate it to the organisations in the links above. I wasn't going to wire the money to *just* anyone!

But you're right. Instead of having to bother posters on this forum, I will make my donations to these organisations that have been been "approved" and vetted by you guys. I really appreciate it.

Hi Phoenix, No worries. I would be happy to help. If it were me I would donate to Robinhood Foundation or HopeMob.

...so for those of us non-New Yorkers, do you think those charities are better than the Bowery Mission that was posted as an idea a day or so ago? Hopefully, I'll have some funds to donate shortly! TIA.
