Wedding Travel Time on Wedding Day

I live 55 minutes from my Hair Salon and I am debating DIY''ing my hair. This brought up the question:

How far are/did you travel (ing) on the big day??
 
LOL, how on earth did this happen? Only 2:24 apart!

I''m trying to figure out something similar, obviously. I feel like it would work okay to travel the hour each way to and from the salon from the venue (where we''re staying), but who knows, maybe it''s added stress and time crunch that we don''t need?

I just cracked up that you both posted similar things.

I''ve been a part of 4 weddings (my own and 3 times as a bridesmaid). 2 of them had hair done onsite, (well, in my case it was a short walk to a different hotel) and 2 were about 45-60 minutes from the venue.

IMO - the weddings where we had to haul out to a salon 45 min away were by far more stressful. Now, this could have been simply because of the people involved, etc, but I think keeping it as central as possible might be preferable. The farther you travel, the more you risk traffic/rain/randomness making you late for the next stage of the day.

That said - if there is a hairdresser you know and trust and want to work with, it may be worth it to drive.

I know, not much help, lol.
 
I had my hair done at a salon 30 minutes from where we got ready - our makeup was done by an artist who came to meet us after hair was done.

I wouldn''t think that 45 minutes is too far

My wedding is at 6pm at my parents home. I think If I could get an early apt it would be ok, but I too am worried that rather than being a welcomed escape on the day it will make me feel rushed.

Leave at 8am
apt at 9am
thru by 10:30am
back by noon....

that is 8 hours for something crazy to happened to it pre ceremony. YIKES I am torn.

We traveled about 25 minutes each way, but at hair and makeup were at the same location (a mall). I don''t think it would have been stressful at all if we had had a little more time, and if my girls didn''t end up all over the mall. It seems like you will have plenty of time though!
 
I was torn about this too, since it would cost $60 for the stylist to travel to our venue and since our ceremony doesn''t start till 5 pm, I thought I''d be able to fit in the 50-min drive each way.

However, my mom and aunt both made a good point that you can find ways to make back that $60, but you can''t get back lost time! I actually thought they might encourage me to save the money, but since they both strongly advised just paying the fee and saving myself the extra stress and wasted time...I think that''s what I''m going to do!

Very true. It's SO worth an extra $60 to get the stylist to the venue.

For me, it's turning out to be a $250+ difference.

Ooh, ouch! OK, I'll admit $250 might make that drive a little more enticing (that or finding another stylist!)

But knowing me, I'll but up by 8:30/9 at the latest.

Wedding starts at 6pm, and we'll probably have to do the pictures (at least most of them) before because sunset time is 6:30. I'll have to ask the photographer about that, though.
