I'm at the age where I'm starting to get a few fine lines around my eyes. So, I tried a new eye cream, and it seriously irritated the skin under and around my eyes. Itching, swelling, bumps! Not good, not good.

ETA: Forgot to mention redness.

Oh NO! That sucks!!!

ARe you going to a dermatologist? Hope you feel better soon

Not yet. Going to give it a day to see if it gets better. Itching is the worst part.

Just in case anyone''s interested, it is Skin Nutrition w/ Phytomins Firming Eye Cream. Had a choice of an expensive cream and a less expensive cream. I chose the less expensive one.

Expensive doesn't always equal better! Do you have a Sephora nearby you? If so, you can get a weeks worth of many different creams to try out. A while back I went in and the gal gave me a whopping 15 trial packets (three different brands - Korres, Peter Roth Thomas, and some other one - I forget) to help me find the right face cream. Seems crazy to get so many but that was the only way I could find one that worked! Maybe it's because I go in there twice a week and they all know me, so they were generous.

If something doesn't work, I always return it, so it's in a company's best interest to give out samples to people like me. Nordstrom is another good place.

I have also tried many different brands of eye cream. My favorite is Kiehls Avocado eye cream. It is so gentle yet effective! You should walk into a Kiehls retail store and ask for a sample....

MC, what are some eye creams that your recommend? I''ve tried several, but haven''t really found a good one. TIA!

Oh, goodness...did you take a antihistamine??

I would be hessitant to use any other creams around your eyes since it''s so irritated unless you know for sure you''re not going to have another reaction, JMHO.

Also, cool compresses will help.

Thanks for the tips! The swelling and redness have gone down, but my skin still feels like gravel from the bumps. Still itches too! My husband went to talk to the pharmacist about any creams I can use and to get me some claritin and a bag of some frozen veggies to put on my eyes.

I have very sensitive skin and am allergic to many things. I like La Mer eye concentrate. They will give you a sample at Nordstrom to try. I recently tried the
new one from Bare Escentuals because I love their make-up and it didnt irritate either. There is a huge difference between the two, but I have had great
results with the La Mer.

Hope it all goes away soon. That is painful and annoying! I too have had a hard time finding a eye cream that did''nt irritate! Good luck!

You have to try "All About Eyes Rich" by Clinique! I love that stuff! The skin around my eyes is very sensitive and it gets dry and irritated easily, and this is the only cream that works.
