This thread made me look up Trump's dog because I remember another thread in which Jenn posted a picture of an adorable Goldendoodle that was, supposedly his. What I found was that the deal for him to get the dog (named Patton), from his friend Lois Pope, had fallen through. Apparently he never got the dog. Does anyone else know more about this? Does he have any dog?

Trump really may end up not having a pet while he is president. This surprises me. The White House is pretty big. It's not as if he would have to be with the pet constantly, although I believe a responsible pet owner really should not acquire a pet to whom he does not want to devote himself.

Exactly. People who do not want dogs should not have them.

Having someone to feed and clean up after it is not the same as the owner spending time with and loving it.

Don't you just love doing that?! When I see my Nickerbug laying all sprawled out I have to get down on the floor and snuggle with him. He loves it and stretches out putting his muzzle on my face. I have to bury my face in all his puffy hair.

We are kindred spirits, red. My Italian husband has always been repulsed by this behavior. He doesn't understand this American closeness with dogs. My brother and I used to fight over who would get the Cocker spaniel to sleep in our bed when we were children. As an adult, I shared dogs with my husband, and they never came into our bed. When I lay down with them on their dog beds, though, he would wince!

I wish it was just for laughs. But after seeing articles condemning Trump because he puts Ketchup on his steak, or the length of his tie, or the way the press treats his wife and children, there is an unhealthy hate out there for this man.

But when they compare his to Hitler, it makes me question their motives and sanity.

That didn't happen here, ruby. This thread was for laughs. (You're the only one to mention Hitler here.) And for some bonding (as between red and me). If I wanted to get vicious about Trump here, I wouldn't keep talking about cuddling with my own dog. Doing that always makes me mellow. And when I'm mellow I am not as savage.
